I ask because I know that in Dutch a word that ends in "d" is usually pronounced as though it ends with a "t". For example, the Dutch word hond (hound, or dog) is pronounced hont. They look better in the photo than in real life. They're getting threadbare in places, and have suffered water damage under the upstairs landing windows. And they're only made of some sort of synthetic material (nylon, I suspect), not pure wool. 7

I steamed and mashed some potato, carrot and swede (rutabaga), then put it in a casserole dish, grated cheddar cheese on top, and baked it in the oven for 20 minutes. Followed it with a slice of banana loaf. 3 4

Wikipedia gives the following: Cnut the Great (/kəˈnjuːt/; Old English: Cnut cyning; Old Norse: Knútr inn ríki, (died 12 November 1035), also known as Canute, was King of Denmark, England and Norway, often referred to together as the North Sea Empire during his rule. And includes the following footnote: Modern languages: Danish: Knud den Store or Knud II, Norwegian: Knut den mektige, Swedish: Knut den Store. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cnut_the_Great 6
