A bit milder here today, but not much sun. There was a bit of slight drizzle a while back. I think the dry spell may be coming to an end. Hopefully it won't rain now until September.

So, yeah, I have at least one pregnant cat already... and another I saw the old male trying to breed.   He's acting docile today, which is unusual. He didn't go after Cookie like he normally does... just crouched in the hay with his eyes closed. He looks healthy, and he's fat as hell, but I think he's old. I don't really like him because he's so nasty to the other cats, but I hope he isn't going to kick the bucket... at least not that I see....

I've just popped a beef casserole in the oven for dinner. There's probably enough for two meals. Apart from the mushrooms, and some of the herbs, all the vegetables are from my own garden.

I remember ordering "Quatre petits-déjeuners, s'il vous plaît" ('Four breakfasts, please') in a small café in Cherbourg after myself and three friends had got the ferry across to France about 20 years back. None of my companions had ever visited France before, and didn't really understand the culture or even speak any French.

A few minutes later four plates with croissants, and four cups of strong black coffee were placed in front of us.

I was leisurely enjoying my breakfast, when one of my friends asked "When's the breakfast coming?"

Looking across the table I saw that they had all already eaten their croissants.

"You've just eaten breakfast," I replied.

"What! Where's the sausages? Where's the eggs? Where's the rashers? That wasn't breakfast!!"

"Oh, but it was," I replied. "Welcome to France."

They were expecting something like this:

The low this morning was 36/2° with a heavy frost and a bit of a breeze, definitely nippy. High reached mid-50's/~13°. Tomorrow is forecast to be similiar before warming through the week.

Looks tasty, except for the mushrooms. I myself enjoy a "meat and eggs" breakfast, but pancakes or French toast will always be my favorite morning meal.
