Mark I asked no fighting in this forum and GA. Please take it out on a fellow driver on your way home after work

Just finished watching my predicted last place Flames get one point playing the Caps. There was only one fight in the game, I missed and all the other TV viewers missed it due to an injury at the other end of the ice. It wasn't much. I still was interested in the game and I wasn't yearning a fight. Like I said, my opinion has changed over the last few years. I just don't think that you need fighting to make the game exciting. I'm sure there will be some that will whine and say that the game was better in the past but they will still support the game. Actually, if fighting was banned, just think of the amount of people that would support and watch that have dismissed it for being a goon sport. Tet, you mentioned that the fans and players want the fighting, or was it the hitting in the NFL? If it was in reference to the NFL, the NHL doesn't have a billion dollars to give out to the people permanently injured from the dangerous violence. I don't think their is enough fans to support the lawsuits that are coming.

Hello Mr. Phoenix, long time no talk I don't know what is good for you to be brutally honest. I can only share what was good for me. I guess I knew I was gay but I, myself, didn't want to accept it. In University there were GSA's as well as an accepting culture. I thought about saying something but no I didn't. There wasn't a hope in hell that I was going to give ANYONE the idea to question if I was gay. This involved some things like knowing when the GSA ran their jeans day (a funny way of saying if you wore jeans on one particular day, you supported gay rights). Nope, I knew when it was and made sure to wear shorts the first year (in winter) and khakis the next. I never put myself in a position that either myself or anyone could question my sexuality. Uni did not go good. After the second year and barely staying off of Academic Probation, I dropped out. Still, I did not reveal to myself or anyone that I was gay. I eventually reached the first step, which I hear you saying you are at, admitting that I am gay. Since this is getting long I will tell you the next major step. I was in seeing a doctor and a nurse asked me if I was straight or gay. Suddenly something overcame me and I said I'm gay. The next thing I said was she was the first person I ever told. She said it didn't need to put it on the chart and said it was a big step in my life. It was, I walked out with about 400 lbs. off my shoulders. The rest is a loooong story, but that was how it was for me. First admitting to myself, second telling a complete stranger that I still don't know why I did. Like the others, counselors at your Uni are basing their career on keeping your confidence. What could it hurt to meet one, say you're gay and not ready to come out, and want to have a follow up meeting a week later to see if you want to talk about it? Finally, are you still a Canadian Citizen? You might still have provincial healthcare even though you are out of the province, but going to school. Stay in touch as I am hoping to see you come back and say you did this and that, and things are getting better

I'm worried by Spin too! As far as the Fox station, I think they are in the clear. I don't think all the money in the world would hurt Fox's 'freedom of the press'. Also, I don't believe that the US has protection of minors from the press that a lot of other countries do. But lets not make this into a Soapbox discussion The most pressing thing on my mind right now, is that we have most everyone paired up. Now we have Luka, Brandon, Diego and Erik. With the water the way it is in this town, who is going to match up with whom? Care to guess before it happens? Also, is there going to be something between Stephanie and Ace, or did Sarge's reply to Ace's rebut about not being informed as if he really was part of the team exclude him from finding happiness with a female? Thank you for the chapter Andrew and can't wait to hear that Spin is okay .....I hope

