We sat in silence before the dawn As I held Timothy in my arms There I sat there all forlorn Failed to shield him from all the world’s harms This dreaded day finally arrived We knew it was coming Love forever survived Not enough, as I felt him succumbing We’d been together for many years He was me and I was him Now facing my deepest of fears The Grim Reaper’s here to claim my sweet Tim Kissed him my final farewell With our families alongside No longer to face our living He
  3. For the creative writing course I'm taking, I recently had to submit two poems as part of my mandatory coursework. I've had some nice feedback from my class lecturer, so I figured I'd share them.
  4. Oh well, back to the old drawing board
  5. Congrats to Jonathan Marray the first Brit to win the men's doubles in 76 years. Dare we take as a good omen?

    Prompt #151

I'm so sorry to end your day badly The problem was the prompt asked for it, wasn't my doing, honest Though thanks for the feedback on the story. I've come across a few children with GID through work, and although I don't claim to fully understand it or what they are going through, they are human; just like the rest of us. If we treat them different or badly for being who they are, then what right do we have to complain if people treat us badly because we are different.
  8. Andy Murray will actually be looking to be the first British male to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry. We have had numerous British winners at Wimbledon since then, just not in the men's singles. Virginia Wade won the ladies singles in 1977, Jeremy Bates and Jo Durie won the mixed doubles in 1987, Laura Robson won the girl's singles in 2008, Annabel Croft won the girl's singles in 1984, Ann Jones won both the ladies singles and was mixed doubles champion (with Australian Fred Stolle) in 1969 just to name a few. We are not quite as crap at Wimbledon as people think Just we only seem to be produce female winners
  9. I’d been thinking about her a lot lately. That long auburn hair that came half way down her back, that cute little button nose and those amazing amber eyes that gave her an almost otherworldly appearance. Her name was Josephine Baxter and she was my very first crush way back when I was eleven years old; she was in the same class as me but was only ten years old as she had skipped a year. I had been bitten by the love bug big time. I’d stare at her from across the classroom and my heart would
  10. OMG!! OMG!! **does his happy dance** **kicks his BF out the house, cancels social diary and snuggles down with large glass of wine**
  11. Welcome from the shadows podga and a belated welcome back to tomon **note to self, check thread more often** Welcome to any other new peeps who haven't yet posted here. Hope you all enjoy
  12. Agreed NotNoNever. I've seen a few stories stop halfway through as the writer realises they have painted themselves into a corner, and having no idea how to proceed they just give up on it and disappear.
  13. I found this very insightful. I think this is one of Wayne's and the '69' is just misprint **wonders if Trebs has had one sherry too many**
  14. I still miss Windows 3.1
  15. Yeah, part of it has a Shangri-La hotel. The area it's built in isn't the most affluent area of London either.
  16. Sorry to disagree with you Zombie, but the thing is an eyesore, and it's not even as though they had the sense to build it near the other skyscrapers such as the Gherkin.. It wouldn't look out of place somewhere like New York City surrounded by skyscrapers, but here in London it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.
  17. Happy birthday. Have a great day.
  18. Happy 4th of July everyone. Whatever you are doing today or this evening have a fun day, have a great time, and be safe.
  19. **has to stop following this thread, is getting too worked up**
  20. I will graciously allow somebody else to write next week's review
  21. Happy Birthday Canada. I kinda don't mind ya. Who am I kidding . . . love you all
  22. I'd love to see how these religious nuts would react to one of my friends. He is 6 foot 8 and makes Jean Claude van Damme look like a girl guide. His favourite t-shirt say "I'm gay. You got a problem with me?" I'm thinking of sending him to speak at the next Focus on the Family fundraiser

    Today, June 30th 2012

I think we've all had the occasional wierdo come on to us. I was 17 and in Blackpool for the weekend when some guy who must have been 40 started making some very lewd and unwelcome suggestions. It is really freaky and upsetting when it happens. At least your boss was there to help sort things out. Hope you are all right now
  24. I regularly use trains in Europe and they are excellent. DeutscheBahn in Germany are probably the best train operators in Europe (with Switzerland's SBB second, and they have no high speed services I'm aware of). DB run trains all over Germany and into neighbouring countries, and they also run a large number of the trans-Europe night trains. DB made €1.3bn profit and yet their fares are extremely reasonable. You can currently travel from Cologne, Germany to London, UK for €49 one way (and apparently once the direct services start running in a few years the fare will be even cheaper). I have travelled first class on the ICE train (recently spent 10 hours travelling from Cologne to Vienna) and it was like using a major airline. I was served food and drinks at my seat (just had to ring for the attendant), I had a large comfy reclining leather seat, I was offered numerous international newspapers, and was very impressed with the level of English their staff have (I speak a smattering of German, but certainly not enough to carry on a conversation).
