  1. Becoming a vampire is nothing like they tell you in those books. Frankly, it sucks. Especially when you're a failure, your master rejects you and you want nothing more than to fade away from your miserable existence, even if it's Christmas Eve.
  2. That's not fair! I have a mile-long to do list and I like both prompts.
  3. According to the German law on purity dating from 1516, beer consists only of barley, malt, water, hops, and yeast. No brains, sorry Z.
  4. There's always New Year. Maybe with fireworks????
  5. Congratulations! A real beauty. Look into her eyes, she is already planning to redecorate... something.
  6. It might be impossible to fathom for some, but you don't feed the world with meat, but rice, corn etc. To make it simple: Plants. Meat is a luxury many people/countries can't afford, e.g. a country like India has a meat consumption of ~5 kg per person per year.( Source: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), FAOSTAT on-line statistical service (FAO, Rome, 2004). Available online at: http://apps.fao.org) We could actually feed the world with game and animals grown on farms, where the animals eat what they would normally eat if they were outside. The world just had to eat less, or none at all.
  7. If someone can't live without meat for one meal I cook it, they'll have to taste it, though. Ah Sasha there is always cake, and I drink tea beside flavored coffee, I'm very low-maintenance. (at least with my eating habits)
  8. Nothing against telling kids the truth, if it is needed. I'm all for it and I do it myself in class. However I usually tell them the same in and out of the classroom. I call it animal when it's alive and meat when it's dead and gutted as you put it. My kids understand that perfectly well. By the way I don't judge carnivores for their eating habit, it's their decision, as it's mine not eating meat. Sadly the not-judging is often a one-sided thing.
  9. That's it: animals become meat, animals aren't meat, that's plain wrong and disrespectful. I am well aware that you merge the boundaries, I wouldn't call this unbiased though.
  10. I did eat meat and now I don't. And it's: Would you rather kill all the animals you'll ever eat for the rest of your life, or be a vegetarian forever. Meat is already dead.
  11. I have a PS4.
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. Again? I would probably feel bad...
  14. I can't find an appropriate ending. Gah!

Thank you Sly! I'm glad you loved it. Some time I should probably try the HEA, or at least the HFN, huh?

    Burnt Dreams

Thank you Bill! I'm glad you liked the story. Yes, that's the advantage of an open ending, we can make our own. I like your version.

    Burnt Dreams

I felt a little bad to end it like this, but only a little. I always try to imagine how my characters feel, how the would react. I'm glad it worked out. Thank you for the really nice comment.
  21. I was so sure I smelled vomit. Eww... Very good story Sasha, nicely paced, I liked Blake from moment one. Why is it again that everyone but us can see what an a$$ the man we fell in love with, is ?

    Story

A very sad story. I guessed it would end like this but somehow I had still hope they would find a better way to end this, but it was not meant to be. A good story, it will stay in my mind, but I won't read it again.

    Half Jack

A well written story, as always Thorn. In theory gender identity shouldn't be an issue, it's the people who count. We got a glimpse at some of the problems it can involve until you know who you are. IMO it ran a little too smooth between Sam and Nathan, but on the other side... Why not? Wouldn't it be wonderful if it would work out like it did?

I don't know why you guys write so epically pictorially about stressful dinner parties, you're making me really nervous here. Good story Cole, I want the recipe for the vegetarian cassoulet btw.