I thought I would start a topic here about fighting in the NHL. Let me give my opinion (yes, just my personal opinion) first. I grew up playing hockey and played until my accident. I have always enjoyed hockey and all the dynamics about it. From a little kid to an adult, I have always accepted that hockey is a physical sport and part of that is the fighting aspect. From about the age of 16 to maybe 20, I may have been in the odd scrap on the ice (a) . Also, from the age of 15 to 40 I worked a part time job at the Saddledome in Calgary as a rink rat which involved working between periods and after the game, but during the period I was a spectator. Imagine how many professional and amateur hockey games I've watched over 25 years. I get frustrated when people talk about taking all violence out of hockey. It is bad for our kids to watch, their is no worth in physical play, it makes finesse players not continue on due to the violence in hockey....etc. I'm not going to bore you with why these things frustrate(d) me. What I'm going to say is that my opinion has been changing over the last few years. Now I can't seem to understand why I now think that maybe hockey would be better without fighting. Maybe it is the lack of 'rules' to fighting now. Maybe it is the injuries that are becoming more serious from fighting. Maybe it is just not getting the same thrill of seeing two grown men beating the crap out of each others. I still think that my adrenalin and heart rate rises when I see a fight, but I do feel a sense of emptiness and a bit ashamed when it is over. Don't get me wrong, I still think body checking and the intensity of the game should stay. Just maybe that can still function without the fighting. So what do you think? Do you still believe that fighting is an important part of the game? Do you say to remove fighting is taking a huge element out of the game? Has your opinion changed over the years and why do you think it has? So lets have a civil conversation and lets not fight over this

Graeme, when did you sneak off and do some writing As always you capture your audience quickly. Luckily (or unluckily) this is a short. So we saw the reason of the embarrassment and shame that Paul must have been feeling somewhat, but more so his sister and Dad. The fact that he wasn't gay and his Mom saw through this really makes us question our first impressions and stereotypes that we all have. An excellent story and teaches us something at the same time. Thanks for sharing

No, New Hampshire is better because it is New Lets see, left Germany when I was two, so really can't comment. Moved to Calgary and watched a city of 250,000 grow to over 1.2 million. Have always considered it home no matter where I have been. To describe the city, I would say modern with a touch of historical western. People are overall very considerate and friendly. Moved to Lethbridge a city of 75,000 a couple of hours south of Calgary. Smaller city with a very laid back attitude. Some stores are still not open on Sunday and Monday. All the amenities of big city but still the rural feel. Also home of a large University and College, so the young ones keep the city vibrant. Moved to Medicine Hat, a city of maybe 50,000 that is 3 hours SE of Calgary and near the Saskatchewan border. If there is anyone on GA that is from the Hat, I apologize in advance, but I hated that place. The people were very self centred. If you were born and raised there, or with a family, then I'm sure it is a lovely place. For adults moving there, very unwelcoming and you actually get a cold feeling that they can't be bothered with you because you didn't grow up there. I know I'm not the first or the last person to leave and never want to go back. The small town attitude rings strong there and you can see how people of colour or sexual identity other than hetro are tolerated but not really welcomed. Moved back to Calgary and quite happy being back

well downloaded it and have a few comments already: 1) Is is gobbling up battery life quicker, or is it that I'm playing with it more (my phone that is ) 2) You used to be able to close down apps in the background with a double press of the button and hold down the apps till you got a minus sign. Not able to do that now, but I'm sure someone knows how. 3)Took forever to find the search function...Seems I have trouble reading swipe down from the middle of the screen instead of swipe down from the middle of the top of the screen. Yang, you should be able to play by genre. I still have the same options in the 'More' section of Music

Wouldn't be surprised if this makes an appearance on Big Bang Theory. Maybe a guess appearance by Tim and have Sheldon belittling him because of his jealousy I didn't understand a single thing of it, but who cares

Downloading it as we speak. Will comment after a few days of playing with it

You don't want to know You are right KC. Actually moderation issues are always kept between the individual and FMT, but I think it is safe to say that is exactly what happened with the 'Dislike' Button. A FEW people would use their daily maximum of Likes/Dislikes to sabotage another members Rep Points. There is always the option of reviewing a story, using the PM system to message the person, or even responding to a post. To have an anonymous 'Dislike' button I personally think (my personal opinion, not the FMT's or anyone else) is a poor way to try to communicate and builds on the feeling of 'Who could be doing this to me' feeling that you get when you see your Rep continuously going down and having no feedback as to why. That is not a feeling that I would wish on anyone

So I was thinking of replacing the Kitty reference with 'The Omnipotent One'

Well Robin was always assumed to be Batman's gay boytoy. So if Justin is trying to come out slowly, this may be a first step I don't really care either way. One superhero series that has never caught my attention or like has been the Batman series.
