Hylas Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I just love this passage from Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls And I don't want the world to see me Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am Though it was purportedly tailor made for the movie 'City of Angels', it still fits too damn well with being gay and closeted and coming out to the person you love. Just letting them know who you are, even if you can't ever tell the world.

colinian Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 R.E.M. It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) (from official lyric sheet) That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane - Lenny Bruce is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn - world serves its own needs, regardless of your own needs. Feed it up a knock, speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height, down height. Wire in a fire, represent the seven games in a government for hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population, common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. World serves its own needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn, return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning, blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle, light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh, this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives and I decline. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine. The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite. Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs. Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic, slam, but neck, right? Right. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine... (It's time I had some time alone) From Absolute Lyrics. Colin
Krista Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Little Big Town - "To Know Love" Walk with me in the moonlight, babe, Lose ourselves in the star parade, And I will sing a midnight serenade for you. Dance with me in a field of green, Be so close I can hear you breathe, Be the end and the in between. 'Cause to know you is to know love, And to know love is to know enough. To walk with you. through this life. From now until the day I die, 'Cause what better way is there to live than to live with you. So put your sun in my silver sky, Put your rain in my river dry, Put your words in my lullaby, And I'll dream. 'Cause to know you is to know love, And to know love is to know enough. To walk with you. through this life. From now until the day I die, 'Cause what better way is there to live than to live with you. 'Cause to know you is to know love, And to know love is to know enough. To walk with you. through this life. From now until the day I die, 'Cause what better way is there to live than to live with you. --------- Krista
Tiger Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I thought I would share the lyrics to my favorite Celine Dion song "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." It's a cover of a song originially sang by Meatloaf and Marion Raven. It's a beautiful song about coming back to your true love. I prefer Celine's version. There were nights when the wind was so cold That my body froze in bed If I just listened to it Right outside the window There were days when the sun was so cruel That all the tears turned to dust And I just knew my eyes were Drying up forever I finished crying in the instant that you left And I can't remember where or when or how And I banished every memory you and I had ever made But when you touch me like this And you hold me like that I just have to admit That it's all coming back to me When I touch you like this And I hold you like that It's so hard to believe but It's all coming back to me (It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now) There were moments of gold And there were flashes of light There were things I'd never do again But then they'd always seemed right There were nights of endless pleasure It was more than any laws allow Baby Baby If I kiss you like this And if you whisper like that It was lost long ago But it's all coming back to me If you want me like this And if you need me like that It was dead long ago But it's all coming back to me It's so hard to resist And it's all coming back to me I can barely recall But it's all coming back to me now But it's all coming back There were those empty threats and hollow lies And whenever you tried to hurt me I just hurt you even worse And so much deeper There were hours that just went on for days When alone at last we'd count up all the chances That were lost to us forever But you were history with the slamming of the door And I made myself so strong again somehow And I never wasted any of my time on you since then But if I touch you like this And if you kiss me like that It was so long ago But it's all coming back to me If you touch me like this And if I kiss you like that It was gone with the wind But it's all coming back to me (It's all coming back, it's all coming back to me now) There were moments of gold And there were flashes of light There were things we'd never do again But then they'd always seemed right There were nights of endless pleasure It was more than all your laws allow Baby, Baby, Baby When you touch me like this And when you hold me like that It was gone with the wind But it's all coming back to me When you see me like this And when I see you like that Then we see what we want to see All coming back to me The flesh and the fantasies All coming back to me I can barely recall But it's all coming back to me now If you forgive me all this If I forgive you all that We forgive and forget And it's all coming back to me When you see me like this And when I see you like that We see just what we want to see All coming back to me The flesh and the fantasies All coming back to me I can barely recall but it's all coming back to me now (It's all coming back to me now) And when you kiss me like this (It's all coming back to me now) And when I touch you like that (It's all coming back to me now) If you do it like this (It's all coming back to me now) And if we, , ,
FrenchCanadian Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 God knows I could be posting so many great lyrics, I'll just add 2 extracts: I always wished that I could find someone as beautiful as you, But in the process I forgot that I was special too. I always wished that I could find someone as talented as you, But in the process I forgot that I was just as good as you. -- X-static process, madonna You have so many relationships in this life Only one or two will last You go through all the pain and strife Then turn your back and they're gone so fast ... So hold on then ones who really care In the end they'll be the only ones there And when you get old and start losing your hair Tell me who will still care. --Mmmbop, Hanson
Tiger Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 I'm not going to add the entire song, but here are some powerful lyrics in "Come to My Window" by Melissa Ethridge: I don't care what they think I don't care what they say What do they know about this Love anyway?
rich_e Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 It was so easy that night. Should have been strong, yeah, I lied Nobody gets me like you Couldn't keep hold of you then. How could I know what you meant? There was nothing to compare to I know everything changes, all the cities and faces But i know how I feel about you There's a mountain between us, but there's one thing I'm sure of That I know how I feel about you Can we bring yesterday back around? Cause I know how I feel about you now I was dumb, I was wrong, I let you down But I know how i feel about you now All that it takes, one more chance Don't let our last kiss be our last Give me tonight and I'll show you Not a day passed me by, not a day passed me by When I don't think about you And there's no moving on, cause I know you're the one And I can't be without you About You Now - Sugababes

