    The Ball

Dickoless has found new lows….it seems that leading Richard on is a game with him. Whoremoans seem to have found Vicky, and Mom and her circle of drunken harpies are out of control , and I am beginning to think Richard, despite all of his social blindness, just may be the most rational of all… The doc orders many solitary hours with wrist exercises whilst in bed…that or save yourself for college…..

    Chapter 25

I still have to believe that knowing the pattern/cycle is changing in a manner it has never done before, that the end of this conundrum begins at the site of the ancient shrine/temple… I will admit the following gives me pause… Marco hesitated. Then quietly: "The last time you chose me freely..." A pause, "...you died before winter."

    Chapter 14

Oh my goodness, the Romans are sleeping, content with out understanding the immediate dangers. Their guard is down and abetted by Arminius whispering false information to Varus… Elders gather." Varus said it without looking up. "It's what elders do, in my experience, everywhere I've had the misfortune to govern them. Councils, squabbles, some dispute over grazing land or an insulted wife. Arminius, you've told me as much yourself, more than once." "I have." Arminius's voice was easy, unhurried, entirely unremarkable. "The usual autumn pattern. Nothing outside it." Also remarkable is way Marcus was accepted in the family home!

    Chapter 2

A rough beginning to find the killers of Patryk's family, destroying the farm. I'm wondering how big this tribe of goblins is. Is J'ck a wild card within the goblin community? From what Kamyk infers, he is less than a man, missing a finger, and a nasty individual...who wants to lead, take over the tribe...has he the strength to do so??? Just how many goblins are they up against, and with Radek's limited numbers, it won't be easy.... "Ambush," Radek said. "Hit and run. They knew the ground. They knew where we'd be." Kamyk nodded. "J'ck's hunters. They do this. They watch. They wait. They take one, maybe two. Then they go." "Why not take more?" Rob asked. Kamyk shrugged. "Why need more? One is enough. One feeds the tribe. One proves they are strong." He looked at the ridge. "J'ck is strong. He wants to be chief. He wants to prove he can lead. Killing shows the tribe he is worthy." Radek stared at him. "How do you know all this?" Kamyk's eyes flicked to Shem. Then back to Radek. "This one was there. Before they left this one behind. This one watched. This one listened."
  8. I'm confused, what's the story about again? Not sure if the soundtrack works .... With thanks to men in uniform everywhere...
  9. I'm sorry... what is the story about again????
  10. And this man is a pastor???? “You let that boy show you up again?” He says coldly, his eyes meeting mine in the rear view mirror. “What do you mean? We’re on the same team.” I say cautiously, I’m genuinely confused. We won. Why is he mad? “And every single one of his stats was better than yours.” He says tightly. “How can you be ok with letting trash like that be better than you?”

    Chapter 6

A masterful chapter, and noted above by @peter rietbergen, the implication or the inference in this case worked much better than the explicit. Well done!

    Chapter 24

I'm going to have to believe the answer is in the following... Whether that belonging arose from childhood, from the ancient shrine beneath the Tor, or from the man waiting somewhere beyond the harbour, he could no longer say. Travelling away had felt less like leaving than being torn from the roots. I have to believe the answer in some manner of fashion lies at the archaeological dig and the sight of the ancient shrine...that it ends at the beginning....

    Chapter 9

Not so much a cliffhanger of sorts, but a wait-and-see-hanger...not fair ending this as you have..
  16. So...Uncle Edwin's offer is to be considered, is he coming from a place of realistic thought or is he in so many words, chuntering?

    Chapter 28

@Summerabbacat, @Mark Ponyboy Peters, @Sunshine, and anyone else I inadvertently overlooked. What I know of Australia, I learned from my father, who was an aerial reconnaissance photographer for the Flying Tigers in WW2. Constantly fighting a rear-guard battle against the advancing Japanese, he was with the crew that flew him and came back to base one day to find there was only enough time to refuel and fly as far toward India and safety. He and the crew had to crash-land far short of their goal. They walked with the assistance of Chinese guides to safety. They took him along trails where there were stone markers that, when paper was rubbed against them, showed the paths that they could take. When they finally reached the closest British base in India, Dad weighed some 94 pounds, and like the rest of his crew, had contracted multiple diseases and infections. After some time in India, he and his crew were shipped to Australia to recover before being shipped home. Of all the hardships they faced, the one constant was the welcome they faced when arriving in the land down under. Dad could never say enough about how they were treated, accepted, and made to feel like they were 'Home"! I have in his papers, photographs, documents, and a money tree of taped-together currency, both Chinese and Australian, signed by everyone who made it. At some point before it is too late, I will travel to the WW2 museum in Washington, DC, to donate those items. What I will have a difficult time parting with is the Chinese coin and the silks he brought back. The coin measures nearly four inches across and has the typical square hole in the center. On the front are four Chinese characters, entitling the possessor of the coin to claim the "services" depicted on the other side. There is a missionary, a doggy style, standing, and one I'm not sure of, if it were even possible positions, I think oral. Luck was the owner of that coin, to be able to procure an evening or more of entertainment. On the other hand, the coin may have been a novelty; who knows?

I believe that this story takes place in a parallel universe where the Rolls SUV does exist, and the rear seats DO fold down... That's my story, and I am sticking to it!!!

    Chapter 9

Amazon should have it, and not wanting to toss some bland potato salad away, I put a couple of spoonfuls of piccalilli, Howard’s Green Tomato of course, in the potato salad and it was a miracle I tell ya! And everything west of Interstate 495 is like a trip into the twilight zone….

    Chapter 28

Late to the party and all of the comments above pretty much sums it up…. Redemption can be a long, difficult road, and Levi is beginning to see a path forward….Casey, that little bastard, isn’t finished or done with Levi, and one hopes when that situation arises, if it does, that Levi is able to turn the tables on him, and watch him try to squirm out of trouble.

    Chapter 9

Here in tranquil and placid New England, packy is a liquor/beer store. No offense was intended. As to the other word you mentioned I have not seen it. And when someone ask where the khakis are, it is the keys to the car…Frappe is a milkshake, one drinks watah out of the tap (kitchen faucet….Grinders are a submarine sandwich, and if you pak da kah in Harvard Yard, you may be spending time in the pokey, AKA da slammer… Memorize these and you won’t be taken for a tourist, for about 30 seconds….

    Chapter 23

I'm thinking Vale needs a smack with a bat upside the head with comments like the following... A chill ran through him. "You've seen this before." "Many times." Christopher lowered himself into the chair opposite. The room suddenly felt smaller. "You never told me." "You never asked whether geography mattered." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Christopher followed his gaze. "The Tor." "Yes." "The shrine." "Yes." Christopher stared through the glass. Neither spoke. Then understanding began assembling itself piece by piece. The excavation. The dreams. The visions. The memories.Everything had begun there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If Christopher moves away, where is the proof the memories will cease??? Vale's answer to the following was of no help either; it is a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.... It means every time one of your lives settled far from here, the memories returned more slowly." A chill ran through him. "You've seen this before." "Many times." "You think this place is causing it." "I think this place is where it began." Christopher looked back at him. "And if I left?"
