  1. Like a (reverse) Hans Christian Andersen tale. The innocent child rips the veil from their eyes and brings understanding. Oh and if you don't know which one I'm thinking of
  2. I hadn't noticed either. Another 500 posts and you'll be second on the Overall Top Posters list. Everyone else in top 10 joined GA before 2010, and most of them more than ten years ago. And guess what: the only one in top 15 joining after Gary is Drew.
  3. is this a fake tree ? :o how could you?
  4. Well now Mr Monk, will you take up the great task done by one of England's most famous writers, Mr. Charles Dickens, and expose the corrupt and evil system which exploits and harms poor people and especially children? Or will you refuse this indignant good woman and the duty of family? Are you a man of honor, Sir, or a craven coward? That is what we all want to know.

    Chapter 12

I'm not sure Lahja would have reacted better to the other answer to his question: that Kiorl wants to kiss him because he's falling in love with him. In fact I think he would have freaked out completely.
  6. LOL, droughtquake, I agree, Peter was quite rational. But he did have another Aditus characteristic in that he flew off to another continent to deal with his heartbreak. Not that I blame him, and in fact it was a great idea to visit NY and his friend King. I believe Tom when he says he didn't cheat physically, by having sex, but he did fall in love with someone else, so perhaps that's cheating emotionally? At least he was honest about it when he realized Peter had caught on. And it was a relief that they had both grown distant at the same time.
  7. We don't use them as a national symbol in these cases, that's why I called them celebration flags. They are simply decorative and festive, and no one would dream of thinking you nationalistic for having them.

    Chapter 25

I'm pleased that making the sensible choice of who to ask to be his boyfriend also made him happy.
  9. Since Denmark is one of the world's largest producers of (Nordmann fir) Christmas trees - which we call juletræer - only a real tree will do. and of course we decorate them with small Danish celebration flags http://satwcomic.com/christmas-traditions and http://satwcomic.com/flag-day-every-day

    Door#7 - Elixir

I kept expecting Tracy to tell her brother he was a ridicolous drama queen. She would have been right too, lol. I wonder if Wade will ever reveal the whole story. Maybe at their silver wedding anniversary.

    Door#6 - To Fly

I'm not going to guess, because I'm hopeless, but I loved the brief glimpse of a skating romance. Can it please be expanded to a novel?
  12. So, we go back to the beginning, where there is no Famous-Barr but only Barr and the new store they are going to inhabit. Interesting how the behavior of school girls and oogling boys have not changed in 100+ years.

    Chapter 9

I'm glad David embraced his future with Terry. It was OK for him to take his time, but I did chuckle a bit about Terry's dad trying to give him a small push and encouragement. The honey name was a perfect tribute to Jae.
  14. It was very clever of Duffy to ask Voin to show Reed around. It gave Voin another opportunity to think about the apartheid which not only existed in South Africa. That one little detail about seperate lunch rooms hit hard. Famous-Barr certainly spared no expense in their Christmas decorating and Toy Land. A street car !
  15. A nine foot Christmas tree, Wow ! And real coffee - that was something people in Denmark missed a lot during the war. I had to think twice to recall what the Jim Crow reference meant, I never heard of it before I came across it here. And thanks for writing about the sit down protests at Stix in the story topic. I think my favorite moment was Reed explaining how he made the star with his dad, such a precious memory.
  16. Thanks, Cajbor, I'm you like the story and took the time to tell me. It's nice to get these occasional comments and they also serve as a prod to get back to the story. Maybe over Christmas That line was a favorite of mine too, so it's awesome to have you put the spotlight on it.

    Talk

No wonder Jian is confused and heart-broken. He has told Emm he loves him, and Emm returned the words, albeit in bear language. They held hands on the way back, and Emm did not tell the girl in the supermarket that they were not boyfriends. I bet Jian thinks Emm doesn't want to have sex in his parents' home, and the non-tiger obviously doesn't have any hang-ups about shifter sex. He's like Hoyt that way. Yet he realizes Emm does not want this and stops, and then Emm runs away !!! Even if Jian shouldn't have tried to coerce his mate (but I bet he didn't know he was doing so, until too late), Emmett should still have stayed with him. They need to talk properly and honestly, before they hurt each other so badly there is no comng back from the damage.

    Moose

I don't blame Emm for stopping Jian's suggestive caress at the end. Sex is not the best way to start a relationship, because this was the way Zeke and Emm got together. On the other hand, it's rather sad when Jian tells Emm he can only get to kiss him when he's a bear. We want them to kiss and acknowledge their feelings - or at least the attraction. The denial in front of Emm's friends was not a surprise, but the fear and the need to distance himself was a nasty twist, even if he didn't let on (but Jian could probably smell those feelings). It was interesting how the situation made Emm so angry - I bet it was partly caused by Jian doing the 'rejection' of the idea. The worst part is that the longer this goes on, the more difficult it will be for Emm to give in. Nobody want to have their family and friends say "Well, finally, what took you so long." I think Emm will regret having kept with Zeke for so long, because he did not have time to work things out with Jian before they came north.

    Fantasy

I fell behind with my reviewing, sorry. Emm's family may be ahead of him in working out how he and Jian feel about each other, but they should probably not say it. Every time Emm denies that they are boyfriends (which is the truth) he is rejecting the possibility all over again. It will become a self-fulfilling statement, and he probably also hurts Jian. Let them be friends and work their way towards more at their own pace. On the other hand, Logan has a good point about not missing the chance of a life time. Jian may be patient and determined, but everyone has a limit. If they're not a couple by the time they return to Toronto, Jian will probably move on and nurse his broken heart on a sunny beach in Australia.
  20. Hi Blondie. Thanks for reading and for the prod. I ran out of inspiring first line prompt - and of inspiration in general, but since then several promising prompts have been posted, so I'll get back to this story at some point. But you'll have to be patient as I have two other Incomplete stories. Sorry

For a moment I thought the 'stake for dinner' was deliberate. I'm still enjoying the road trip.

    Chapter 12

Well, finally some help for Ezra. But that doctor is stupid for not preparing him for the sight of two policemen.
  23. sorry I'm late but better late than never: Tillykke med fødseldagen Frantic wawing of Danish birthday flags
  24. Tillykke med fødseldagen Waves Danish birthday flags at Gary And of course we need a SATW with Canada and Denmark
  25. I'm like Voin. It was only as Duffy explained it I realized it was Patty's color more than her married state which prevented her from actual customer contact in sales positions, or at least from advancing same as the white employees at FB. What a waste of talent. Voin suspects he has been set up, but we know from the previous chapter that Reed comes to pick up his mother every Saturday. It's simply a fortunate coincidence, and I'm sure Voin will think over Duffy's points and bring the matter up in one of his Views.
