  1. Thanks, Nick! Glad you enjoyed it
  2. Haha! Oh wow! I can't believe this happened to someone else too! Yours sounds even more embarrassing though!
  3. Oh Luc I'm so sorry all that happened to you I'm really glad you're back though and doing better. I think you're handling all of this extremely well! Way to go! I'm most certainly not trying to encourage you one way or the other with Scott, but I do have to say that all of that sound very romantic in a "as fate would have it" sort of way. Of course I urge you to think things out and make the best possible decisions you can for yourself. You're terrific! -Kevin
  4. Hey LC First off, welcome to the blogging world! I can't wait to see what other fascinating things you have in store for us! I really liked this poem! I seriously think it's an excellent coming out poem, and I think it would do alot of good for other gay people to read it when they're on their own journey from the closet. It's a great start! Perhaps it would help if I told you the things I was thinking when reading it. 1) Obviously right away I was like "Ohh, it's about coming out" 2) Toward the end it seems to be a sort of love poem too. Like someone specific gave you the courage to accept who you are and be yourself. This is in contrast to the initial reaction I had that the poem was directed to someone who didn't know. The last line (really powerful and moving btw) instantly made me think "WOW! This poem would be great to recite as wedding vows" (but two of my best friends - lesbians - just got married so weddings, especially gay weddings, are probably on my mind more than usual) 3) It has definite Christian overtones. You may or may not have meant to include that, but a lot of the phrasing is similar and reminiscent of that used in Christian worship. For example the whole "Because I know who I am, I am yours" screams Christian profession of Faith and surrender to me. Similarly the part about finding courage to be yourself and the "You've showed me who I am, You've showed me what is right" brings to mind other common Christian themes. Anyway, they say that how one interprets a poem says more about the person than the poem, so it makes sense that I'd read it that way. I'm gay and have gone through the coming out process. I'm a romantic person and on top of that my two best friends just got married. I've lately been re-vitalizing my Christian Faith, but from a homosexuality accepting perspective. Of course what really matters obviously isn't my interpretation of the poem. It also doesn't even matter that much how the people in your life, the people you may have been trying to come out to, interpret it. What matters most is how it made you feel to write it. I think poetry in general, and this poem in particular, is about expressing your feelings and getting something out. It sounds to me like you did that. So in my opinion it doesn't matter that other (non-gay) people don't understand it, nor does it matter what I or anyone else at the site thought of it (really enjoyed it though ). I think it was very brave of you to post that on your myspace! And don't worry about rushing to come out, I mean it sounds like you're starting to be ready for it and I think that's awesome, and if you are ready you should do it, but remember to do it at your own pace and when you are ready. There's also one important thing that you have to remember: Your coming out is completely and entirely about you and no one else. Several years ago, well before I even thought about coming out a friend of mine came out. Only I didn't hear it from him, I heard it through the gossip mill. So the next time I saw him when we were with mutual friends who also knew, I just casually and supportively mentioned something about him being gay to let him know that I knew and was okay with it, and that since I would have been the only one there that night that he might have to "hide it from" it wasn't necessary and he could just relax and be himself. Anyway, he just smiled and responded and went with it, and everything was cool. Later that evening though, after we'd both had several drinks, we were talking about it and he said that he was so sorry that he hadn't told me himself and that he'd been worried that I'd be mad/hurt that I didn't hear it first hand. And actually I had been, but in that moment I suddenly came to the great truth about coming out and instead responded, "Dude, this isn't about me at all, it's about you". And I remembered that when I came out myself, and it really helped. So remember, this is about YOU, not any boyfriend you may or may not have, not any of your friends, and not even any of your family, just you. Like I said, I'm proud of you way to go! I'm sorry **Sassy finger wave/hip swing** You go, boy! All the best Kevin
  5. Jamie, I LOVE this! It's exactly in line with my own taste and fascination with the English language. I've had hours of pleasure analyzing the many phrases in which we use the word "way". Once a few months ago at work I was in a small area with one of my very nice coworkers and when she saw me she apologetically asked "Do you need me to move out of your way?" Naturally I replied, "Of course not. My way is plenty big enough for both of us". This is very beautiful, Camy! This is too There are tons of lines from literature that I absolutely love. Unfortunately this one is the only one that I can recall at the moment. It's actually taken from J Finn's "The Human Condition" (something every fan of gay literature, especially online gay literature, needs to read with all due haste). "He was charming and funny and if you didn't look real close, you could almost miss that his heart was broken." I've always liked to think that in times of heartbreak I would conduct myself in similar fashion.

