Loved this chapter. The following was simply well written…
Marcus felt the impact of change as well, but for him life felt more hopeful, brighter, as if he had weathered the worst of the storm already. The sun was breaking through the clouds, and despite the carnage, he was encouraged by the sudden rainbow arching over his broken past. He reached across the table, gently pulling the ceramic mug from Joshua’s tight grip. He set it aside, taking the now empty hand into his.
Let's hope the iceberg called mom, will not be driving the car any time soon, there just may be a car called Titanic out there...
What a cold fish she has turned out to be, therapy might help....
Killian, very quickly you are earning full marks in assuming dolt-hood. I mean WTF, you have the book/journal from under the bed, it could possibly answer oodles of questions...and what do you do...put it back without reading it...I suspect you might be taking stupid pills in the morning...
Dear old sperm donor, here's hoping you get your just comeuppance...it will be very interesting to see how the attempt to sweep any hint of assault under the rug...it is a matter of public record now...go to the press and TV stations, even if it has to be out of town news outlets...

As a side note, John Hay, who had a stellar career after serving Lincoln was quite the good-looking young man with sultry/bedroom eyes...
Well between hurricanes and the new law requiring condo associations to have fully funded their reserve funds, thanks to that unfortunate collapse of the multi-story condo building due to deferred maintenance, many owners are faced with astronomical assessments...the bottom has fallen out in their values as folks are fleeing...
I am liking the story as well, somehow while reading about the Champaine on deck, I had visions of a @Lee Wilson story where they fall overboard onto a boatload of scurvy, rum-soaked pirates..
Seriously tho, I'm hoping the empty bottle landed in a trash can..
