Water in my glass; air in my pipes
AFriendlyFace commented on AFriendlyFace's blog entry in Chronicles of My Life
Hey Tob! Me?? NEVER YAY!! **sigh** Yes, I think about it pretty much everyday. I have lots of ideas too, I just don't have the discipline or focus to finish anything. I wrote over half an entry for the summer anthology then I just sorta got distracted and never went back to it. I was REALLY having a good time writing it too, and I liked the way it was coming out. Just after two writing sessions I pretty much knew exactly what I wanted to do with it and I guess without the mystery I sorta lost interest. I've always tended to write things in one sitting (whether it was school work or recreational writing), anymore than that and I guess I get antsy. Lately I've been thinking of trying my hand at short stories, might be easier for me to finish. Anyway thanks for saving that, it really made me happy Have an awesome day and take care! Kevin -

Hey Tob! LOL I did think of that but... Because Kevin isn't that bourgeoisie exactly Vic!! I was thinking the exact same thing. Sharon LOL Sharon, I guess I just wasn't that desperate yet. LOL Thanks you guys! Have a fantastic day and take care Kevin -
Amen to that! I just wanted to say that I read the first four chapters tonight and really enjoyed them! The story is extremely well-written and compelling and I can't wait to find out what happens next! There seems to be quite alot going on and I'm eager to find out how the ghost is related to all this stuff with Driver. I'm also eager to see more of Evan's parents, and very much looking forward to Evan's visit with Ryan at the ice cream place!! It's an awesome story! Way go to!! Kevin

Oh ye of little faith, Matty

Hey Camy! First off I'm so glad things are going so well with you and Mick . I bet it is really hard to wait like that, but it's probably a good idea in the long run to take things slow and have plenty of time to work out and communicate all your feelings. I definitely agree that complete fidelity is very important. I suppose the dynamic has to be set in each individual relationship. Some couples are fine with their partners openly pointing out attractive people...this would make me rather uncomfortable. Other couples if they so much as catch their partner glancing at someone else there's hell to pay...that too would make me uncomfortable. Personally I think it ought to be a sort of middle ground where you don't desperately try to control the urge to take in and notice the sight of a beautiful person, but I think it ought to be discrete, and I don't think you ought to lust over them. That's just my opinion though. As I said I think it probably has to be determined in each relationship. So perhaps it is good then that you guys have some extra time to sort all that stuff out. I wish you the very best with it and I'm really happy for you Yay! on the music gig. You're right it is awesome to be paid for doing something you love! What type of music? Anyway take care and have an awesome day! Kevin

Wax my vehicle? No way . LOL I've never waxed or handwashed a vehicle I've owned. About once a year (and sadly I'm not exageerating) I might take it through one of those drive through car washes. I'm completely uninterested in cars except as a means to take me from one point to another, I don't really care what I drive or how it looks. LOL I'm getting better though, I at least know some brand names now, in high school when people asked me what kind of vehicle I drove I usually replied, "white". (I have a red one now ) The person below me is similarly apathetic towards cars

I'm not going to directly dispute that, but I think it's worth considering that another major quality of 1st person narratives is that you're privy to everything that goes on in the character's mind. Sure somethings are said about how Frank feels, but it could be much more tumultuous in his head. With 3rd person narratives we're basically evaluating based on actions. With 1st person the evaluation is often based on thoughts. Is Frank consistently behaving more maturely than Nelson (Or Owen, Quinn, or Rory)? He may very well be, but he's going to seem to be for sure because we aren't hearing, "I can't believe how unfair this is! My mom totally doesn't get this! Why I am stuck in this little hole-in-the-wall nothing town?! Why can't Oliver just answer any of my questions directly?" Also even if he's behaving more maturely he has to! Quinn and Nelson especially faced virtually no conflict that wasn't directly related to their feelings, or their lives. The events going on around Frank have very little to do with his feelings (he feeling things, but his feelings aren't causing them and are largely irrelevant). Basically Frank has to "step up". Would Quinn or Nelson? I think so. Third-person narrative is definitely the way to go for this story. It simply wouldn't be as creepy and mysterious any other way. Have a great day all and take care, Kevin