Davey!!!!! I've really missed you! WOW! It does sound like you've been busy! A new house? COOL! How do you like it so far? Do you like the new town and neighbours etc? That's so awesome about the new job too! That sounds like a really cool thing to be doing! You won't have to move every time you guys open a new location though will you? I bet you're looking forward to Chris coming to join you! Take care and have an awesome day! Kevin
  12. Hey Joe! LOL, are you sure you don't work in one of the places I used to work!? I think pretty much all work places are gossip mills. It's just sorta human nature I think. I mean you see the same people every day for hours at a time, yet often you don't know very much about their personal life. There's bound to be curiosity. Ahh yes, the "gay best friend", been there. I think we can blame television/movies for this one. LOL, there's so many "gay best friends" in the media that I think quite a few straight people feel like they need one of these to have a complete social circle. "Ohh, you're gay! Excellent! I've been meaning to get one of you guys!" Vic's right I think, enjoy the attention while it's there. If it does bother you though you might try hanging out with more GLBT people. LOL, there'll be less novelty for them LOL, you know the exhaustion could also be a symptom of the Strep throat hope you feel better soon, take care and have an awesome day! Kevin
  13. So I had a bit of time today between appointments and I remembered that I was running low on toothpaste and deodorant. So I figured I'd pop into the nearest drugstore - a Walgreens - and pick some up. Well I had no trouble finding the toothpaste I was after (Crest Vivid White in the "invigorating mint" flavour ). The deodorant on the other hand proved to be much more difficult! I'd literally walked down every aisle and STILL hadn't found it. The very last aisle that I checked, the aisle which I was sure must contain it (since I'd checked every other aisle) turned out to be equally devoid of all things antiperspirant. Instead it turned out to be the condom/lube/personal hygiene aisle. In frustration I said to myself (in my head) "NO, I don't need condoms right now, just deodorant". As I turned away and walked back into the center aisle a very friendly, very eager-to-please Walgreens associate stopped me and asked: "Can I help you find anything?" now this question came as quite a relief to me, so I smiled and very enthusiastically replied: "Yes! Where are the condoms?" Apparently they were still on my mind...and lips as it turned out. Oh well, could have been much worse. I could just as easily have asked where the tampons were. For anyone who was wondering, I finally did find the deodorant. It was along the back wall and I'd evidently walked right by it. Unfortunately, while as I said their toothpaste selection was top notch (and their condom selection was none too shabby either), they were very limited when it came to deodorant choices. I am a bit picky about deodorant, and none would do, so I still need to go and buy deodorant. Before I embark on my next toiletries quest though I think I'm going to carefully write out the phrase: "I need deodorant" lest any other poor sales associate be faced with the embarrassing, albeit amusing, task of having to show a very over-excited and impatient gay boy where the condoms are.
  14. Aww thanks Viv! I miss you too We HAVE to catch up soon!!! Take care and have an awesome day!! Kevin

  20. Hmmm, I've thought long about this, and believe me I have quite a supply of embarrassing stories. I won't go into the time in college when I accidentally, and all too unknowingly, paraded around my apartment, while my roommates were having company no less, with my butt completely visible. Nor will I go into the time in high school when my friends and I were stuck in traffic at the top of a very long bridge, and I decided that having consumed a bit too much vodka now would be the perfect time to throw up all over them, myself, and the vehicle. Instead boys and girls I'll share with you my standard "embarrassing moment" story. This happened when I was about 16 or 17. I was in my hometown and I pulled up to one of the local shops (okay, actually it was the liquor store, but that was purely coincidental; I was there for something else). So I pull up, I park, and I reach for the door handle...only the door won't open. Well, it was old truck, so I figured maybe it was stuck. SO I pushed harder. Still no luck. Undeterred I thought perhaps if I really nudged it, it would open. So I'm sitting there throwing my whole weight against the door and pulling on the handle, the whole truck is shaking like mad...but the door STILL won't open. By now I'm starting to freak out a bit. "No problem" I think "I'll just call someone and calmly explain that I'm trapped". It was at this point that I realized I'd forgotten to grab my cell phone when I left the house. So by now I'm borderline hysterical and I actually begin trying to find something I can use to break the glass and climb out...It was at this time that I realized "Oh duh! You can just roll the window down" ....alas the story DOES NOT end there. After rolling down the window and beginning to climb out my knee brushed against something. It's amazing how much more easily doors open when you unlock them. -Kevin
