Loved this chapter, so much packed into it. Much was said and much more was implied, and if Jubal ponders a mite more, he'll realize folks have his back and are concerned for his welfare. Will have to come back and reread the last few chapters as I am just back from a short vacation, to watch my favorite team choke once again...At least the beer was superb, what little I had...

This has been an ongoing issue with Devin's mother and it bothers me that the resentment lingers...could it be a larger issue later? “So, you’re able to do all of the same things that they do now?” she asked with a twinge of bitterness in her voice as she pointed at her son and husband.

And Micco, share the frigging texts with Burke and we have even more red herrings to sift thru It was Danny,” I blurt. “I’m sure of it.” “Danny?” Burke tilts his head, not unlike a wolf. “Danny Parks? Sam’s friend?” “He hates me, Matthew. He’s been stalking me. Throwing accusations around. This morning he sent me some threatening texts.” That gets Burke’s attention. “What kind of threats?” “Never mind.” I regret the outburst immediately. The last thing I want to do is share tangible evidence of anything, bullshit or otherwise.

God, grant me the serenity to Accept the things I cannot change Change the things I can And the wisdom to know the difference Not sure how I missed this powerful chapter, but now I miss the cliffhanger…

Boots should get 2 ribeyes a day! Thank goodness Corbin and Boots are ok… Ok all you haters, the Jury is still out…. Asa wasn’t sure how everyone else slept, but he and Caleb tossed and turned all night, and yet, they were ready at five a.m. to catch the flight Sebastian had arranged for them. Asa frowned as they drove away from the house. Last night had escalated so fast they didn’t get to give a proper goodbye to everyone, but it couldn’t be helped. Poor Caleb. He knew his mate regretted leaving things with Vann unresolved. His anguish was palpable through their bond. Asa felt it in a way that was similar to a fine-tuned instrument hitting a wrong note.

And yet scum like Calvin seem to thrive on the misery they inflict on others…all we can hope for is that he shows his true self in the courtroom… There has to be some monetary gain for Calvin to push the envelope so far in this case…
