What's the old adage...When in Rome.....

At the least the entrances and grounds...for a house that expensive I am positive insurance would require it....I shudder to think what the premium would be otherwise...not that Sam couldn't afford it but....

Communication is a skill that comes from experiences....sadily not only teens suffer from a lack of skill, but so do many adults... The following is very interesting as well as the references to a shared past with the earliest beginnings of Christianity...hummm, could have the bigots back then distorted the simple faith of "love one another"??? Paul Crawford, Winston, and Amelia's dad described the unusual depictions on the frescoes. "The frescoes on the back wall are stylistically older than the rest of the Mithraeum. They're probably fifty years older." Pointing to the central figure on the left side of the door, he began. "This is a depiction of Mithras, portrayed as a youth, wearing the Phrygian cap and holding the dagger and torch, but instead of a bull, another youth stands slightly behind him and at his side. We wouldn't be certain it was Mithras's if it weren't for the context." James' dad, Vincent, continued, "We've never seen Mithras depicted this way and never with a companion. It's a mystery." The plot thickens.... "Note the symbol on Mithras's cloak clasp," said Vincent. "It looks like a fish," said James. "You're right. It was called an ichthus at the time." "An ichthus?" "Vincent explained, "Yes, ichthus is the Greek word for fish. Early in their history, early Christians adopted the ichthus as a secret symbol. Note the youth accompanying Mithras. He displays another early Christian symbol, the cross, and anchor." "What does it mean?" asked Winston. "Historians have speculated on the link between the Cult of Mithras and Christianity for years. They both emerged at about the same time, and although we know little about the theology of the Cult of Mithras, there are similarities in imagery and the concept of sacrifice, death, and rebirth. This is the clearest indication yet that the religions had some relationship. We may never know who inspired who."

Then there is this conundrum...an expensive house with no costs spared on the functionality...suppose there's a top shelf security system...with video??? It beggars the imagination/incredulity if isn't so.....

it's bad enough that Micco breaks into the house, has the foresight to call 911 when he realizes someone else is in the house, think fingerprints on the phone, and then when confronted, is knocked out...really...what else could possibly happen??? One step backward brings me alongside the foyer table, and I reach behind a teak statue of Macuiltochtli to grab the wireless phone Sam keeps there, silently thanking him for keeping such an archaic detail in his modern palace. With a landline, I can summon help straight to the house without uttering a word. I slink through the shadows, duck behind a column that leads into the great room and press the green “call” button. It produces a dial tone that would wake the dead. Mouthing a curse, I muffle the handset against my stomach and creep further away before stabbing 911 into the receiver. It rings and connects immediately. Before the operator spits out, “What’s your emergency?” I stuff the handset between the cushions of one of the leather theater seats. And then the mother of all 'wait and see hangers'... Brought to you by...

And now folks, something completely different from our esteemed author...A true delight to read!!! It's got 5 stars despite the fact there's a...shushhh...a cat....

This summed it up neatly for me and a wonderful story, well written, brilliant plot devices and just a joy to read... I do have issues with the following tho.. If my cheeks could get any hotter, I’d bend the Pope over the nearest church pew. Being a few years north of retirement, this only happens to me when I find what I am looking for in Home Depot....

The constant refrain is "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"...never was the situation ever more so true...a thoroughly delightful visit to Sin City often called Lost Wages...Read on!!!!

A fantastic concept, clever, incredibly well written with chuckles interspersed throughout, while leaving one scratching their testicals, head, the upper one folks, I may have failed classes in deportment but I do have a modicum of class!!! https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Peliel&atb=v314-1&ia=web Then again, the story was bereft of Gnomes....ya know....

Sadly, once again the natively of the triplets show us what what our world could look like if only we could get past the petty BS... Very enjoyable and this needs a few more chapters!!!!

I picked up on it only as a matter of setting, not realizing the import...then the thought struck me after reading these comments...just where and how did the other treasures accumulate???? So true...

Like all the others...more please and thanks!!!

I think before the boys draw any closer and make suppositions, that TY should be asked what his feeling are...we know he leans strongly towards Seth, would he be willing or ready for multiple partners??? Lots of stuff still unresolved here...and where is Seth's father???

Let's call the end of the fight for what is was, self-preservation.... Finally, the ref-bot stopped the match. He took a bow when it declared him the winner and whipped out his kin card to make sure they transferred all his winnings to it. He was preoccupied with that and didn’t notice Coalic had recovered and was in the process of launching a massive energy ball at him. The overwhelming sensation of something staring at him coupled with an all-consuming sense of impending doom overcame him and he turned. The instant he saw Coalic, he reacted without thinking. His energy blast destroyed everything below her chest, and she fell. Dead.

Loved this chapter, Dr Hamlin and his guests should be very impressed. I think they learned what they and others would call, poor unfortunate souls, are anything but...All it takes is a bit of care, compassion, and most of all...love for those who need it!!! The following simply gets to me each time the children go fishing... “What are they singing?” “They are singing in Italian and telling the mermaids they are here.” “All the boys are singing.” “Yes and if you watch some of the private yacht owners and other fishermen, they are singing as well.” As we approached the boat, the captain was standing at the end of the boarding plank. The boys saluted and asked permission to board. As the boys boarded they found their seats. Charley and Charles along with their boys were already on board. I introduced Dr. Hamlin to the captain and first mate, and Colin showed them their seats. The captain blew the whistle and we were off. The boys kept signing, I told Dr. Hamlin they were now telling to the mermaids to put the fish on their line and they would give them a kiss.

While I wouldn't put if past the Other queen of the Korner Krew to change the timelines, but I believe Vann was with the foster parents before the poison crap went down I still have issues with Caleb for not involving his pack before the poison could truly have its terrible effects...

The best plans of battle rarely survive first contact with the enemy... A very powerful chapter and will the various factions rising up be able to coordinate? That Gustave needs to die isn't in doubt...can it be done now, will they get away with it and out of the city????

The only comment I could possibly make would be instutionalized.

Ok haters...here we go...my reward for moving is the Pat's/Raiders game in Lost Wages and 5, count them, 5 glorious days hiking in the Grand Canyon... Not sure I am fully convinced...Caleb, if I read this correctly still let others raise Vann, before he was poisoned!?!? Before Vann was kidnapped, were you having any odd physical symptoms? Rashes, headaches, itching? Anything?” Caleb thought, but nothing came to him. Then he remembered something. “I couldn’t get rid of this weird metallic taste in my mouth. Everything I ate tasted like copper. Even now, food has an odd flavor. I chalked it up to stress.” And as Asa notes...being poisoned was no excuse...need more Intel before I go running for the Caleb bandwagon... he's still a putz...notice that's a step or two up from the steaming pile of manure...
