In Ottawa, Prime Minister Will Carter stands on the brink of a nation’s collapse, and his own. Haunted by the disappearance of his husband and the treason rotting the Canadian state, Will his idealism and takes up the mantle of the King of the North. As The Order’s conspiracy roils the capital, the government fractures under the weight of betrayal. With the Emergencies Act invoked, arrests sweep through Parliament Hill, exposing a web of corruption that reaches into the military, the civil service, and the opposition itself. Forced to choose between morality and survival, Will launches a ruthless purge to save the country he swore to defend. In a world counting down to annihilation, he becomes judge, executioner, and shield, determined to excise the rot before the nation itself is consumed.

It's usually not a single, monumental failure that leads to a catastrophe; it's a series of small, almost unnoticed, errors that fall like dominoes.

A spectacular opening salvo in this fight!

Act II: The Ghost of Christmas Past
andy cannon commented on andy cannon's story chapter in Act II: The Ghost of Christmas Past
Welp, I have been warned, but you know how the relationships between characters and writers are... sometimes we say, "Jump", and they ask "How high?" Sometimes we say, "Jump", and they ask, "How 'bout you go fuck yourself?" I fear this may be the latter case. -
Parley with a Demon
andy cannon commented on ValentineDavis21's story chapter in Parley with a Demon
The tree of fur that started out at the top of his chest, trailing down his torso; Crowe took particular notice how the muscles, solid as stone, pressed through the fur. The trail of fur continued down to his groin. His eyes halted on the lycan’s sheath. It seemed to twitch with a life of its own. The skin was a dark pink with darker veins of purple branching through the flesh like tributaries. The saliva in his mouth evaporated at the sight of the lycan’s balls - massive things the size of the practitioner’s fist. Barghast’s sheath twitched again with fluid. A drop of viscous white fluid dripped from the column of spongy tissue that hardened as his arousal became more and more apparent. The tapering head of his cock peeked through. OMG! If Crowe doesn't want him, give Barghast my number. -
I wasn't sure that I had really heard someone banging around in the kitchen, so I huddled on the couch with the blanket pulled up to my chin, straining to hear. Just as I was ready to write it off as the wind, aided and abetted by too many Stephen King novels, I heard it again, more clattering and clunking, clearly from the kitchen, this time accompanied by someone rendering my all-time most-hated holiday song, "Little Drummer Boy," in an horrendous way... I know what you're asking, and I agree.

Frosted Hearts: The Abyss
andy cannon commented on Jason Rimbaud's story chapter in Frosted Hearts: The Abyss
Percy Baby has a cool head in an emergency, but he might want to work on his 'bedside manner'. Telling someone with a broken arm and broken ribs 'quit being a baby' as you manhandle him out of a ravine doesn't display much empathy!😁 -
Chapter 4: Hidden agendas
andy cannon commented on vanalas's story chapter in Chapter 4: Hidden agendas
I am really dismayed by how these vile people treat Julian. I am *this close* to writing some fan fiction so all of these monsters can get their comeuppance NOW!!! 😄😁 -
Just be glad I moved beyond the early draft where he spiked the eggnog with tequila!

The Calm Between Storms

Another great chapter! -
Yea! Jack the Wonder Horse to the rescue! I'm looking forward to peeling back the layers of this scam to see what the corruption is all about.

The mysterious Belgian, Thomas, is intriguing. I see a lot of complications from him as this goes forward.

Frustrated, I hurled my paper cup toward the fireplace. It didn’t so much fly as it did flutter, collapsing halfway across the room and landing with a sad little sigh. Even my rage had low self-esteem. “I hate Christmas!” I shouted to my empty living room. It was Christmas Eve, and I was alone in the drafty Victorian house I was supposed to be renovating with my boyfriend, Charles. Correction: my ex-boyfriend. No... correction again: my motherfucking-ex-boyfri

Dumped before Christmas, Brandon must endure a full Dickensian haunting... only gayer, drunker, and significantly more sarcastic. A ribald, irreverent twist on a classic tale, this is a holiday story about heartbreak, hauntings, and learning that the only thing scarier than ghosts… is self-reflection.

A very readable story about great characters and tickling,

It takes an enormous amount of courage to face down a frightened mob. Well done, Crowe!

Silas should surrender now. Between Theo's street smarts, Sawyer's moral courage and Jack's thirst for vindictive retribution. he doesn't stand a chance.

Elias Sawyer, a by-the-book Pinkerton agent, arrives in the boom town of Silver Creek expecting a simple robbery case. Instead, he finds a barefoot prodigy named Theo, a horse with Opinions, and clues that implicate Sawyer’s own agency. When an ambush and a damning shell casing expose a deeper corruption, Sawyer must choose between obedience and truth. With Theo as his unlikely partner (and maybe more) he dives into a conspiracy that’s bleeding the town dry. But Silver Creek has predators of its own, and Sawyer may be their leverage.

Hunter is initially intrigued by Miguel but gets mixed signals from him. Zach explicitly dismisses Miguel as trouble, but the Colombian 'heartthrob' roars back into the picture with some vulnerable humility. I'm enjoying the ambiguity in the character. I like Juan Camilo and love Max. ¡Qué buen chico!

Great chapter! No worries about the cliffhanger 'cause I am confident everything will work out. It would be an interesting wrinkle if Jody can't accommodate Len, and if they have to deal with that.

A sweet character-driven short story about renewing lost love. Worth the time to read this feel-good tale.

The Big Misunderstanding that could have been resolved with, you know, NORMAL communication skills is a tired, overused trope in romance tales, but chris191070 cleverly refreshes that and subverts it by placing it ten years before this short story opens. A lovely story of missed opportunity and rekindling the embers of a lost love.

An exciting, fast-paced thriller set in the remote reaches of Quebec. It has all the hallmarks of its genre, a quickly moving plot; clearly delineated good guys vs bad guys whose motives are not unnecessarily complicated; military grade weaponry; and high-tech toys galore.
