    Disintegration

There was a recent study about ethics and empathy in children. It turned out that children of parents who said they were not religious had a higher standard of kindness and morals than children of parents who identified as Christians or Moslems. (The number of parents with other religions were too small to give statistically significant results.) The really interesting result was that the religious parents were convinced their children were 'better' in this respect than the subsequent tests revealed. The researchers speculated that the reason was that religious parents assumed having faith was enough to ensure morality, whereas the non-religious parents made efforts to teach their children to be nice.

    Chapter XXVIII

Hmm, so the family know and approve, and they're shacking each other brains out. Is that the end of the story, or is there more to come ? i still think they need to have a few conversations before they commit for life.
  3. I just saw this story about naturalist swimming on BBC. People and their bigoted suspicious minds.
  4. Loyal, but grumpy workers are the same all over the world, lol. I loved the idea of selling weather.

    Prologue

I can't help speculating about the potential bigotry Mason could face, what with his background and orientation. Is he prepared for racism as well as homophobia ? He might miss the dorms, but I'm glad he avoids the frats. The more I read about those, and especially hazing and drinking, the more disgusted I feel about that aspect of US college / university. Reading @Jwolf 's story The English Year made me rant about the alcohol culture, even though I liked other parts of the story (hope we get more eventually). Anyway, it's not going to be easy for Mason to find somewhere to live, so perhaps his parents should send him on holiday a few weeks early to check out Sydney and the campus. His father could go with him, perhaps, if they can afford it ?

    Disintegration

They forgot to decide which religion they're going to claim.
  7. I'm hoping for both at the same time. Perhaps Jimmy can tell him he'll give him another chance if he finds a good therapist to help him work through the issues ? But I think Jimmy is much too kind and forgiving to do this. And Drake should get help for his own sake and not just to gain Jimmy as a partner. I'm glad Drake told Jimmy how he feels. Even if the declaration comes too late and makes no difference, at least he's given it a chance. Now he has to give Jimmy time to reconsider, and in the mean time Drake can work on his own fears and problems with trust. Jimmy for once stood up for himself and pointed out how Drake's reactions to Victoria can make or break their future.
  8. Your story is so scary I'm afraid to read more chapters. I can feel the catastrophes hovering. Anything from Jon getting hold of the gun to Jeff going crazy when he finds out about Simon and David.
  9. I read all four stories, and no. 3 was my favorite. I liked Reese who was clever and kind. Mr. Lee's other customers were sad guys, who didn't really think things through. The lawyer seemed OK, though.

    Double Birthday

I'm glad the story ended well, even if they fucked up.
  11. I like Reese. He' clever and kind.

    Mike

Well, at least they're both happy now.

    Chapter 1

My most burning question: did he go back in time as well as take over the body of someone who would have died otherwise ? There's a huge difference, but either scenario will be interesting. However, the risk of him fucking up history and timelines would probably be too great, so I'm going to assume he shifted sideways and location-wise. Somewhere far away from the widow and his kids, who will hopefully find him having died in his sleep.

    Chapter 26

Damn, it's too early in the morning for my brain to work. I mixed up Carlton and Collingwood. I did feel a bit confused since there were Blues and Magpies as nicknames, but I didn't make the correct conclusion.

    Chapter 26

Look what I found when re-reading the first chapter of book 2: I admit it was idle speculation at the time, but I'm still proud of having predicted this outcome.

    Chapter 15

Btw was that Jim and Tony's second 'official' kiss (after the one under the tree) ? I also loved the scene where they told Keith. He deserved the scoop for all Pride FM Radio did to help before and especially after the announcement. Is this a real radio station in Melbourne ? I think all your readers were holding their breaths over Ty's reaction and behavior. Peter did an excellent job of helping the confused brat, and so did Tony. But I'll also credit Ty for using his brains as well as his heart.

    Chapter 15

This chapter was full of great scenes, and one of my favorites was Matt turning up with the donations. He's a great guy, and so is Greg. I'm glad we get to see more of them in the sequel.

    All at sea

All Greek to me is one of my favorite idioms and you did a great job with it.
  19. Thank God that party is over, and hopefully nothing else happened, but what Robbie can remember. Now he just has to get through his birthday and the trip, before life can return to something vaguely normal. Robbie needs routine and plenty of calm in order to get all his issues sorted. Nathan is sweet and I feel sorry for Alex but neither of them are helpful in relation to those needs.

    Prologue

So Robbie didn't see José (or only with the mask on)? But surely his testimony about him being the guy is important too ? And I wasn't suggesting Mason should make a record, only that Robbie should do so, since he's not leaving the country and is just as likely to get killed. No reviews, only comments so far.

    Chapter 13

Sounds like you're aware the British delegation did not leave Denmark until the end of August. I've been checking the Danish history books and Count Christian Bernstorff. You're right. I can find records of the Sound being frozen in the winter of 1798-99 and 1800-01, with people using sleighs and horses between Denmark and Sweden. The 98-99 winter experience must have prompted the warning from Crown Prince Frederik to Granger. I'm glad to find out he was at least being honest rather than trying to trick Granger, even if he does also have other reasons to prefer the delegation to stay away from Russia.

    Chapter 13

Not that cold, but definitely wet and windy.

    Chapter 13

The northern part of the Baltic Sea (Botniske Bugt) and the inlet leading to Russia (Finske Bugt) do freeze every winter, but the southern and western parts of the Baltic Sea rarely freeze over, and the Sound and Belts hardly ever. But of course all Danes are still grumpy about the time (1657-58) when the Swedes walked over the ice in the Belts to attack København from the land side. I think Crown Prince Frederik is trying to trick/scare Granger, but it's true his ship would be caught by the ice if he's in Sct. Petersburg when winter arrives.

    Chapter 60

I'm guessing Dillon's father beat him up for being gay. Will should ask Stef to take Dillon shopping, and if he can't dig out the secret, they can meet JP for lunch and figure out how to help Will's new friend. I assume it will soon be time to update The List.

    Story

I'm so happy Australia's wait for marriage equality is over. (PS. you might want to check the formatting of the story, the text size is weird.)