So they finally processed my insurance license and issued it Monday. Thus I've actually been working this week. Well sort of. I'm off to a rather slow start, but I hear that's typical. Still a bit of a downer though. Still I shan't give up! (nor shall I quit using archaic grammer) Mostly this week I've been struggling to get on some type of schedule that makes more sense. I guess I'm a little bit closer, but I'm just fighting my natural inclinations to stay up until the early morning and then sleep until the early afternoon. It's not a pattern I've gotten in from all my time off, it's a pattern I've been in since I was born. Anyway my plan for today was to get up at 8:30 and go into the office all day and work there where'd they'd be less distractions and more people to offer advice/tips. (I'm technically "self-employed" so I set my own hours, and can work completely from home if I want to - well there's one meeting a week that I'm "strongly encouraged" to attend but anyway) So anyway I got up at 10:30 ( ), and went to have a shower. The thing about showers though is that one of their primary components is water. Without water you're just standing their naked rubbing thick, gooy, liquids all over yourself. My shower was lacking in water . My bathroom sink was similarly afflicted, as was my toilet. No surprise of course given their close proximity; if one catches an ailment the other's bound to get a bit sick too. The real shocker, however, was that my kitchen sink had also contracted this rampant case of plumbing dehydration. A quick call to the management in my apartment complex confirmed what I was already strongly suspicious of: the water's off. Apparently it'll remain off until about 4:30 while they do who knows what. In the mean time I can't have my shower, or even brush my teeth . The thing about me is I'm kind of a stickler for personal hygiene. On a typical day I take between 2-4 showers/baths, and brush my teeth 3-5 times. Sounds a bit excessive I know, but it's because I like to do both activities morning and night ..err when I wake up and go to sleep , and then again each time I exercise or go for a run/walk. I also have a tendency to let my distracted side take over at least once or twice when I go to the bathroom for routine purposes and before I know what's happened I've brushed my teeth. So anyway being waterless is quite a sucky predicament for me to be in. I just feel too icky to go out, and obviously it would be exceedingly stupid to go for a run or something when I can't shower or bath upon my return. I guess I could work a bit now from here, but the evening is actually the peak the time to do it anyway. My mouth feels to grungy to to eat anything...plus I couldn't brush my teeth after, and it would have to be prepared waterfree...SO food consumption's out. I might read a bit, but chances are I'll opt to partake in one of the best methods known for passing the time (minds OUT of the gutter,,,I'd want a shower after that :king: ): I'm going to go back to sleep for awhile. Sure it'll screw up what little progress I'd made realigning my schedule but whatever. On the bright side since I literally stockpile bottled/jugged water in my pantry I've got plenty to drink. So at least I won't catch the dehydration bug. Anyway take care and have a terrific day everyone! Kevin

