  1. When asked who gave here the authority to refuse the licenses, she calmly stated God's authority does. Add in the fact her husband has stated that he is a good ole Southern boy who strongly believes in the second amendment, I can't help to feel this might end ugly. BTW, where is Kentucky's Governor in all this? They shall discuss in 2 months when they sit again. Spineless himself I say.

    Chapter 56

    ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  3. It is a brand of Sunflower Seeds, Spitz. They are a company from a little town a couple of hours south of here. They turned the sunflower seed world on their head when they roasted them and soaked them in flavours like potato chips. They have original, dill pickle, smokey bbq, seasoned (seasoning salt flavoured and my favourite), and black pepper. Very, very, very addicting and not good for you sodium intake Also, you mentioned working in a concession. Recently was reading Graeme's story and he keeps mentioning a concession, as in Tickets prices are $20 for adults, $10 for a concession, and free under 12. Well i thought it was a $10 concession voucher, but it actually means a reduced ticket price for students between 12 and an adult. Who knew?
  4. :music: Happy Birthday Adam :music: Sorry about the belated wishes Hope the day was amazing!!!
  5. Ahem...*gets up on his soapbox* So, decided to try and download Windows 10 on my desktop. All seemed to go until the reboot and I had all these lovely Microsoft apps that didn't work if they needed to connect to the internet. So, even though Chrome and Firefox worked, I couldn't check out Edge, log into the Game store, Microsoft store, Search the web or even my computer. After reading 101 articles and trying multiple things, gave up and clicked on the support link in the Windows Update page. All these different options to get help, I chose to do live chat. Now before you all scream at me, Microsoft does offer live chat if YOU GO TO THEM. It was not a scam or fake web page. After chatting with a tech and reading through Microsoft lingo, I gave her remote access to my computer. She played around for about an hour and a half and came up with the resolution that it need to be escalated to a senior tech. Shuffle ahead to Thursday, and the preset appointment was for 8 PM. I get a call and going through all the tasks, give him access. He tries to do an internet rebuild, use a couple of other programs, nothing seems to work. So, he then goes to my manufacturers webpage, and searches my model. Turns out they haven't and will not be updating drivers for my model to operate Windows 10. This is after I did the Windows 10 upgrade check on my system to see if I'm compatible. Great! Now I know, so I want to go back to Windows 8.1, so ask the tech to go to reinstall that (I had already tried ) So in the recovery option, it says you have 30 days after installation to go back to your previous version. So, like me he clicks on it as it has only been 2 weeks since I downloaded and installed 10. Guess what pops up? Sorry, we cannot recover your previous version as files have been overwritten. His recommendation, just use 10 without any connection for the Windows apps or contact the manufacturer to complain. My comment is at this point, your company said I was compatible, your company provided the download, your company couldn't fix the problem, your company overwrote my previous version of Windows, so what is your company is going to do? He asked me to wait a couple of weeks and he would talk to his colleagues about possibly giving me a new copy of Windows 8.1 but I would lose my copy of Office 10 which I paid for in full through a work program. When I asked if they would replace that as well, I got a definite no. Tell him I will think about it and then think that I'm more of a puter genius that what I am (don't we all think we can do things like that, how many expert plumbers, electricians, realtors do we have out there? ) Well long story short, after a reboot, I get a message saying No operating system can be found, press ESC to try again. Oh well, guess the decision is now, do I replace the tower (I am partial to my desktop opposed to my laptop). If I do, do I get another Windows based machine? I don't really have a problem with my manufacturer as the desktop was 3 years old and I can understand them not wanting to release drivers for every machine they have ever made. So, that is my experience with Window 10 *Steps off soapbox*
  6. Wow, what a great week. Hoping the weather was great where you are, we hit 3 record breaking days for the past 10 years here so enjoying being indoors for a while and working on the wrap up. First off, the voting for the first round picking the 2016 Anthology Themes is now closed. A very big thank you to everyone who contributed to narrowing down the number of great ideas. GA relies on you the Members to help drive the direction of these special events, and sincerely appreciates your input. The week started off with the blog reviewing our Feature Story. This week it focused on our month's Signature Author, Dolores Esteban's story Cold Case. Cia contributed a great review which has now piqued my interest and I have added it to my reading list. Also there is the link where you can download the Signature Background for the month as well. Check the story out and make sure you leave a review. Wednesday was a followup with Interview Wednesday with Dolores Esteban. Dolores agreed to sit down in the dark and dank interview room at GA, with a single light shining in her face, a dripping noise coming from the corner, handcuffed to the table and the smell of second hand smoke in the room....okay, got carried away there . Cia asked Dolores some interesting questions including where she got the inspiration for Cold Case. Surprising to me, Cold Case spun out of a Prompt Friday prompt from Comicfan. Great to see that what started as a prompt response turned into a full story. Friday, Cia took over the blog for Friday's Prompt Me. Comicfan this week presented us with two different prompts. First Creative prompt was for all the Anne Rice or Stephanie Meyers fans out there; Vampires. If you think you can do better than the two them, why don't you give a stab at upstaging them . The second one was creative as well with using the following words; a clown, a motorcycle, vacation tickets, chocolate cake, and a ring. Sounds like a good horror story theme. Lastly, Cia featured James Savik's response to Prompt 437. Great job James!! 9. I will differ too D.P. asked for a story that you'd like a sequel or know more about, and CJ has already provided it to us. Jake, was a sequel to his anthology Three for Jake. What I liked about this story the most was that he took a subject that many have tried really hard to make seem real and actually made it feel real for the fist time. At the end of the story you can actually relate to this different mix working out instead of having more doubts than feelings of it all working out. Check them out
  10. I hate the word 'But', it seems like it just confirms that what is before it is not the truth in a lot of cases: I'm not a racist but I don't like green people I like you but I'm having trouble connecting with you What a great story but what was with the main character You're a great kid but you act immature.

