  1. I can be shocking just how oblivious a parent can be to what is going on in a child's life. Wally has already shown that his view of Zach's football talent is not in line with reality, and he also seems to be totally unaware of the previous situation between Zach and Gathan, so not figuring out what is growing between Zach and Will does not surprise me at all!

    Chapter 12

Hmmm - Barry dropped in Afghanistan on the way to drop Wally and Clara in Siberia? I can't wait to hear the explanation of why Zach's parents would agree to let Zach travel with Will and Matt, then in almost the same day jump on the sever ties with Will Bandwagon. ( But then - they may be driving that wagon - we shall see.) I am surprised that Zach reversed his decision to comply with the agent's demand so quickly. I thought it would take more than just two or three hours of silence to crack his resolve. A particularly emotional chapter. JP's timing, as usual, was impeccable. Well done Mr Arbour, well done!
  3. Based on previous happenings with Wally I would venture a guess it was not their idea to hire an agent at all. After all - if the boy did so poorly on the field in Wally's opinion, what would he need an agent for at all? I am thinking it much more likely Frank arranged for the agent, and then when meeting with the parents any comments they made about separating the boys was acted on by the agent.
  4. Like I said - Purple looks good on you!!! Congrats!
  5. I see a Matt/Will hookup as potentially causing a permanent rift in the family. Will have very strong feelings about how a brother should behave. Matt is beginning to see things in a similar light. I can't see a situation happening that would make either of them feel comfortable with the idea. We saw how Matt reacted when Will dropped his pants and challenged him a few chapters back. I think had Matt taken up the offer then it would have destroyed any chance of settling their differences, and I think a future hook up would have lasting ill effects. But then - those potentials may be just the reason for our esteemed author to consider it!
  6. I saw it as more...uplifting. That a little girl can see past all the nonsense and be thankful for donation of a heart. I've known transplant recipients who thought it was their right, not a supreme gift. This little girl sees it for just that!

    Chapter 11

We all knew that Zach/Will were headed to heartache eventually. The moment an agent was hired I knew it would come sooner than later. I do have to agree with some of the comments however and wonder how many of the "rumors" are real and how many were invented by the agent and/or Zach's parents. Having worked in a high school environment for years, I cannot believe those sorts of rumors were running around not just one, but two schools and never got back to the boys in any way. There would have been all sorts of horrid happenings from verbal abuse up to possible beat downs in the locker rooms. Happened to Robbie, didn't it? Brad, Wade, Matt and Will have a lot of shit to work through. Therapists will be busy this summer I am sure. Perhaps they should organize a huge group session with all the associated therapists involved. A retreat weekend so to speak. As usual sir, you did not fail to rivet me to the screen. Thank you.
  8. College Textbooks if you can hook up with upper classmen who had good grades. The highlights and margin notes are invaluable! Cars? I get leery of buying them used - if they were so great why did the first owner sell it?
  9. And not just the dudes.

    Chapter 10

Fantastic as usual. Things were quiet for too long, a blow up was inevitable!

    Spiders

Orcs usually leave behind such a nasty odor too. So glad Rath had better hygiene!
  12. Well done sir. Of course that may just give Joanne more fuel for her prompts!

    Spiders

I have been known to take pics of pretty webs. I just hate the one industrious spider that builds his web between the radio antenna in my jeep and the mailbox post every damn night. Can't see it when leaving for the farm before dawn!
  14. Your brain at 2 am makes more sense than most people I know when at their best. I identify as straight since I have never felt any sort of sexual attraction to another woman, but that does not change my assertion that it is the person you are attracted to. If the feelings are there you will make it work with whatever anatomical bits are involved.

May I ask what sort of competition it was? Your initial blog sounded like martial arts to me, yet Percy was speaking of working with your horse. I didn't see some of the injuries you listed as particularly detrimental to show competition unless you are in the 4 foot classes.
  16. Sometimes a little slow is better - you can iron out the glitches along the way so there are no setbacks.
  17. LOL Where I keep my horse they are what we shovel out of the barn, altho they are also coming to mean treats for the horses as well.
  18. Currently it's "Jeep" an '09 Wrangler soft top, and yes it has the 17"wheels. Going backwards there is "Silver", a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee that wings now drives, a mini van that got rearended three times and I sold as fast as I could when the insurance insistedon fixing 11k worth of damage the last time, then a '89 Dodge pick up and befor that a '84 Dodge Ramcharger.
  19. I am thinking its onions fried in the resultant drippings from a couple of slices of bacon. Hubbies German grandma always did her onions, and a lot of other things, that way. There always seemed to be a mason jar of bacon drippings in the fridge for just such jobs.
  20. Very similar to mom's version - we sauteed onions and left out the peas though ( other wise dad and bro ended up picking em out and piling em on the edge of the plate) Mom also would add the gravy darkener type stuff ( there are lots of brands) that are basically caramelized veggie juice. Adds a nice flavor and it doesn't look pale on the dish.

    Why are people so stupid?

Stupidity unfortunately is forever, at least ignorance can be fixed. Even if Claire's sister was totally indiscreet, there should never have been such an uproar. A quiet word with someone on the ward who then whispered to mom would have solved the problem. Maybe the over-reacting parents needed a tension release.
  22. How about Parmesan Crusted chicken? Sorry I don't have accurate measurements to give you - I cook to taste Mix about 1/4 mayo, about 1/4 c Parmesan cheese of your choice, garlic powder, salt and black pepper together. Add enough bread crumbs to make it thick and easy to spread. Spread onto chicken breasts or cutlets that have been patted dry. ( It sticks better) Place on baking sheet and into a 350*F(177*C) oven for approximately 20 minutes. The surface should be a pretty golden brown and the chicken firm but still moist. Cooking time will vary based on how thick the pieces are. These amounts will crust three breasts sliced into 6 thinner pieces or pounded out to the desired thickness.
  23. and it doesn't work and play well with others! Had to get a newer printer because my perfectly fine old printer doesn't have an appropriate drive software update.
  24. Sounds like exactly what we all went thru with '95, & '98
  25. The way things are right now DMD is basically a death sentence. If this drug has shown no harmful side effects yet, the FDA may be needlessly delaying treatment that could make a huge difference. They tend to error to the side of caution because so many meds don't show their real dangers for years after approval. (The diet drug that caused heart damage years later comes to mind.) But if the children who suffer from DMD don't have the years for the additional trials, which may not show the ultimate dangers anyway, what is the point? Perhaps if the petition gets denied the parents can get the boy enrolled in one of the clinical trials?
