It would seem our intrepid detective just might/may have an admirer in the FBI....

The thoughts came unbidden, one after another, weighing heavy on Robby’s mind. He thought about the sacrifices his parents had made for him over the years—the late nights, the hard work, the endless encouragement to succeed. And now, all of it felt conditional, like it had come with invisible strings attached. Strings he had unknowingly severed the moment he told them the truth. “I’ve always tried to make them proud,” he whispered to himself, his voice barely audible. “But I was never enough.” I was the third and last of my siblings, my brother was the golden child who could do no wrong. His bipolar episodes ignored and overlooked, when they couldn't overlook, something else was always to blame. Dropping out of college, lost in the foggy haze of drugs was ignored. My sister bonked her way thru high school, how she never became pregnant might have had something to do with the good doctor who 'assisted' young ladies in the midnight hours as they avoided an unwanted pregnancy... Me, I was an honor roll student and the black sheep of the family, never good enough. I worked shoveling snow, mowing lawns, painting and a general dogsbody for the good doctor. With my earnings I bought my own clothes and necessities, did my darndest to avoid both of my siblings' requests for loans, having been burned before. Yet everything I did, including putting myself thru college was never good enough. When I turned 18, I realized my life was on my shoulders and would be what I wanted to make out of it...

Josel...is it any wonder you are not considered to be a full member of this group??? To me you remain a spoiled, tempestuous, callow shell of a young man who can't see the forest for the trees.... Josel thought about running after the man, but decided not to. Ragart, Zal and the others still treated him like a little child who didn't need to be told anything. A visit to Izaskar had not changed that. In return, Josel would tell them no more about his affairs than he had to. Likewise, his trust had to be earned, By not dispatching the one called Plink, one hopes that she is kept securely bound in chains she can't escape from, but my gut tells me Josel will somehow be involved in her escape to do more damage...

Marc is growing by leaps and bounds, it will be interesting to see what other refinements to his mining he will make. Again, Sasha sorta reminds me of the twins and how insecure they were and how he pushed them to see and realize their potential. Will we see this with Sasha?

They need to target some of the youth market as well, young environmentalists and generate some publicity, perhaps bring on magazines like National Geographic....

I am constantly amazed at how different folks react to different situations. Make no doubt about it, it very well could have been a reversed situation with the parents. However, in this case we see that success and living in a 'rarefied' atmosphere calcified, rather atrophied familial harmony. Yet, on the other hand we see a set of parents who would have every reason to complain bitterly about the inequities/struggles of life, understanding not everything is black or white. At great sacrifice to their personal condition, scrimped, saved, and found a way to afford the means to provide a college education, the full-boat scholarship non-withstanding, sent their son off to college with those funds to ensure his education would be his primary focus. Contrasted to parents who distastefully sent their son off as an embarrassment to be avoided amongst their peers and relations. Not for a moment regretting their decision, much akin to treating their son as a bad rash, hoping it will respond to the 'cure'... The best outcome is for Manny and Robbie to live their lives fully with the family they make, and someday the family they raise. To be successful in their careers and remember the most important dictum..."You can pick your nose...but not your relatives". Let go of what is beyond your control and live your lives as every day together is a blessing to be cherished.

A powerfully written editorial/opinion piece, hopefully the first in a series of the whole sordid story involving all of those who surrounded young Thomas. From his despicable father, the monster who was his uncle, to those who got their jollies abusing boys like Thomas, boys most likely thrown out of their homes or sold to their predators. To the fuckwad, rat faced scum sucking pissant a-hole and those 'Old Artefacts' who enjoyed the profits that their spoiled, rotten fruit of an underling places on their tables. And then to those who appeared more behind the scenes, fervently hoping to correct a gross miscarriage of justice. Proof that there are those who care...I, as noted before, firmly that Sam's efforts in telling this story will be a strong contender for a Pulitzer Prize for Journalism... The tension between gen 5 and gen 6 is palpable, is it due to an inferiority complex? Which begs the following question....Why aren't the previous generations 'disposed' of?

Perseverance should be the word of the day, as important as their studies are, their relationship is as important if not more important than everything else. The were smart to find time to carve out special moments, by letting off a bit of pressure they will find refocusing much easier!
