I only get a sound when someone either reacts to one of my posts, or quotes me in a comment.

Unless, I have accidently left the CoTT tab open in my browser. Then I do get a sound, plus an annoying little pop-up window in the bottom left of my screen.

Probably something to do with my Notification Settings, but they don't annoy me too much, so I can't be othered finding out.