I don't know if I'm reading something into it, but it really sounds to me like it's about a boy who knows he's gay but grows up and marries and such anyway, and is unhappy. You Won't Find This written by Tom Shapiro and Cathy Dennis sung by Carrie Underwood Did you check the tires Put gas in the car Don't think you'll need too much 'cause you ain't gonna get that far Did you pack the good times Don't forget a map Just in case the route you take isn't there to take you back (chorus) You can hold any girl that you like Fall in love when it's easy at night But you'll wake up wonddering why She ain't ever something better When you're lost and you've run out of road Find what I already know In the end close is all there is But you won't find this No, you won't find this Now there's once in a lifetime And there's once in a while And the difference between the two is about a million miles Oh, you might get lucky While the moon is looking on But in the truth of the morning the stars will be long gone (chorus) (chorus)

Hi, umm.. just wanted to say that this song wasn't origianally sung by Meatloaf and Marion Raven. Their rendition is the 2nd cover version after Celine's. The original was by a female band called "Pandora's Box" for their 1989 album "Original Sin". PS. I love this song as well though not my absolute fav.

Razor Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I just wish this one would get covered by someone who's a stronger vocalist. While this singer is great for soft, pretty, happy things, he doesn't have the voice I want for this song. I don't even know who would work better, but still... oh, and also it should be "boy" instead of "girl" just to gay it up a bit. It's a really beautiful song, even if it is extremely emo. Someday You Will Be Loved, by Death Cab for Cutie I once knew a girl in the years of my youth With eyes like the summer, all beauty and truth. In the morning I fled, left a note and it read: "Someday, you will be loved". I cannot pretend that I felt any regret 'Cause each broken heart will eventually mend, And as the blood runs red down the needle and thread, Someday, you will be loved. You'll be loved, You'll be loved, Like you never have known. Then the memories of me will seem more like bad dreams. Just a series of blurs like I never occurred. Someday, you will be loved. You may feel alone when you're falling asleep, And every time tears roll down your cheeks, But I know your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet. Someday, you will be loved. You'll be loved, You'll be loved, Like you never have known, And the memories of me will seem more like bad dreams. Just a series of blurs like I never occurred. Someday, you will be loved. You'll be loved, You'll be loved, Like you never have known, And the memories of me will seem more like bad dreams. Just a series of blurs like I never occurred. Someday, you will be loved. Someday, you will be loved.
Thirdeye Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Is it real? We're always the same We're almost alone now Well, I was caught in the rain Wasting my time on the ground Waiting to call Well, what would you say? And, can you come over? Well, I was caught in the rain Wasting my time on the ground It was you Who could get me high With whatever you say You're telling me something real What we do It doesn't matter now Whatever it takes For you to stay with me Trading thoughts Across from the room I saw you surrounded Well, I was caught in the rain Wasting my time on the ground Feeling small Without an escape I almost let you down Well, I was caught in the rain Wasting my time on the ground It was you Who could get me high With whatever you say You're telling me something real What we do It doesn't matter now Whatever it takes For you to stay with me It was you Who could get me high With whatever you say Telling me something real What we do It doesn't matter now When I was caught in the rain You made me feel You made me feel Made me feel I was caught in the rain Wasting my time on the ground Wasting my time on the ground I was caught in the rain Caught in the rain Caught in the Rain-Revis
S.L. Lewis Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) Okay, I have a couple of songs that mean a lot to me. Both of them are sung by Garth Brooks. The first one is 'Bellu Woods' and the other is 'The Thunder Rolls'. Belleau Wood by Garth Brooks album: Sevens (1997) Oh the snowflakes fell in silence Over Belleau Wood that night, For a Christmas truce had been declared By both sides of the fight. As we lay there in our trenches The silence broke in two, By a German soldier singing A song that we all knew. Though I did know the language, The song was Silent Night. Then I heard my buddy whisper, All is calm, all is bright. Then the fear and doubt surrounded me, 'Cause I'd die if i was wrong But I stood up in my trench, And I began to sing along. Then across the frozen battlefield, Anothers voice joined in, Until one by one each man became A singer of the hymn. Then I thought that I was dreaming For right there in my sight, Stood the German soldier Neath the fallen flakes of white. Then he raised his hand and smiled at me As if he seemed to say Heres hoping we both live To see us find a better way Then the devils clock struck midnight And the skys lit up again, And the battlefield where heaven stood Was blown to hell again But for just one fleeting moment The answer seemed so clear Heavens not beyond the clouds Its just beyond the fear No heavens not beyond the clouds Its for us to find here The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks album: No Fences (1990), Double Live (1998), The Hits (1994) Three thirty in the morning Not a soul in sight The city's lookin' like a ghost town On a moonless summer night Raindrops on the windshield There's a storm moving in He's headin' back from somewhere that he never should have been And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls Every light is burnin' In a house across town She's pacin' by the telephone In her faded flannel gown Askin' for a miracle Hopin' she's not right Prayin' it's the weather That's kept him out all night And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls (Chorus) The thunder rolls And the lightning strikes Another love grows cold On a sleepless night As the storm blows on Out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls She's waitin' by the window When he pulls into the drive She rushes out to hold him Thankful he's alive But on the wind and rain A strange new perfume blows And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes And he knows that she knows And the thunder rolls And the thunder rolls * The thunder rolls And the lightnin' strikes Another love grows cold, darlin' On a sleepless night As the storm blows on Out of control Deep in her heart The thunder rolls Edited February 6, 2008 by Rose Strailo

