So in all my years at GA, this is my first blog that I have done Since it is politically sensitive it had to go here instead of a Lounge topic. Thursday marked what I consider a monumental change in the way gay rights is viewed in the US. http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/24/us-usa-boyscouts-ban-vote-idUSBRE94M1A320130524 I personally know of some members here at GA that have tried to help American Scouts to get their Eagle Scout badge after they were kicked out for being gay. So much that they applied to the Boy Scouts of Canada to recognize them for what they surely deserve. One very interesting part of the article: I can't help but feel a feeling of hope to see the Church of Latter Day Saints and the United Methodist Church voting in FAVOUR or lifting the ban as a very, very positive step. Hopefully it is a new direction of the LDS church which traditionally opposed any rights of the GLBT community. The absence of the Catholic Church's opinion is expected as they have agreed that GLBT people are welcomed into the church as long as they don't practice behaviours that the Church frowns on. Although I openly oppose this rule of their Church, by them not opposing it, it appears they are making small strides in what I consider the right direction. The change.org petition which led the largest corporate sponsors to threaten withdrawal of monetary support (Intel, UPS, etc.) must have had a very major and impacting message to the Boy Scouts of America. I agree with the final sentiments of the article that the ban on openly gay leaders could fall in the near future. After all the petitions for the removal of the ban on gay scouts garnered 1.8 million signatures against the 250,000 signatures to keep the status quo. I know it is sometimes hard to recognize some organizations that our community tends to disagree with but I'm willing to congradulate the LDS and UMC for making what I think is a historical first steps towards equality of all with no basis on Age, Gender, Religion and Sexual Identification. Bravo!

Rest In Peace Napervic: 1968 - 2013, Rest In Peace
wildone commented on Trebs's blog entry in Gay Authors News
Talk to you later old guy.... Like others, I met Vic but not through chat. I was originally attracted to GA through Dom's Desert Droppings and when I got here there was this guy named NaperVic who seemed to be Dom's editor, publicist, statistician, publicist and beta-zeta reader. He engaged me to join up and make posts in Dom's Forum and that is when I began to talk with Vic. I was soon to learn that he was none of the above but he was the most loyal dedicated fan that kept everyone in the loop and always kept up the hope that Dom would be back again one day. I'm sure he is still wishing that for all of us. I can't remember if we were MSN friends first, or if we met in chat. We hit it off instantly though and we did have long conversations into the wee hours of some mornings where we talked about people, what people were doing, where people were going, but most importantly we talked about us. Even occasionally during the day my MSN would alert me that Vic was sneaking a break from work to check in. I echo all the sentiments about Vic being a force in chat. A silence force in many more ways than most of us know. He was a confident, a friend, a mentor, a sounding board, and much much more to so many over the years it is amazing to think that he meant so much to so many people. I know his pom-pom cheering smiley is retired, but it was so much Vic. He would be anyone's cheerleader in life if you realized it or not. I too have my regrets. We had talked about meeting a few years back on one of my trips to the States. Unfortunately our schedules didn't work out so we were both left with making promises to do so 'next time'. Unfortunately I will never meet you next time on this earth, but hopefully we will meet in the future. There is so much more that I want to go on and talk about Vic and in a way talk to Vic. He has been an influence in my life, a rock of support, and a friend that I will always consider a friend for life. This may be goodbye for now, but not forever. Before I short out my keyboard with the tears that are flowing from my eyes, I will sign off by saying that for the past 6-7 years we always teased each others about being older and younger than the other. I'm 3 months younger than Vic so I had the pleasure of always calling him the old guy Talk to later Vic. You will me missed on earth but you will never be missing in my heart, mind or soul. Love Steve -
While we are happy about Minnesota passing Gay Marriage, we are closing this topic due to the the political leanings of anything beyond a simple congrats. If you wish to discuss this further, please do so in a blog. Forum Moderation Team

Circumnavigation (99+56) The Belly of the Beast

Well I think in the narration, CJ said that Atlantis crippled with no sails would not be able to keep up with the eye of the hurricane. That is why I discounted the riding it out to land option. Another thought occurred to me Dolphins are known to help humans in need. Where do dolphins go in a hurricane? Isn't it possible that there is a pod (usually around 12) in the area. Could the dolphins do their part in getting them to shore in Jamaica if they four left on Atlantis could manage to keep their heads above water. Option 2, a whale rescues them as well. Last option, 3 Mermen for Trevor, Shane and Lisa and a Mermaid for Joel The more I think about it, especially the part of where dolphins go in a hurricane (they need air after all, can't just dive and stay under), I think there is a actually possibility of this happening. Will have to wait and see -
Good point Ghostboy. Right now congrats are okay, but if it goes anywhere political it will need to be closed. Please everyone keep this in mind! Thanks

Boston wins in overtime!!!!

