    Chapter 6

I loved it. From the medieval japanese settings to the ultramodern cyborg universe to family honour to revenge to sacrifice, I loved every bit of it. I got a little confused during the shouting match between Sato and Mori Sama, with Dee interjecting in all that. Otherwise good. I especially liked the plight and frustration of D on being denied the access to his soulmate who could be dying any moment, by the obnoxious hospital authority. That bitter experience is familiar to so many of us. I hope soon we LGBT will be able to look at that as a thing in the past. Equality worldwide will become a reality... Oh! And from one anime geek to another, you totally nailed the visual side of things. I will hope to see more of D and H in an up and coming novella, progressing from one heart to one soul, all the while trying to rekindle the old flame.
  2. doing the happy dance. Can't wait.
  3. GA is about this warm fuzzy feeling inside that you get, when you drink a cup of hot cocoa with mershmellow that your mamma made for especially you, while sitting beside a roaring fire in cold blizzerdy night, reading Hans Anderson's Fairytales. GA is home.

    Royal Rewards

A richly carved wooden goblet with gold and silver trimmings, containing the finest oak matured mead with all its heveanly aroma, is what this story reminds me of. I would have asked you to make this into a novel; but, I won't. Let it be as it is. A moonlite diamond spark. Thank you for sharing such a marvelous scenic composition.

and this is the silver lining I was talking about. The story is beautiful. Thank you for sharing such a private piece of memory with us all. Hugs and chocolates.
  13. I so agree with Sid here. Cailen is a good author, and a humble one too, as it shows. I read Raven and I liked it. And SOWK is progressing sweetly. It is amazing that GA family includes so many talanted authors and poets at one place. And it is greatthat through blog posts like these, we readers get a glimpse of our favourites' lives. Thank you Comic for this good interview.

    Social Grace

True, but having been brought up in a traditional Indian home, I have felt rather suffocated and lifeless at times, due to excessive 'social grace'. Any asian will sympathize with me. Unlike the western society, we are still big on those things, albeit in our own way. I think, it should be more about spontaneity and eloquence, as well as compassion towards fellow human beings, rather than just some rigid stances and phrases followed for the sake of courtesy.
  18. DSM-IV-TR is indeed the bible, although I don't understand what you mean by mis-interpretation. The diagnostic criterias are pretty clear there. But, as you say, if some physician seems to overlook it, he must do it on his on peril. Mis-diagnosis mostly ends with law-suits. And it is especially true with psychiatric one's. Anti depressants are not a cure-all for misery. They sometimes help a person to cope with his troubles. That is all there to it. They are the most prescribed medicine currently in the US. Some of it is bound to be drug abuses. But for most, it must be working. Otherwise, we would have seen an escalation of adverse effects, hence caused in the population. I am not saying, you are wrong in your approach. But, before reaching an inference try to see the bigger picture. And may be the 'untrained eyes' will see better. I sincerely hope I know what I am talking about. Afterall, I don't wanna end up like the physicians you mentioned.
  19. No physician receives his degree without a basic knowledge of a common psychiatric disorder like Depression and also it's relevent pharmacopoeia. It is managed in a primary care settings for that matter. However, serious or otherwise, cases are mostly refered to psychiatric evaluation according to the current guidelines. I am not saying, all of the physician community is blameless in this, but most are. Regarding the fact that we don't know all of the brain; well! We know enough thanks to the monumental leaps in molecular biology, imaging and other advancement in medicine. There is still a long way to go, but we are not really as clueless and fumbling as you portrayed. If a psychiatrist was needed to make a diagnosis of depression everytime, we will soon have a commotion outside each psychiatrist's office. Proper evaluation at a primary care level as opposed to specialist care level is the goal we are striving for. This will result in reduction in healthcare costs with more concentrated care for the serious cases. Equitable delivery will be ensured.
  20. So, first of all BDZ are not the mainstay of therapy for Depression(MDD). They belong to the group known as Sedative-Hypnotics and are used only for short term (less than 4 weeks) basis during initiation of therapy. And they do carry a significant risk of suicidal ideation, but only when used long term (more than 6 months) as in the case of anxiety disorders. But, Fluoxetine (Prozac) on the other hand has a higher risk, therefore contraindicated in teenagers and elderly (above 65) and can only be given in the morning. As I told you, the recent drugs like Sertraline, which is commonly used these days, do not have this adverse effect. In any case, we are talking about suicidal ideation not homicidal intent, which is a prominent feature of chronic marijuana abuse amongst well known drugs. So, in no cases could the prescribed anti depressants have caused the killing spree as you mentioned thus irrelevant in court. Nextly, you said something about legitimate studies. Well, while I share your emotion I do not partake your attitude. Lab studies only after detailed studies provides licence to a drug. FDA is notorious for it's rejection. And some drugs have indeed got past it's radar, but, for most it is doing alright.
  21. Forgive me, but, I am somewhat weary of your long Blog and your lengthy reply. So, I am gonna keep it short. And I will expect a short-to-the-point answer. Your perspective on the situation is correct. I do agree to the information overload theory. But, I hope you will agree that, we have all heard that somewhere or the other and therefore lacks originality. Your observations regarding the coming war are astute. I congratulate you on both regards. Having said that, let me move to my question. Exactly where did you find that, practicing doctors are unable to understand the mechanism of action of anti-depressants? And also if you could mention that, where exactly did you find homicidal intent as an adverse effect of anti-depressants? Please define the source. I hope you are not confusing suicidal intent with this, which is a well-known A/E of Fluoxetine, commonly marketed as Prozac. The more advanced SSRIs do not have this A/E. Lastly, taking antidepressants itself is not a proof of clinical insanity in a court, therefore exempt from McNaughten's Rule (except in a case of acute intoxication, which is definitely not the case here); because, these drugs are prescribed for myriads of indications, some of which may be trivial, while others quite serious. However, suggesting a trained physician prescribing one without proper knowledge of any drugs' detailed pharmacology, is in itself a very serious accusation. This is equivalent to criminal negligence on the physician's part, liable to punishment. So, please think before you write.
  22. OMG! What a bitch! Can't your husband see what she is doing to her own and your family? He should stop running errands for her pronto. This is too much! And I just read what you said here! Gosh! I think, by continuously giving in to her, your husband is doing more harm than help. It's high time he puts things straight, if he really loves her. She is in need of a serious psychiatric evaluation. Besides, her demands are just gonna go escalating. It is a typical presentation. And I don't just mean financially. It is more about attention seeking. Try to find what makes her so needy all of a sudden and why can't she depend on her husband on such trivial stuff. It is most likely to be associated with drug withdrawl and infidelity issues. Since you also mentioned children, I am especially concerned about their wellbeing and upbringing with such a personality as mother. Please take care. Don't let her destroy your life. And try not to be confrontational, when you explain this to your husband. He needs to understand this. Although he will not be of much help to her family, still he will be able to save his own. I don't know everything. But, I hope things will turn out better.
  23. praying for a speedy recovery here.
  24. things like this makes my day. May Lord bless you and the lucky couple. Have fun at the wedding.
  25. ofcourse, you are in our prayer. Stay strong. And please don't ignore your own health. Two sick people is worse than one, especially if one supports the other. I totally agree with you regarding the nurses. I think, they never recieve their due respect. Without the nurses a doctor is handicapped. They are just as integral to the healthcare as any other.