S.L. Lewis Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) I have three songs to contribute this time. It Only Hurts When I Breath Hope life's been good to you since you've been gone I'm doin' fine now-- I've finally moved on It's not so bad-- I'm not that sad I'm not surprised just how well I survived I'm over the worst, and I feel so aliveI can't complain-- I'm free again Chorus:And it only hurts when I'm breathing My heart only breaks when it's beating My dreams only die when I'm dreaming So, I hold my breath--to forget Don't think I'm lyin' 'round cryin' at night There's no need to worry, I'm really all right I've never looked back-- as a matter of fact Repeat Chorus It only hurts when I breathe Mmm, no, I've never looked back-- as a matter fact Repeat Chorus Hurts when I'm breathing Breaks when it's beating Die when I'm dreaming It only hurts when I breath Don't Don't! Don't you wish we'd tried? Do you feel what I feel inside? You know our love is stronger than pride No! Don't let your anger grow Just tell me what you need me to know Please talk to me -- don't close the door Cause' I wanna hear you, Wanna be near you (Chorus:) Don't fight! Don't argue you! Give me the chance to say that I'm sorry Just let me love you Don't turn me away -- Don't tell me to go Don't! Don't give up on trust Don't give up on me -- on us If we could just hold on long enough We can do it! We'll get through it! (Repeat Chorus) Don't pretend that it's okay Things won't get better that way Don't do something you might regret someday Don't! In Anothers Eyes By Garth Brooks Garth)In another's eyes I'm someone who Loves her enough To walk away from youI'd never cheat I'd never lie In another's eyes yeah, yeah (Trisha)In another's eyes I can do no wrong And he believes in me And his faith is strong I'd never fall Or even compromise In another's eyes (Together)In another's eyes I'm afraid that I can't see (Garth)This picture perfect portrait That they paint of me (Together)They don't realize And I pray they never do' Cause every time I look I'm seeing you In another's eyes (Garth)In another's eyes Starin' Back at me I see a sinkin' soul Tryin' desperately (Trisha)To turn the tide Before it dies In another's eyes (Together)And what they don't see Is killing me It's a blessing and a curse That love is blind' Cause in another's eyes I'm afraid that I can't see This picture perfect portrait That they paint of me And they don't realize And I pray to God they never do' Cause every time I look I'm seein' you (Garth) In another's eyes (Trisha) In another's eyes (Together) In another's eyes All three songs are very sentimental to me. I don't know if I'm reading something into it, but it really sounds to me like it's about a boy who knows he's gay but grows up and marries and such anyway, and is unhappy. So you totally read my mind, right? I thought the exact same thing when I heard that song. The dawn is breaking A light shining through You're barely waking And I'm tangled up in you Yeah I'm open, you're closed Where I follow, you'll go I worry I won't see your face Light up again Even the best fall down sometimes Even the wrong words seem to rhyme Out of the doubt that fills my mind I somehow find You and I collide I'm quiet you know You make a frist impression I've found I'm scared to know I'm always on your mind Even the best fall down sometimes Even the stars refuse to shine Out of the back you fall in time I somehow find You and I collide Even the best fall down sometimes Even the wrong words seem to ryhme Out of the doubt that fills your mind You finally find You and I collide You finally find You and I collide You finally find You and I collide "Collide" by Howie Day
Krista Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 "Collide" by Howie Day Love that song. Now on to - Little Big Town -- "Lonely Enough" Its been a long time since I've prayed Let the words fall where they may Forgive me now for what I'm 'bout to say Tired of bein' on my knees Sick of beggin' you please Since the day you took him away from me God, how much more do I have to hurt How far down do you wanna see me go tell me. God, you don't know the sadness of this place You got the angels and the saints So give me back my love Don't you think I'm lonely enough You got the power in your hands To change the master plan Every star and every grain of sand You keep bringing back the day Just roll the stone away Before there's nothing left of me to say God, how much more do I have to hurt How far down do you wanna see me go tell me. God, you don't know the sadness of this place You got the angels and the saints So give me back my love Don't you think I'm lonely enough God, how much more do I have to hurt How far down do you wanna see me go tell me God, you don't know the sadness of this place... Show me amazing grace And give me back my love Don't you think I'm lonely enough Won't you give me back my love Don't you think I'm lonely enough... Don't you think I'm lonely enough.

