  1. Puppy's mortgage was indicated in a previous chapter when he was arguing with Hunter. This story points out a real problem with young love and marriage: as we mature, we definitely change - but couples do not always grow together or make it a goal to work together to make the marriage a priority. And make no mistake, marriage takes work - but if you love what you're doing, the work is joy, even with the challenges that are inevitable. Another great story by James Matthews.

    Handling Hunter

Though I look daily for updates (so, you spoiled us...just an observation, not a criticism), I will take whatever you publish whenever you post. You definitely should take as much time as you need to address your house to make it your home! It took me several years to personalize my place! Now as to the story: I do agree with @Gregory: Puppy may have reached the age of majority, but he's still emotionally young as far as maturity goes. Thank God he has his family. That said, I must admit to liking the plot you are creating!

    Chapter 25

Ah, the days of letters in order to get news from family. When I started college 800 miles away from my birthplace, mother and I exchanged letters weekly. Phone calls were rare due to the cost and neither of us had much money. Oh how this story brings back so many memories! I really love it! You may have written it just for an audience of 1, but that one is appreciative!!

    Day 50

Well...the plot thickens. What more trouble can ensue?

    Temper, Temper

Loving this story from the get-go! I love the merging of characters into a new story. Great beginning, though I see trouble brewing for Hunter and Jensen and perhaps with Jack and Joey...

    Chapter 24

We never had central heat in any house we lived in while I grew up. The first central heat my parents ever had in a house was when I bought the place they lived and had central heat installed. That was a luxury for sure! Love this story!

    Day 49

What a mess! Leaving two wet-behind-the-ears teens to do a professional theft should go smoothly, yes? I do hope the kids are saved somehow and Salvatore has his genitals removed!

    Aftermath

Each of these three volumes have gotten increasingly complex and more powerful! This one, in particular, had twists and intrigue to the last sentence! Very well done! I must agree with @quttzik: these are valid questions that would complete and give resolution to the unanswered. But, knowing how you have written especially this last story, I'm sure you will provide more twists and turns into the unexpected! And that, Mr. Matthews, is what sets you apart as an exceptional writer! Thank you!!! Tony
  9. Can this web get even more tangled? What a tremendous twist! Now on to the next chapter and hopefully some clarification...
  10. Just when I think that the loose ends are finally binding, you give us another twist! Love it!!! Great chapter. And will Jake not forgive his mother? As he matures, if he matures, he will. After all, as crazy as it all was, he was surrounded by love his entire life.
  11. What a way to resolve so many mysteries! Didn't see this coming at all. When Jake gets home, will his mother talk with him about the picture? How is he going to explain leaving? Cody has to be given some satisfaction - he needs to go back to the states to see Luke.

    Hi Trevor

Nice twist. Still waiting for the tying up of the other lose ends.
  13. Too soon to end as there are too many loose ends! In the situation Ethen finds himself (how do we know that his father doesn't have ways of tracking him anywhere?), life for Jake will be always fraught with anxiety. Love will not salve over that! Indeed...quite the web has been woven!

    Day 48

Now what can go wrong with two young teens doing a B&E? On to the next chapter...

    Chapter 23

I find it amazing to behold: in small towns, the people are close and enjoy the "family" feel. Yet, they become very provincial, not wanting to venture beyond their known borders. Life seems to revolve around the same issues daily. I grew up that way, too, but once I experienced life outside the small town, I felt suffocated when I returned there. I couldn't stand having the same conversation every evening! I moved my mother away from the small town when she was 69. After about a year living in a larger urban environment, she said, "i existed for the first 69 years of my life. I am now living!"

    More Post

Mum is doing a wonderful job of sorting out the issues. I'm eager to see the next conversation with Ethen and learn of his plans.
  17. What Jake did with Cody was not to "cheat" but rather to punish himself for hurting everyone, including himself. I don't think Jake wants to hurt anyone but also realizes that every decision will affect others. Yes, the future with Jake is very tenuous, but is the decision to stay with Cody not also filled with uncertainty? That would be naive to believe. Following his heart is going to be tough, but both he and Ethen are capable of being rational - Ethen more so - and that will help keep him grounded. Great drama - great story!

    Not Letting Go

Oh what a web we weave...and I love how this story is developing. I love the comments as they show great insight and reflection.
  19. As I said before, I do love a good romance mixed with mystery! And this is one fine one!!! Go Alan! I know all decisions made will have consequences. Cody might just have to move on or go back to Luke - not the worst situation. And Jake and Ethen? Maybe dreams do come true...
  20. And the plot thickens! I am eager to hear Alan's side of things! I don't get the view that Jake makes everything about himself: he seems to do everything (other than check his sugars regularly) that everyone else expects of him. Cody wants him to be his boyfriend and, thus, he is the boyfriend. He hasn't stood up for himself just yet. But then again, he hasn't been sure what he expected of himself as is noted at the beginning of this volume. He won't be able to do that until he sorts out who he is and who he wants to be with. I may need the next few hours awaiting the next posting to settle down from this chapter!
  21. How could Jake's parents and Cody not expect him to find out if this was a joke or not? Good writing leads us to fully anticipate the next chapter, and the next, and the next...

    The Cover Up

Now I'm confused: Colin says Alan knows the plan. Yet, Alan is confused because he believes he has glimpsed Alan but can find no records about him or his work. Is Colin telling the truth to Ethen? Or is he trying to take some of the responsibility off him? Alan might have known that Colin was to take a new job, but did he know all the details? Great writing!!!

    The Cover Up

I understand your thoughts about Cody, but this relationship has been manipulated. It would not have occurred if Jake hadn't believed Ethen was dead. And besides, yes, Cody has been the loyal friend, but it seems he is also the one pushing the relationship between himself and Jake.

    Ghosts

I don't think Jake is maliciously playing with Cody's feelings: He was/is madly in love with Ethen - or as much as a 17 year old can be, and there are many relationships that exist years later to show that the 17-year-old love is the foundation on which a deeper love and relationship was built. However, to make the story richer, this mystery is getting more intriguing. Can't wait for it to unfold.

    Chapter 22

Not all the family gathered every Sunday - or ever for that matter. In my father's family, there were 10 children and 27 grandchildren. Many of them lived in Michigan (moved there to work for Ford). There were usually 3 families each Sunday - about 10 people.
