It was nice seeing Harper again and learning a bit more about her feelings, looks like the downhill slide with Reggie is about to become an avalanche, or not...She has opened another door to her sexuality, let's see where it leads to... No doubt Carey has/is a twink magnet, seems like he just may spend his summer practicing the horizontal mambo!!

A thoroughly enjoyable, well written chapter!! Loved the pacing and the realism which is making for a great story...Now the need to learn and understand more about Mike... Loved the following... “Drop the knife!” He looked at the weapon in his hand, then at me. “Drop the knife now!” Two things happened at the same time. To me, such situations always seemed like a movie in slow motion. I saw his face change to angry, and he flung the knife at me. I pressed the trigger on my Taser. Although I knew it sounded stupid, I thought I saw the Taser needles leave my weapon and the cable-connected projectiles fly past the incoming knife that came straight towards me. I shifted my stance, while the Taser needles connected and the electrical jolt made the boy cramp up and fall to the ground. The knife had flown past me. I heard it clatter to the ground. The rest of the Taser discharge procedure had to be followed. “You’ve been hit by a Taser,” I explained calmly, “You’ll feel disoriented. Do not attempt to move or stand.”

Miles' true colors are coming rapidly to the fore...and he's proving to be quite the right prat... And mom is finding out her younger son has been quite successful and settling down quite nicely, along with being open minded and quite fair about all sorts of things!!

Looking forward to seeing just where all of this goes...great start!!!

Adam...needs a restraining order and a right cross to the jaw al la Barry, more proof neanderthals exist...WTF is his issue...what is done is done...much a control freak??? Zack...Good on you, you should report Adam or have him sent a notice that trespassers will be prosecuted...What stage is his stomach cancer... I wonder if the parking area has video coverage...humm...

Thank goodness I have learned to eat my supper before reading one of your chapters!!! I have to add coming to Cape Town to my bucket list!!! And from the mouth of babes... They weren't entirely happy however when they were woken up just after 7am by four exuberant children and an excitedly yapping hound, mainly in light of the fact that they were both still naked after their nocturnal antics. To make matters even more awkward, Jamie was too quick for either of them and dived under the covers, only to emerge seconds later with a look of utter disgust on his face and yell so loud, they were convinced the entire resort heard him. "Ew, daddy! You and dad have got no clothes on. And what is that funny smell?"

Well...I may be an anachronism here but...as to the following, as long as they are clean, I don't give a fig for style, brand, or whatnot...just what they are holding/concealing is my main concern... It hadn’t happened yet, partly through sheer luck but partly out of fear, though the fear of what he wasn’t sure. A clinch and a fumble in an alley were one thing, but in a bedroom, stripping off, these kecks were hardly sexy – plain grey, the same style he always wore, clean and serviceable. I find Sarah fascinating; she has a reservoir of untapped potential and believe she needs a firm soul to guide her. It almost seems that no one has ever said no to her machinations as we find out with Jeff. If not, her life could be FUBAR'ed...

I am intrigued @Summerabbacat by the fact that most, if not all, of the family business records have been "lost/misplaced/destroyed". It isn't however, a dead end for any researcher worth their salt. Sometimes hints or clues, or actual records can be found where least expected. Another avenue for research would be to go to the historical records of the UK Department of Defense/Procurement, if those records exist prior to/during, and after the war we might find actual contracts. The bad news was that virtually all the firm's records had disappeared, so that her information was coming mainly from newspapers, archives and such, though she emphasised that what she'd done so far was just a surface trawl and that proper research needed to be done. It may also be possible to see if the family firm was involved in any dodgy business by looking at the meticulous records of the Nazi regime. They kept records on everything down to the last bolt, washer, and nut as well as humans extinguished. This chapter and the notes for it reminded me of another "gold crisis"... As for the historical accounting trick Eli and Robert used to cover themselves and offer a Gold Cross to Mary as bait to steal the even more important blue orbs, I hope those with history background appreciate the trick. Every now and then a story comes along that touches the reader in so many ways, eliciting so many different reactions as noted in the comments. And boy did I comment in reaction to the various chapters they elicited from me. It is the hallmark every author strives for in the crafting of their work, to be able to reach their readers, and this story has it in spades. One of the finest authors to grace these pages, this story is a "can't miss"!!!

I have to ask then, what speaks to the sperm donor's motivation...I can't bring myself to use his name, he pisses me off so...There simply has to be a financial incentive...I find it difficult to see it as altruistic... He's working at Wendys for somewhere between $16 and $20 bucks an hour, most likely 30 hours a week or less, minimal benefits, scant health insurance ad nauseum...Can he demonstrate he can afford to support his progeny? More to the point, his legal team is taking a huge fricking risk in taking his case, clearly on his wages, they are way out of his league...is his current oinking partner funding all this?? What happened the nine years he was gone? Can he demonstrate a solid working history, the ability to have provided for his sons, show tax returns, a clean background, was the pokey at any time serving as his residence, or has he managed to escape incarceration? Not that I have any strong feelings.....
