And the inter-office tension with Northman escalates, but CJ has developed quite the support system simply by being himself. I do believe Northman's days are numbered in his position. I loved that Home for Heroes was brought into this chapter! More good being spread in terms of concern for treatment of veterans after their active service has ended. Great chapter!

I guess I am the latest to the party today...Loved all the comments. I was very pleasantly surprised to see another chapter posted. Hope that means that when this volume ends earlier than perhaps would have been if only posted weekly, that means the next volume will be published sooner! You are truly one gifted writer!

Merry Christmas Carlos! Thanks for the three chapters. I always enjoy the various travels you share in your stories - it provides a vicarious vacation for me! And this is a great break for them as a family. I never made enough money to provide these types of experiences for my son, which causes me some regret, but he has made up for it in his travels as an adult. Thank you again! Tony F

And thus the mores change from one generation to the next, with the older generation questioning why the youngsters have to do things so differently... I know that I have lived life in many ways different than my parents, and my son is living in his own way, much different than what I think he should do...but it works for him.

Wow! These two chapters have shown CJ's ability to bring people together and to relate to even the most recalcitrant of them. Too bad Northman chooses to be such an a-hole instead of appreciating the talents of his staff! Great job, Carlos!

Having lived in towns with both factories and mills, I saw how they first slowed down and then closed. Charley going to Phoenix was a smart move, though it does change family dynamics. I moved 800 miles away from my birthplace for opportunity that was escaping me there. Additionally, I truly hated winters. I came for the heat and I've not been disappointed, lol! My hometown, which used to have 5 glass plants, a Union Carbide plant,and multiple coal and zinc mines now looks like a bombed out town from another part of the world. The tax base is not there to truly rejuvenate it. It's sad! Again, thanks for sharing this story.

Great way to cover a lot of ground as far as story points, but filled with the personalities of each character. Will Calum realize his fantasy? Sounds fun!

Though I hate to see it end, I know that it must. Perhaps there will be a sequel later (hint!)... However, Kyle has learned that even in the least desirable circumstances, there can be a positive life. His attitude and his mother's determination make for a home regardless of their physical surroundings. Thank you for sharing this story with us, your readers!

Puppy is learning that life is hard at times and there are no quick and easy answers without consequences. Cindy did a good job of leading him through a guided imagery. I'm eager to see what the riddle means. Good to finally return to the story.

Well written chapter. It really shows the anxiety that families went through having husbands, sons, and/or fathers go from a sanctioned war to a "Police Action" that was never formally a war authorized by Congress. Of course, that meant nothing to most people - it was the first de facto war that we as a nation entered that had no satisfactory outcome but in which we lost many of our citizens!

Northman is a definite Eddie Haskell, and I do hope he gets his just rewards! However, it does keep things interesting when the Ambassador countermands him! Oh, to be the fly on the wall watching CJ and the marines... Great chapter!

We never took a vacation as a family due to the lack of finances. Work was spotty for my father in the glass factory - lots of layoffs and strikes. This carried through to me when I was a single parent for years: vacation meant driving 800 miles north to visit the grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. To this day, I would love to take a vacation with my son - but in that we are so diverse in our interests, I'm not sure what that would involve. I am still taking care of a handicapped sister. Getting away even for an overnight is nigh onto impossible. Still, my relationship with my son is totally opposite to what my relationship was with my father. Loved this chapter! Again, thanks for writing this story for me!
