    Same here. There's a complete disconnect between the higher-ups and the worker bees. It's really quite mind-boggling to me. I was furloughed from my job of 15 years due to the pandemic and ended up leaving for employment elsewhere. Last year, I went to my old supervisor's retirement party and the company's CEO was there. When I was introduced, they told him "oh she doesn't work here anymore." He actually asked me "Oh, why is that?" The look on his face when I said "Because you furloughed me!" was priceless. I could continue on with my own rant here, but I won't. I will say this poem is very evocative and so sadly true.

    A rant, indeed. I loved the part about the squirrel disguise. It must have been a very passionate relationship to provoke this much anger. Definitely time for a one-night stand. This was very well-written!

    I really enjoyed this story. I could feel the connection between Virgil and Wyatt. I'm sure they'll have a great future together. This was written with your usual flair for westerns. And of course, there was an appaloosa Thank you for including it in the anthology

    I had totally forgotten about that challenge from Astone until I read the end. I thought this was a hysterical take on the prompt, although my penguin assassins are definitely regretting eating that pizza I thought the dustbunnies were really clever and reminded me of some of the creatures from Piers Anthony's Xanth series. This was definitely a unique addition to the anthology! Thank you for participating

    Wow... this story had me on the edge of my seat! It was a very well-written take on a dystopian future that, unfortunately, isn't as far outside the realm of possibility that we might think. Thank you for including it with the anthology!

    Thanks! Me too! Whenever I think of the first poem, I picture Campino giving a middle finger to the sky as he sings "Wort zum Sonntag". I think the last line of that song is my new mantra