  14. Was working at a major arena where the circus was in town Saw a 5-6 year old throw up right in the middle of the concourse an abhorrently large amount of cola, cotton candy, candy, ice cream and whatever else the kid somehow managed to get into his stomach that day. So while one coworker went to find a maintenance worker to clean up the Lake Superior of vomit, I stayed around the putrid smelling area (trust me, I nearly lost it due to the smell) to warn people away from it. Right on cue comes angry Mom with dragging two kids behind her yelling at them for not using the bathroom earlier. She is dressed to the nines and in heels. I am between her and the Sea of Núrnen of Mordor and try to stop her and her kids from entering the abyss. But no, she yells at me to get the hell out of her way and side steps me. It was like a horror show that you can't turn yourself away from Down she went in her heels and went sliding a few feet. Worse, her innocent kids came down with her and and were lost in the pool of ick too. Before I lost my own cookies, I had to turn and look away. She was suddenly not so vocal and all I heard was the uh uh uh uh uh of her stunned as she found herself on the ground in puke. As a couple of maintenance workers showed up with mop buckets she righted herself and her two kids and stormed out the nearest emergency exit. Don't think the workers had much to clean up as she and the kids took most of it with them. I wonder if her kids got to use the bathroom .
  15. Congratulations Craftingmom, Puppilull, and Blake Logan You all did much better than I did
  16. Read a very interesting article, which didn't bring in politics The Declaration of Independence The right to Life; the upholding of Obamacare to ensure all Americans have the right to live and have access to the medical treatment to pursue that. The right to Liberty; States removing the Confederate Flag and symbols of the flag which is looked upon by the majority of Americans as being as a symbol of old attitudes and discrimination. The right to the Pursuit of Happiness; Marriage equality allows all Americans to pursue marriage which some would call the most significant symbol of happiness. I think that the US had a giant correction to make this document even more true and meaningful once again. Even in the 2000's, shy of 250 years later. Also this declaration was the document that some will argue framed the US constitution. My congratulations is not just to the US for the Marriage Equality, but to all Americans for what may be looked back upon as one of the most historic weeks in the history of US in hundreds of years Please note that the first and second many be contentious among different members. I just feel if you look at America as a whole, this is a good example of progress. I'm not looking for an argument, but, if you so feel to argue against the points I won't stop you, just I won't respond

    Chapter 34

Great story Craftingmom!!!! Early on I didn't know if I would enjoy a story of a merman, thinking it was a little too far out there for my liking. I guess in a way, that was a part of Casey, but more so the story was about the wounded, scared, isolated human being that was being kept prisoner by his Uncle. The relationship that developed between Shawn and Casey was the real story to me. Well done
  22. I remember hearing it on the radio back 20 years ago. I think Ironic was the first song that the radio played. The thing about me is that I usually like a song based on the music and the lyrics are a second to me. That song drew the lyrics out to me and I found myself buying the CD immediately and listening to the entire CD and knowing every word. So many songs still bring back flashbacks to certain things in my mid 20's. Actually this morning I hit shuffle on the iPhone to my Favourites playlist on the iPhone and You Oughta Know came up first One side story, that still has me laughing...I used to have a job at the Saddledome and saw many many concerts. Ozzy Osbourne was playing and as the lights went down, the entire back of the stage was a giant screen and randomly went through some of the top videos of the time. They were being played but they had inserted Ozzy into them. When ironic came up and there were 3 Alansis's and 1 Ozzy in the car singing their heads off, the crowd was going crazy. When that video ended, Ozzy was on stage and started the show. The cheering never ended from the video to the appearance of Ozzy.
  23. I feel shame Most of the opening games are being held 2 1/2 hours to the north of me. I thought about starting a thread but then I'll be honest, I thought would there be interest in Women's Football? Sadly we see that in a lot of the Women's team sports. For example hockey ( ), there is a following for it here but very, very limited. Add in the fact that it is usually between Canada and the US with some bursts from the Scandinavian teams, it doesn't have a following. Look at women's basketball, a lot of foreigners can name NBA teams, but I can't name a single WNBA team ( I think the league is still around ). I remember that for Sochi, women were lobbying the IOC for a women's competition in ski jumping, went to court and such, but the fact is, there is no audience or interest in it. If you were a corporate sponsor, I'm not sure if I would split my dollars between women and men's sports as they have such huge viewing differences. Why, I don't know.
  24. :music: Happy Birthday Old Bob :music: Hope it was a great day!!!
