Popular Post Drew Espinosa Posted April 23, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 23, 2022 Earlier this year, my family noticed that one of our cats, Chiquita, was having difficulty eating solid cat food. We checked her over, and realized she's lost some of her teeth, so is unable to chew down on solid food. We've looked to different soft cat food for her, but unfortunately, she hasn't taken to most of them, and is hardly eating anything. If this continues it looks like we'll lose her this year. 1 6

Popular Post Drew Espinosa Posted April 24, 2022 Popular Post Posted April 24, 2022 (edited) I realize that I've really never talked about my family's pets, other than when Guero died. And I at least want to talk about Chiquita right now. Y'all know I often jokingly call myself the God-Emperor, and y'all rebut with the fact that my mother is the Empress Mama who actually rules... we're both wrong, if there is any ruler in my household, it's our Princesa, Chiquita. And that's not even an exaggeration. You could often see her reclining like a sphinx, with one arm over the other, and not to mention the fact that her fur is rather long, so it looks like she has a mane; she's downright regal. And boy, does she know it. Out of everyone in my family, only my mother is allowed to hold her... everyone else, she'll hiss, claw, and bite if you so much as try picking her up. But if you just want to pet her, she'll allow it... mostly, lol. Now, if she comes rubbing against your legs, meowing, you know she needs some affection. So when you go to pet her, she'll welcome it with her purrs. Chiquita loves drinking from the bathroom faucet. So, if she spots any of us heading to the bathroom, you bet she'll follow us into the bathroom. Once inside, she'll jump onto the sink, look at you, and meow, until you turn on the faucet, but even then, she'll expect you to also stroke and pet her as she drinks from said faucet. So, if you originally entered the bathroom to, I don't know, brush your teeth or use the toilet, you better wait, haha. She also loves turkey slices... like, when we want to make a turkey sandwich, and we open the packaging for the slices, she'll rush towards us, and all but beg us for just a tiny bite. And, at least for me, I'll break under the onslaught more often than not, lol. She also loves saltine crackers. We'd break down a cracker into tiny bits for her to enjoy. Chiquita could also be playful, even long after her days as a kitten. Like, all you really needed was to spin a hairband about your finger on the floor... and she'd get down real low, her eyes focused in on the hairband, and when you launch it, she'd chase after it. Chiquita is about 14 years old now, and in all that time as our Princesa, she has shaped and changed our lives for the better. Reading back on what I've written, it comes across as if I'm complaining about serving Chiquita her every need, but I mean it all with genuine affection. And I can safely say, that I will gladly be her servant for the rest of her days. And I'll cherish her memories for the rest of mine. Edited April 26, 2022 by Drew Espinosa 7
