  1. Jake met up with the Boswell brothers, Kevin and Thomas, at the old MacBriar house. The house had been deserted for nearly twenty years, but the three of them had turned it into a kind of secret clubhouse when Jake and Kevin were ten. They would have done it when they were younger, but it took them until the age of ten to get over the ridiculous idea that the place was haunted; yeah, kids are dumb like that. They figured that if they hadn’t been caught in there in nearly three years of using
  2. Three boys have turned the old MacBriar house into a clubhouse, and they spend Hallowe'en night. The house is not as deserted as it appears. This story is based on the third 2006 anthology theme "Hallowe'en".
  3. I read this one when the anthology was posted and really liked it. Actually this is the only one of Sara's stories I've read. Don't know why I haven't read more. Must correct that.

    So cold

Glad you and the family are having fun. We've had a couple days of snow, but nothing special (about an inch or so in London) - though last night dropped down to about 15F.
  5. Happy birthday Kim Have a blast

    Chapter 1

Thanks for the review. I'm glad you liked the story. The ending was a twist that nobody seemed to expect.
  8. Happy birthday Ricky. Have a great day
  9. Don't let the arseholes and the haters get you down I love all of your stories, but my fav has always been A Class by Himself. I'm just glad that there are quality writers like you out there who are willing to put so much effort into providing so many free stories for the gay community. I can live with how ever often you post a new chapter or chapters. I'd much rather continue to read the same quality of story I've loved over the years, than some half-assed effort being churned out daily just to keep a few whiners happy. These trolls need to learn that no author owes them anything. Much love and respect Andy
  10. Another great tip Libby. This is actually something where I found that having a beta reader really does help. I can get so wrapped up in a story I'm writing, and because I already know what's going to happen four or five chapters later, I sometimes forget that readers don't. There was one lengthy (and crucial) scene I'd written, where it turned out I'd managed to convey nothing but dialogue from one of the characters. Keep 'em coming

    Chapter 1

Thanks for reviewing Rob. The whole situation can be almost as hard on the hospital staff, as the families; particularly where we get to know the kids really well. There are two kids on my cancer ward waiting on liver transplants, but thankfully their parents have matched for a living donor transplant. We've thankfully never had to face something like this, but I dread the day when we have to.

    Chapter 1

Sorry KC, only just found your review - I didn't get a notification. Thanks for reading. I actually ended the story where I did, because it would start getting into some very grey and very contentious areas; both medically and legally.
  13. Best hosted: Comicality's A Class by Himself Comicality's GFD Book 12 (I'm guessing we can't include Dan's Rich boy:Awakening) Best anthology: Carringtonrj's Should I Sara's No Strings
  14. Dear Mr W-L, After a group of rebels blew up my last Death Star, and that idiot Vader threw me down a power core, I am looking for gainful employment. I have experience with both Death Stars and blowing up planets, but please note that I refuse to work with Ewoks. Sincerely yours, Darth Sidious (Dantius Palpatine)
  15. Aww, bless
  16. Yay I almost thought Derrick was going to tell Joel, but you keep me waiting to find out just how good a friend he really is. Keep up the great writing.
  17. Well as anyone who read my blog knows my week has sucked. But at long last, something has happened to brighten my week. The Great One has finally posted a chapter of A Class By Himself
  18. Happy birthday Cassie. Have a great day.
  19. I've tried mint Baileys before and I'm not a fan of it, but then I don't really like mint. I do like the coffee flavoured one though.
  20. Thanks guys I think we'll get through this without bloodshed, but I'm just not sure about a lot of hurt feelings. In a lot of ways I'm glad that my Brett never got overly close with my entire family, at least he's been able to keep a more objective stance on this, so I can talk to him without it ending up in a blazing row. I was actually planning on asking Mr Branson if he can bring forward his first space shuttle launch and drop me off on the moon I've had to laugh about this as well, or I'd probably go insane. Or I could just show them a few choice photos of me and Brett Oh for the quiet life
  21. I'm a big reader; love 19th century stuff - Dickens, Verne, Twain (no romance stuff though, unless it's strictly M/M ) I also bake a lot; have done since I was about six or seven. I always used to make Mum and me fresh scones every morning for breakfast - none of that Frosties, Coco Pops, Sugar Puffs rubbish.
  22. Apparently an old Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times"; well I now in very interesting times thank you very much. My cousin (Nancy) and her boyfriend (David) split towards the end of November, and a few weeks back I found out that David is now going out with another cousin of mine (Sarah). A very bizarre quirk of fate, as neither of my cousins even knew each other until this happened; Nancy is a cousin on my Mum's side and Sarah is a cousin on my Dad's side. My Mum's family and Dad's family have never really gotten along owing to a huge amount of shit that happened when I was still in diapers, and the whole thing makes the War of Independence look like a lovers spat. It would take dozens of blog entries to go into it all (and I really can't afford the therapy that would go with it); suffice to say, that with two or three exceptions amongst the eldest of them, none of my nine maternal cousins (and their seven kids) know any of my eleven paternal cousins (and their fourteen kids). Even those few of my cousins who did know each other haven't seen each other in over thirty years, so probably wouldn't recognise each other anyway. When my Mum and Dad are in the same room the explosions are like Guy Fawkes, July 4th and Chinese New Year all rolled into one; I can't even remember the last time they managed to have a civilised conversation that didn't involve lawyers acting as go-betweens. Anyway, now I'm the shit for one reason and one reason alone. Since Nancy and David were together for nearly three years, I actually got quite friendly with him (not like that! Please drag your mind out of the gutter), and most of my maternal cousins are also on friendly terms with him and so we all stayed in touch with him (since the split was very amicable with no animosity felt on either side). Now I'm being accused by most of the family as having set up the new couple to try and bring my cousins from both sides of the family closer together in a misguided attempt to try and heal a few old wounds. Believe me, even I'm not that stupid! That is a major can of worms that even Oprah Winfrey, Jerry Springer, Ricky Lake, and the entire armed forces of the UN all combined wouldn't be able to handle! Nobody in the family is buying that this was just one of those little curve balls that God likes to throw to stop us all from getting bored; most of my aunts and uncles (on both sides of the family) feel I should have said something to someone to stop this situation from arising. Today (well technically yesterday as it's now nearly 1AM here), to really compound the issue, and royally piss everyone off, both Nancy and Sarah announced that they are pregnant (Nancy about four and half months along, and Sarah about six weeks); no prizes for correctly guessing who the father of both children is, and definitely no prizes for correctly guessing whose fault this latest development is.

    Chapter 2

So far I'm liking it. There were snippets in JK's books about Petunia's 'nicer' side, but I'm not sure how I feel about it being so overt. I also like the slow build up of Harry and Draco's friendship.

    Prompt #199

“Here we go again,” Marcus said. “What do you mean by that?” Peter asked. “You! You look as though you’ve just been kicked square in the arse by the love bug.” “So what if I have. I mean look at her; she’s gorgeous.” “You don’t have to tell me; I’m gay, I’m not blind. I know she’s gorgeous, but so were Marcia, Stephanie, Karla-” “Just what are you trying to say?” “I’m saying, that you my friend, is what is colloquially known as a skirt junkie. All that it takes is a cute butt and smile
