I can see into the future career changes as our hero's gravitate towards caring for abused children, there's much more to this story and one has to wonder just how deep the rot goes... He's become a loose cannon, endangering those he ostensively those he works for, he's about to bring heat and exposure to those who slither in the darkness....his impulsiveness is going to topple the house of cards the Old Artefacts live in.... Jason Rizzo was deep in thought as he drove. He knew he should cut his losses and focus on the intact schemes still producing cash, but he also knew he couldn’t. The man hadn’t worked his way up from nothing by allowing himself to be disrespected. Roger Cicero had disrespected him, and probably ratted out Joe and Sal. The lawyer was also helping Detective Ramos steal from him. Charlie’s entire operation belonged to Riz, including the boys. He couldn’t let either offense go unpunished. Killing them didn’t feel like enough. He wanted them to respect and fear him before he eventually took their lives. With Joe and Sal out of the picture, Riz was going to have to recruit or promote some new muscle. Flipping cops took patience and time, and the man didn't have either in any measurable quantity. Fortunately, Jason Rizzo knew plenty of people who were willing to do just about anything for money and the promise of power. Even the things that were currently running through his mind. mm

And a new adventure begins, fraught with unknown perils, time is of the essence as a desperate rear-guard action buys the time needed to make the move to the new lands successful...I remain concerned that the pestilence the Anberan's are/create may follow the Pactrid's. While the attrition sustained in this costly war against the Pactrid's one has to wonder if there is a tipping point in losses sustained. More to the point, once the 'Trids have relocated and the last remaining forests consumed, what then? Lastly, much has been made about Calum's sexuality, is it possible that intimacy along those lines will run its course in some form or fashion as they start their lives together?

It's a bold move, one that will take time to accomplish. My worst fear is that at some point the humans will make the same discovery about the sea, leading them to follow....