Well I will be 100% honest, I'm not a fan of Vancouver or Toronto. So goodbye Vancouver and soon...Goodbye Toronto To add icing to the cake, Dion Pheneuf totally screwed up and gave Boston the opportunity to win in Overtime

I don't know what everyone is worried about . In my version of the story all the four need to do is get out some tennis rackets and hit the fluffy pink bunnies into the calm water That is an interesting picture. I know Boeing/Bell has been trying to sell them to Canada but I don't believe we have any. Not 100% sure though. Okay, now for my theory...The hurricane reaches closest to land at Portland Head in Jamaica. Not sure where the guys are right now, but in theory, if they could get in close enough to land in the eye, tie some ropes around the gold which is now shaped into an anchor and jump overboard. They would be below water, but hopefully in shallow enough water that the waves over top of them would be not damaging to their eardrums, body, etc. If they could survive the eye wall passing overhead than float up, the waves moving from the counter clockwise motion on the back end could take them into shore. Yes they would have to battle the storm surge and back tow into the open ocean, but it is conceivable. Sorry, that is the best that I can come up with -
Sorry Matt, Usually I kick in my own money to run the pool. Due to unforeseen circumstances I can't really afford to put up the money for the Premium Subscription this year . This year will be just for bragging rights I guess With that said, here are my picks: Round 1: Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Washington, Boston Chicago, Anaheim, Vancouver, LA Round 2: Pittsburgh, Washington Chicago, Anaheim Division Finals: Pittsburgh Chicago Stanley Cup Final: Pittsburgh Penguins P.S. I'm going to move this to the Sports Bar with a trail back to the Lounge

I agree that Frank has unleashed the Norte cartel on the remnants of Bridget's and the other capos. If one thing is consistent is that cartels will wait for a moment of weakness before pouncing and making their rivals operation theirs. I imagine in the next chapter we will learn of the death of the families of the Cartel and the elimination of the ones hiding in Treasure Cove. If Trevor, Shane, Joel and Lisa survive, they will not have to hide anymore as Bridget's and the FAE's cartel are the only ones to know of the tape and the revelations. Tomorrow I will do some research to see if a boat has ever survived in the eye of a hurricane. I know people on land have, but not sure on the open seas. I wouldn't mind seeing the crew of Atlantis enjoying a few Corona's on the beaches of Mexico as the hurricane deposits them on shore -
5858 as of right now BayouDreamn I too wondered if Jamaica had a navy, but I think CJ mentioned that they were all busy with the evacuation and such. I don't think there was a ship in Puerto Rico either. Maybe Cuba can come to the rescue

Just so everyone knows, there is a nifty little feature if there is someone talking about the chapter before you have seen it and don't want to read those posts. If you go to the top of your screen on the right, you should see your Profile name with a drop down menu. Drop it down and go to 'My Settings'. When the new screen comes up, on the left menu, choose the 'Ignore' Preferences. You can type in any other member name and choose posts. This will prevent you from seeing their posts. A couple of problems with it. You will not see any of their posts anywhere on the site. Also, if someone replies to their post, you will see it then and the person's reply. I guess you need to weigh the pro's and con's of using it

It has been not quite 3 weeks I can't help the feeling that the wait will be well worth it, though I have nothing really to base it on. All I can suggest is be patient. It will get here when it does. I know from past experience that the waiting can be agonizing but try going six month between chapters (Krista ). I can offer you a to hold you over -
I heard yesterday that the Blackberry Z10 has made RIM money last quarter. Also, two of the major carriers in Canada started taking pre-orders for the new Blackberry Q10 which is the same as the Z10 but has the keyboard that so many users loved from the original Blackberries. Another major feature is to have two separate and complete platforms all on one phone. You'll be able to have a work and a personal platform thus enabling your work IT department have access to the work side but no access to your personal platform. Just wondering if Blackberry is in the grave as so many predicted with the iPhone and Samsung replacing much of it's market
