    September 2050

A parched German countryside and climate change making much of Southern Europe unlivable is very close to reality, the political changes you described unfortunately too. You packed all this into an action-filled setting. I couldn't scroll fast enough to get to the ending.

    Story

To be honest, I was afraid it might be a little too sweet, not the cake -that is perfect- but then I thought the heck with it. I'm glad you liked it.

Then let's add five more candles. Thank you for your comment, Gary! (Did you notice the comma?)
  15. One Hundred Forty-Five Candles “Greetings listeners! Welcome to the 20th episode of my podcast Stirring the Pot. Today I have a real treat for you! Those who have been following me for a while, know around this time of the year I always drive around the countryside and visit all those tiny fairs on my continuous hunt for secret and not-so-secret family recipes. “Last week, I was on my way to a small village for the annual Yam & Ham Challenge, and I saw many arrow-shaped signs along
  16. What's better than one reason to celebrate? Two reasons. Victor and Peter will explain in an interview for the cooking blog Stirring the Pot why they decorated their cake with one hundred forty-five candles.

    Chapter 1

To be honest, I'm glad these times are behind me, mostly. You described the angst and jitters a little too good, although they were kinda lucky and it looks as if there is a chance for more if they manage to stay in contact.
  20. I didn't read every story yet as I'm busy preparing for another September anniversary.
  21. Their conversation has been a mere thought experiment, yet, but very alarming.

    Promises to Keep

Your story held up the proverbial mirror to humanity. It had to be sad, we had to feel the loss to have an impact, well done.

    Chapter 1

First, I chose 'Love' because the lyrical self persevered. With every stanza shackles have been shed, freedom came closer for body, mind and soul. You found perfect words to describe a rough road. I myself feel a little raw and shaken after reading this. Thank you for sharing, Gary. ~Adi