This was quite a chapter! I don't think it really brings us any closer in answering the question of whether David and Oliver are one. We can definitely surmise now that David is extremely jealous of Oliver, but that could be because Oliver takes over the body, or because he's his parent's favourite and main focus. This chapter does make Mr. Martin look like the bad guy, but I'm still curious about what happened with Mr. Dron. Also did anyone else think how odd it was that Stephanie and Rudy looked so much alike? I think it's the same thing as having the sherif be "Mr. Crook", and making him a taxidermist with all this talk of dead animals: just another unsettling little detail Dom's throwing in to make the story even creepier, but that probably isn't directly related to the storyline. Frank sure is a manipulative worming his way into the photography club like that! Jenny seems to already have a crush on him too. Could make the story even more complicated than before! Yet I also got the feeling Jenny could end up being a good friend to Frank. ********************************* So borrowing a page from Nick's book here's my theory: Mr. Martin and Mr. Dron are the same person; an escaped mental patient with a penchant for photography. He's set up a double life to try to throw the police off the trail, and as his Mr. Martin guise has passed on his mental illness to his son: Doliver. Meanwhile as Mr. Dron he's having a long-term affair with Francine Barker and has sired a daughter: Jenny. Of course because Francine couldn't raise a child with a lunatic like Dron/Martin she allowed the Woodmoores to adopt Jenny. The only discernible trace in Jenny of her crazy father is their shared passion for photography. Jenny secretly wants a little sister and has become obsessed with taking pictures of Stephanie. Naturally when Rudy moves to town she expands the fantasy to include TWIN little sisters and takes to lurking outside of Rudy's window in her black hoodie. Jenny of course is also a tad over the edge so when she sees Doliver, the child her father kept, she freaks out and attacks him a large stick. Mary Martin, unable to handle the shame of being the wife and mother of crazy people is dead set on protecting the family secrets at all costs. Thus when her neighbour, Odetta Grover, a meddling witch, discovers their horrible secrets by posing as a cat, inflitrating the home, and cuddling up to love-starved Doliver, Mary is of course forced to brutally kill her. However, the old witch's power was considerable and as the life force slowly left her bloated, drowned corpse she used her dying energy to compell Frank's father to leave the family so that Frank, Jessica, and Rudy would be forced to move into her old residence. Odetta realized all along that young, gay Frank would be completely unable to resist Doliver's balmy charms and would naturally fall hopelessly in love him. Of course Doliver no longer trusts cats and has taken to dissecting them alive and bringing their lifeless bodies to Mr. Crook to stuff. The real question is: will Frank will allow himself to fall pray to Jenny's wily, seductive ways (she's already taken to dressing in male drag and playing hard to get in order to entice the lad), marry her, and thus give her the little sister (-in-law) that she's always wanted? OR will he accept Doliver in all his fiendish, feline-killing glory and accept his and Crook's offer to be a silent partner in their new buisness venture: selling freakishly realistic stuff animals to kids? So there you go. It's really all quite logical if you think about it. I'd also like to take this opportunity to proclaim myself a FAD-WCITE (Frank And Doliver - With Cats In The End) Kevin

I agree! I agree there too! Here's what I'm thinking (well more like hoping): 1) David and Oliver are seperate people. 2) It wasn't David who took that picture, but Mr. Dron. UNLESS Mr. Dron has been killed as Narcidius suggested, in which case it's his killer. 3) whoever the attacker (be it Mr. Dron or his murderer) hates David and thus attacked Oliver 4) David is the one who kills the animals...but I'm flexible on this, it might be the attacker or even both. True but what if Mr. Dron (I mostly think it is Mr. Dron, I think he's still alive and it's him, just the other theory is worth considering) and David were up early having some sort of altercation I disagree, there's no evidence that they've found out David is missing. Oliver heard them on the other side of the door. Maybe they haven't been in yet. Also even if they have there's no real reason they should be especially concerned when he does this all the time, AND failing all that there's not even any reason to think they aren't concerned if they do know. He may play an important role later, but I'm not certain of that personally. The fact that he's well described only proves that Dom is a thoughtful writer, besides having him be well defined made sense not only because it made that part of the story more enjoyable to read, but also because that part centered around him so it was fairly necessary. It had to center around him because he had to see the hooded figure as he left. So he may be back...or else maybe he's mostly served his purpose and will now become a secondary character. Right also he had already taken pictures of Frank before, I know Oliver said "Frank's family", but David could have taken it to refer to that. I agree As I've said I think the attacker wanted to hurt David, but even if Oliver did think it was David, he might not have brought it up just then, especially if they had any conversation they were going to have about it the previous night, and David was just out early that morning. Or else maybe Oliver "forgot" Why would David hit Oliver (and again I think it was the attacker who meant to hit DAVID), perhaps he's already told him to stay away from Frank and he's mad. So I guess a summery of my theory is that: -David and Oliver are two seperate people. -David does bad things to animals. -Mr. Dron is either the "attacker" or has been killed by the attacker (I think he's the attacker himself). -The attacker/Mr. Dron doesn't like David. WHy? My guess is because they both take pictures. May both be in this photography club, and have some sort of rivalry going. -Angela is weary from her long flight from Arizona and that's why she was so cranky in the Kitchen Did anyone else notice the irony of having the sherif be named "Mr. Crook"? Also wasn't it creepy that given all the things about animals in this story that he's a taxidermist? I don't mean to imply that he's a crook or an animal killer...it's just a nice little creepy detail. Okay that about covers what I think for now Have an awesome day everyone and take care! Kevin
