  1. LOL I would wager Mann finds it more flattering than annoying
  2. And I got one of those super absorbent mops!
  3. I know I am late to this party, but I would like to put in my two bits. Most if not all the answers have come from authors. I would like to put in a new perspective. I fully understand how sometimes a story needs to sit in the drawer while real life takes precedence for an author. But beta readers and editors have real lives too. Even if you were to produce a chapter a day and finish a 40 chapter story in as many days, your support team might not be able to keep up with you. I try hard to give a three to five day turn around for a chapter. I work with more than one author however, and if more than one drops more than one chapter into my inbox I sometimes find myself several chapters behind. Right now i have 8 chapters for three different authors all waiting for my attention. I try and handle them first in/first out unless a posting schedule would be affected by that. At 3 to 5 days per chapter you can see I am currently about 40 days behind the 8-ball. I refuse to rush through however. I am not a professional editor and make enough mistakes as it is! It is also not fair to the support staff to short sheet them on time. Are your readers expecting a post on Friday? Don't send it to a beta on Monday hoping to re-work any issues Tuesday, edit on Wednesday, polish on Thursday and publish on Friday. That almost guarantees something happening in the "real lives" of the team that puts you behind. Some things just have to take precedence over writing/beta reading/editing. That being said - I would recommend being well ahead of your posting schedule. If for you that means the story is finished, go for it. For most that means anywhere from 5 to 10 chapters in the can and waiting to post before actual publication. I also recommend that you maintain a measured posting schedule - once a week, or every other week, if you are posting before completion of the actual writing. Give yourself, and your support staff, that cushion. I am acquainted with one author who had about half the story written, edited and ready before starting to post, but then posted daily chapters until posting had caught up with his completed chapters. He then had his readers hopping up and down demanding more frequent posts.
  4. You need to be patient Providence. Winner posts the next quote and with people playing all over the world sometimes it takes a day or two to move forward!
  5. I told myself I was not going to allow you to draw me into a personalized argument like we have had in the past, but I can't not comment on this one. Being a little older than the average reader in this forum, I have many friends who are on second marriages, some after divorces and some after losing partners to untimely deaths. The combining of families is always difficult. The parents who assumed their teens were not mature enough to have input on the blending of the families are the ones who had the major difficulties. Those that allowed the teens to "have input in the adults lives" as you put it are the ones who settled into happy combined families. As I have said before - there are very few black and white issues in life. Every single individual on the planet needs to be dealt with INDIVIDUALLY, and that means they can be incredibly mature about some things and totally childish about others, and their chronological age has very little to do with it.
  6. Can he find lost things around rhe house too?
  7. LOL I think Sasha has to be so prolific because if he didn't write all this shit down the voices in his head would drive him to the funny farm. I get one little voice once in a while and have to write a prompt or some other short to shut him up. I can't conceive what it would be like having Kier and Oli and the new bears and little Yulva and the huskies all running around in there at the same times!

    Chapter 12

The slow seduction continues, both between Alex and JJ and author and reader. You have chosen to build the drama in this book more slowly than some of the others, and you have us all sitting back and guessing where you are going to go next. Well done, sir! I have yet to decide if I should be amused by the predicament the boys found themselves in with a broken handcuff key in hand, or feel sorry for them. Panic would be close to unavoidable I think. I have little respect for that coach, and even less for the team doctor. All for the team is a great concept if it applies to everyone, but obviously the team management was willing to sacrifice Zach's ankle, with the possibility of his entire career, for the sake of the teams winning streak. That a medical professional charged with the overall health of the team would allow Zach to play so soon after a severe sprain leaves me wondering if he is concerned with the health and well being of the players, or with that of the stats.
  9. LOL so sorry ladies but I can't join that united front against racing you are forming. I was bitten by the bug (although it was stock cars rather than motorcycles) when I was about 10 and spent a goodly amount of my free time and disposable income on the sport when I was in my 20's. I still love watching a good race, and no, not for the accidents like so many do. A green flag race from start to finish is about the most wished for thing in any automotive pit.
  10. Does anyone else wonder if that skating coaches kids were a subject of his unwanted sexual attention? Hopefully JJ has a better grip on things after several years of therapy. Just cause we haven't been hearing about it doesn't mean it stopped, especially after 9-11
  11. That would sort of depend a lot on the coloring and ancestry of the momma too. Might not be as obvious as you might think!
  12. LOL good luck on that one Dughlas. I can see them wanting children, but my bet is that they would not just hire a stranger. I am seeing something more like finding a friend who becomes very close carrying the children for them, and using a mix of both men's sperm so that the children are "theirs" not "yours" or "mine". Determining actual paternity isn't really important unless some medical issue comes up later, and it can be determined then.
  13. I haven't been around a long time but I have been here long enough t know I don't want your job! Thanks for everything you do.Happy GAniversary
  14. Famous last words. Every single time I have heard that phrase, something fairly major has indeed gone wrong! Now you have me looking at what hints you may have hidden so far in the story as to what could go wrong. <looks around wildly> Where's that notebook????
  15. A M/D complex may have been seen as a "straight thing" in the past, but who is to say things haven't changed and evolved. I am old enough to remember when AIDS was a "gay thing" and the general belief was that if you were straight you didn't need to worry about getting the horrible disease. We all know better now after years of additional research. The world just simply is NOT black and white. There are various degrees to just about everything. Is getting a second room in Zach's hotel prudent? Probably not but time will tell. Teens who think they are in love, whether they really are or not, do stupid things. If they didn't things like STD's and teen pregnancies would be much less prevalent. Will and Zach don't have the corner on that market, it is indicative of teen behavior everywhere. Will just has more money to play with in the process. The only thing I see as "wrong" with Alex and JJ is the disparity in maturity and experience. JJ may be older than Will, but emotionally he is way behind him. I can see him getting really hung up on Alex, something that will eventually come to an end when Alex is expected to marry and produce an heir. Even if Alex treats him like gold until then, it will still be one hell of a blow to JJ when it finally happens.
  16. Oh good lord - an elf out to celebrate? TAKE COVER! Have a super great day.
  17. I think in this case, given the Crampton/Shulter/Hayes family history, the garden may not be out of the question. I am picturing under some grand memorial to Robbie in a botanical garden in Claremont.

    Chapter 11

I have to agree with impunity - I can feel the pressure building before the storm breaks. There is so much potential for offal to hit the air circulation device. Waiting to see what hits first and how hard is going to be sweet torture.
  19. lay out the caffeine and pain killers before you go out, set everything right for Monday morning, and then... Have a great day! Happy Birthday
  20. Pretty much Irri. But doesn't most of the world actually look at it that way without really realizing it?
  21. Jimminy Cricket! I go out for a couple hours and you guys put up dozens of posts! You don't necessarily need to read Bad Stereotypes before Unexpected Liaisons, but it helps. A lot of just who Zu is comes from the first book. Likes run on a 24 hour basis. So if your first like yesterday was at 10 am you get one back today at 10. Tiger Winter has two chapters in various stages of editing. Based on the rate he writes and how much is left to post of the current stories, I doubt we will have a week with no posts, but you may just have to live with several weeks of only one post a week. Now - as for pervertedness - just what are your standards? Where is the line between kink and perversion? IMO kinky is anything one is not into themselves, but is willing to participate in to please a lover. Perverted is anything you would not do even if it meant saving the known world. Everything else falls into the category of a diversified sex life!
  22. I believe she is referring t posts # 155 and 156. I think they were on page 8
