I’m stuck on Susan. Just because it’s the only store around doesn’t give her the right to hold customers hostage. She could’ve checked that lady out and kept gossiping while she rang Charlie up. And she’s probably petty af as well — liable to go on break when Charlie gets to the register. Ugh. This would be my luck. I’m already planning his speech: “Susan? Girl? I’m here to stay. So you can not like me all you want to, but as you so aptly pointed out, this is the only game in town. I’m gonna keep coming here. Let’s call it an effing draw and get on with it. Life is too short to hold grudges.”

Right?! I half-expected Lexus to propose on the spot. What’s the time frame here? Right after Avi, Morgan and Sabine graduated? I was disappointed at how quickly and vaguely the kidnapping incident was wrapped up. A lot of money and planning went into that, and I’m surprised 1) Ashur gave everything up and 2) the culprits were caught so quickly.

Hell no, she is NOT sleeping in the same bed! They aren't kids anymore. Lex should’ve instituted boundaries and told her to go back to the guest room. She’s teetering on the line of rudeness, and lucky these new people are indulging her. Does she work from home and never get out?? Damn.

Is the secretary His Excellecy? And why are some of the Serai helping the Order? And what will they do with the blood, try to make themselves into the beings they hate? It’s confusing. I’m with Timothy — Sho and Nico may never forgive themselves for not getting there faster. Eff Landyn and the rest, man. The Serai guards are always a step or two too slow. Damn near useless.

They’re fictional, but I love them and wish the best for them, and real couples like them. Love is SO hard to find. You have to grab on with both hands and savor it.

I enjoyed this story! I really like how you stayed true to one of the top Mafia rules: you can never get out. If you ever wanted to return to these characters, you left yourself with fabulous creative soil for a drama. Paul was surprisingly (to me) affable about Corbin getting involved in the crime world again. But how long would that last? And Chad is no dummy. And eventually Corbin will have to make an unsavory choice, maybe to show his territory isn’t vulnerable. And what is Corbin going to do with his house? Oh! He could give it to Jenoah and Bruce! I love that Zampa comes home to her daddies. A pet door for a lynx tickles me to no end.