  21. Exactly! I found that so inappropriate. At least they left out my favourite line though (which woulda been completely inappropriate): "I'm gonna rip off the roof and stay in bed". I'd hardly consider myself a prude, and certainly not homophobic, but I definitely wouldn't let my 13 year old son sing that video on YouTube. On the other hand I wouldn't let my 13 year old daughter do it either. Anyway, I gotta agree with the others: the kid's gay but not technically out yet. Sure it's possible that he just picked the song because he liked it or something, but there's very few straight 13 year old guys who would sing that. Just my thoughts, Kevin
  22. WOOO HOOOO!!!! Congrats Graeme!!! ***pops open a bottle of champaign and pours everyone a glass*** I've thoroughly enjoyed your posts and I'm always very eager to see another one! You've consistently had some of the most insightful, helpful, and all around interesting things to say! I look forward to reading the next 2,000!! LOL, and I'm resigned to the fact that you'll no doubt pass me up some time next week Take care and have an awesome day! Kevin
  23. I think we've got an oxymoron on our hands here (I get to be bitchy because I'm gay :king: ) Oh my gosh! That would make a really funny Monty Python skit!
  24. I just realized that it's been approaching three weeks and I still hadn't posted in this thread! LOL, so lest Dom is waiting to release chapter 21 until hears my comments here goes Hmm, well that does sound hot, but it still kinda creeps me out! Dennis and Owen together (especially physically) seems really wrong! Hmm, my guess is that if he saw Owen kiss Travis he and Dennis will decide to let bygones be bygones for the sake of winning back the men they love, and as a result start going at it like rabbits under the nearest table so as to make Owen and Travis jealous. Personally I think Travis is just as likely more likely to break Dennis' heart than vice versa. I think they're both likely to live through any break up/split just fine though. Congrats, Sharon!! I'm not sure I agree with the observation that Lacy is the only one to have noticed. I think Ryan definitely has too. I think it's even debatable that Ben's noticed a change. Actually, I was just thinking that that part seems very much out of character for Kyle (though I agree that we don't know that much about him). I mean in the first chapter in his interaction with his fish he seems to be painted as someone who worries but tries to let the objects of his worry conduct their own affairs (I.E. he didn't break up the potentially deadly fish fight). HOWEVER, in pretty much every chapter we've seen him in since then (especially the paying the bill chapter) he's instead seemed very intent on interfering with Travis' affairs. I guess Aiden does seem different to me as well. However, I'm less bothered by this seeming inconsistency. My theory would be that if Aiden is being more immature, selfish, and all around blockheaded, it's not so unexpected. I mean he was basically forced to "grow up fast" and take care of his alcoholic mother, plus handle all the other issues in his life. Now that that's sort of been taken care of he has the luxury of acting more like the kid he may not have gotten the chance to be before. Apart from that people don't always progress. There's a lot of truth to the one step forward, two backward saying. Especially at this phase in people's lives. I didn't really think so. I mean who's to say Travis was being completely honest? Personally my initial reaction was that he probably wasn't. My theory is that he still just really wants her approval, and still cares about what she thinks. I think this is also hinted at if not out-right said in the story as well. I agree that it doesn't make much sense to me from my perspective, and I personally can't see myself feeling that way in his situation either, but people unceasingly seeking the approval of people in their past who mistreated them seems to be a common enough thing that I'm not really surprised by it. I've used up my "ten quotes" so: Conner said in reference to how long it had been since the last chapter was posted: More like 10 days, according to the first post in this thread - June 18. Did you guys know that on the chapter index page for the story it says when the page was last updated (and thus when the most recent chapter was added) right at the bottom? I used to...well still do, use this as a quick way of telling me whether or not there's a new chapter when I look at the index. (I often forget exactly which chapter number I last read, but I'll know about when it should have happened). Take care and have an awesome day all Kevin
  25. LOL, you mean something like: "Uhhh, right there" "I have to tell you something" "What?" Dirk asked and he readjusted Mike's leg "I killed Prof. Plum in the library with the wrench" "Faster!!"
