Just a few days ago the garden was still into winter mode but now wow the red currant bushes are full of flowers and there are already quite a few strawberry flowers open very promising That's exciting, Tink. It's 18C here and we are in the midst of a deluge. I love the sound of the rain on my roof... I hope it washes away some of the angst I've been feeling. 7

Talked to my oldest son last night... he's so worried about passing the virus on to his kids... he is a hands on manager for a huge retailer. and works with a lot of staff and customers every day. He says social distance is a joke in his store... and they are classed as essential services. 2 5

Maybe after all this people will have more appreciation for those often considered as little hands and to who we don't think enough but are essential like nurses, cashier and store workers, garbage men, postmen and delivery people... Stores here have put big plexiglass panel to protect the cashiers, adhesive on the floor to indicate the distance 3 4 1

Site Administrator Popular Post Valkyrie Posted March 20, 2020 Site Administrator Popular Post Posted March 20, 2020 I decided to brave the grocery store today and see if they had any more stock than last time. It wasn't nearly as bad as when I went last Sat, thank goodness. Things were still pretty picked over, but I was able to get some more meat and lots of fresh veg. Thankfully the lines weren't nearly as bad either. It's really windy today, but the temps are nice at almost 70. That will change overnight though. The high is only in the 30s tomorrow. I bought stuff to make lots of soup 1 5
dughlas Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 G'day y'all from warm, very warm and sunny SC. It's currently 75/24° with bright sunshine. I understand it's much warmer further inland, potentially record breaking. However, the temp here near the beach is being moderated by a lovely sea breeze. Ocean surface water temps are 60/16°. Because it's Spring Break the Myrtle Beach city beach has crowds of college students. They're not worried by the virus because they think themselves invincible. My understanding that today the police are dispersing them. 3 1 1

Sadly I did not need toilet paper as there were two skids of it. I was more pleased that I could get milk. Also picked up a small bottle of Southern Comfort at the package store across the highway. Mum has been feeling a throat tickle recently, I blame it on the pollen, so has requested a hot toddy the last few nights. My bottle of very nice rye whiskey is just about gone and as it came from a small purveyor in Charleston I'm not likely to replace it soon. 1 2 4

My throat is sore again, but it wasn't helped by yelling at Cookie to stop running around me when I brought my horse in. She only wants to play but I'm worried about her getting kicked. 4 3
