Reader is right. If it's a title or proper noun, such as Signature Author or Grand Poobah Site Wizard Myr, then it's capitalized. Otherwise it's authors or poets.

I'm looking forward to the prompt blog being posted tomorrow just so I can stop twitching every time I see the random capitalization in the title of this blog

I'd be in jail for murder if anyone did that to me.

A common mistake I see is the capitalization of "mom" and "dad". They're capitalized if being used as proper nouns. "I told Mom I'm going to the store after work today." They are not capitalized if preceded by a possessive pronoun. "My dad is dating your dad."
