  1. A joint Cupid/Guardian Angel/Imp story Now why didn't I think of that? Such a marvelous idea, droughtquake I can just imagine the outrage on Imp's face if a 'stupid Cupid' popped in and tried to shoot him with a silver arrow. And Angel might throw a hissy fit at any Guardian trying to intervene in their A.I. mission. Please may I borrow a Cupid, Aditus?
  2. I tried the short story approach once (with a prompt) and ended up with another ongoing incomplete story. But I've managed two contest short stories. Having the end in sight is something I ought to learn too. Oh, and Grame, which character from Leopards Leap are you thinking of, and what were the alternatives? If you want to reply in the story topic that's fine with me.
  3. Such sad stories, yet there was a ray of light, of hope and of love in each of them.
  4. Slowly the hidden parts of this beautiful flower are revealed: the devotion of the boys, the float planned by Barr department store, the plan of Monk and Waverly to free the prisoners. Of course not everything has come to fruition yet, but I hope Jason might be inspired evetually to do the Christmas decoration we all expect - including the 'first in the world' for his department store. Oh, and I was right about Dumas
  5. “I think it is time for you and I to have a little talk.” Rob turned around to grin at his brother, who had walked into his room with a quick rap on the open door. Eric closed it behind him and strode over to perch on the bed next to the older teen. “Of course, bro. Any time you want; but tell me first, did you have a good time last night?” “None of your business,” Eric growled. “That’s not what you told Mom.” Rob pretended to be puzzled, but when Eric punched his leg, he started laughing. “

    Chapter 22

Denise and Thomas are crazy to think they can get away with this. Shane's protector will hunt them down and cut them to pieces - and I don't mean literally, he's too clever for that. Why hasn't anyone told him yet?
  7. The recommendation in Denmark is to use a (Nordmann) fir, rinse the branches with water and let the tree dry somewhere warm, and only take it inside for Christmas Eve and remove it the next day. Of course, that's expensive - a lot of money for a very short use of a real tree.
  8. I can see Litlover has covered most of the fairy tale stuff, but I'd like to add one thing: The way Warren has changed and become someone Kellar can appreciate and like is truly amazing. He never expected that, and nor did we. It's a miracle or as you say The Stuff of Fairy Tales. From Warren's point of view the whole earth mate business and meeting Adelin must feel like he's in a dream or high. Not drug induced but like a fairy tale with a HEA in sight - he even uses the metaphor of finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The All in of the chapter note has several meanings too: Once Kellar has talked to Warren (and after teasing him a bit) he does go all in with welcoming his brother as family. He lets him have time with Adelin, he does his best to reassure him he will be welcome in the pack, he stops to see Denver at Warren's request, and of course most telling of all: he agrees they are true brothers from now on. On a side note, Tobyn is all in about seeking out other packs and of course finding Tilly's mate - and chasing anyone flirting with Kellar away. Of course, Warren is even more all in: with becoming Kellar's brother, Tilly and Tobyn's brother-in-law, a useful pack member, a good employee for Denver, a reformed character, staying away from drugs, and of course most of all with being Adelin's earth mate and protecting her, loving her and caring for her. For the first time in his life Warren has people who trust in him, who want him for himself, and I bet this second chance feels like the stuff of fairy tales too. I'm all in for Warren to help with dealing with the hunters, the fact he is a human may come in very handy, if the hunters can somehow detect shifters (and I had this thought the first time Kellar explained about the Reznicks).
  9. that's sad was it a spruce or a fir?
  10. Hmm, well that's an excuse I suppose, but what exactly is he allergic to? The tree itself? Does it mean he can't go walking in the Swedish forests?
  11. Tillykke med fødselsdagen ! Frantic waving of Danish birthday flags And to celebrate on of my favorite EPIC interactions: Frozen Scandinavia (SATW comiv)
  12. Two great undertakings are underway. We know where the Happy Christmas one will end, but what about the Great Escape? Will Monk and his helper come up with a brilliant idea to rival Jacob Jordan? I keep wondering how those loitering yong men earn their keep.
  13. I remember reading Brideshead Revisited many years ago, but I can't say I really identified with anyone.
  14. Dearest dragon, we're the ones who are sorry, for you having to face such devasting news. You have every right to cry out at the unfairness of it all. We'll be here for you as much as you need and want, never hesitate to post or PM if your virtual friends can be of use or support.
  15. Sigh, why does he hate himself for getting comforted by Bobby? He needs to talk to someone and they were best friends once. Even if they can never be more than that, what's wrong with being held and loved and cared for? I hope Bobby is too clever to give him pity, cause St. John would hate that, but I think Bobby needs to give comfort as much as Johnny needs to be OK with being held and feeling safe. We all need to feel safe and shouldn't be ashamed of it. Intense chapter, and it may be a pivotal one, unless Pyro shuts himself away again.
  16. Dodd may have a few redeeming qualities, and he is probably not the worst possible person to be in charge of the boys, but he is still a willing part of a bad system. I wonder if the Dumas book they are reading is The Count of Monte Christo? I hope you'll explain the General Strike of St. Louis to us ignorant Europeans. I know I could look it up, but I love it when you give us the facts behind the fiction in the story topic. It's always more interesting than anything I find on my own.

    Misery

I'm happy now; they're back to being close friends and Emm isn't denying their mutual attraction and the love. He'll get there sooner and later and meanwhile they can have a great time.I hope Ryan has told Emm's friendds and family to back off.
  18. I can remember being told the story about Archimedes years ago in school. Before there was anything such as personal computers. I can't recall if van Ceulen got in there too, so that was cool to read about. Thanks, Drew.
  19. It's true, singing and whistling are quite different from talking. People who stutter when talking can usually sing perfectly. I knew an old woman who had a rough voice and she wasn't much better at singing, but she could whistle tunes beautifully.

    Chapter 8

That was a good surprise. I think Alan's dad should arange to have their stuff sent home and leave the camper van for the community to use. Then he can get a flight home too, and his wife doesn't have to go back there. They can always return and pick it up once Lisa is home and fully functional.
  21. It was sweet to see the picture of the puppy which inspired the ending of the story and I agree it was a wonderful moment. However, two other things stood out for me in this chapter: Voin was Santa Claus in a much more profound way in that he together with Betty opened the door for Reed's Mom to start on her new career. And is was interesting to see how only a tiny push was needed for the woman in charge. I imagine this as the first small hole in the dam of tradition and discrimination, and a flood will sweep the old thinking away and Famous-Barr will sail proudly ahead on the tide of change. The other important moment was Betty's thought that while general fame may be wonderful, she may find more satisfaction in having her admirers close up and like family who happily appreciates her every word. She is making a huge difference in the lives of many people, not just those employed at FB but also the customers who benefit from the special spirit of this amazing department store. Such recognition and satisfaction is of more value than money and wordly fame.
  22. I'm trying to work out whether Mr. Monk is not interested in women at all, or simply not ready to think of miss Elizabeth or in fact interested in her. His blush was a surprise, but even better: he decided to visit his poor cousin. Your shifts from Christmas scenes back to the past keep us on our toes and guessing with a touch of frustration: what was Mr. Barr's great surprise? My modern suspicious mind came up with darker reasons for dressing children as grown-ups and placing them in 'romantic' situations on postcards, but I assume the ones you put forth are the correct explanations.
  23. I liked that you were tim as it meant I could be Tim. I'm sorry I listened to those saying it was wrong and I'll happily return to tim. lots of
  24. Ohhh, that first line should get me to finish Eric and Nelson's date !