Well it goes like this The fourth, the fifth The minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah ... I just really "discovered" this song yesterday - after having heard versions of it in movies and tv shows everywhere, I finally went and did a systematic search for covers. My favorite version is KD Lang's, I think.

cellArdore Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Jeff Buckley's version is incredible. It's one of the few songs that I think demands a male voice. yeah, I think Buckley's is the best, but the original by Cohen is cool too! I have a version performed by Imogen Heap... it's totally bad, just doesn't sound honest here are some of the songs I like: _______ "Spawn again" by Silverchair Death becomes clearer through bloodshot eyes As a death from old age becomes nearer Why can't the livestock be free When trading soldiers for steak Learn to evolve with the new transition To act upon a hypocritical vision Discard the old in with the new Discard the old in with the fashion Who is the bad guy For iron require mince, these are the facts so eat what you murder, this is animal liberation, eight billion killed for human pleasure, bring on the ape farm, demolish the monkeys, drink up drink up, look down on junkies I'll hold it back, hold it back Discard the old in with the new Discard the old in with the fashion Death becomes clearer through bloodshot eyes Death becomes clearer through bloodshot eyes _ "A forest" by The Cure Come closer and see See into the trees Find the girl While you can Come closer and see See into the dark Just follow your eyes Just follow your eyes I hear her voice Calling my name The sound is deep In the dark I hear her voice And start to run Into the trees Into the trees Into the trees Suddenly I stop But I know it's too late I'm lost in a forest All alone The girl was never there It's always the same I'm running towards nothing Again and again and again _ "Sally's Song" by Fiona Apple I sense there's something in the wind That seems like tragedy's at hand And though I'd like to stand by him Can't shake this feeling that I have The worst is just around the bend And does he notice my feelings for him? And will he see how much he means to me? I think it's not to be What will become of my dear friend Where will his actions lead us then? Although I'd like to join the crowd In their enthusiastic cloud Try as I may, it doesn't last And will we ever end up together? No, I think not, it's never to become For I am not the one And will we ever end up together? No, I think not, it's never to become For I am not the one _ "Make yourself" by Incubus If I hadn't made me, I would've been made somehow. If I hadn't assembled myself, I'dve fallen apart by now. If I hadn't made me, I'd be more inclined to bow. Powers that be would have swallowed me up, but that's more than I can allow. If you let them make you, they'll make you paper-mache. At a distance you're strong, until the wind comes then you crumble and blow away. If you let them f*ck you, there will be no foreplay. But rest assured, they'll screw you complete til' your ass is blue and grey. You should make amends with you. If only for better health. But if you really want to live, why not try and Make Yourself? If I hadn't made me, I'dve fallen apart by now. I won't let em' make me, it's more than I can allow. So when I make me, I won't be papier-mache. And if I f*ck me...I'll f*ck me in my own way. You should make amends with you. If only for better health. But if you really want to live, why not try and Make Yourself? Make Yourself.
