Liam hurriedly fluffed cushions and swiped at imaginary specs of dust on furniture as he scanned the apartment in search of any further preparations needed before the guests arrived. Elena had texted a few moments before to let him know she and Natascha were on their way with the ingredients to make dinner. He had hoped to prepare everything himself, but was honest enough about his cooking abilities to know he needed help.

Wow. I was impressed with this. Bart came into Dean's life at the right time, because he was heading down a pretty self destructive path. You managed to add some lightness and humour to two very tough subjects... not an easy thing to do. I want to hear more about these two and would love to check in with them again when Dean is finally ready to come out.
I don't know if you know the serenity prayer but this brings it to mind "... grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference." Sometimes all you can do is trust you are doing your best and take the next step forward, everything else is out of your hands. Of course you should also not forget those who are walking right there beside you
Alek wants Liam to understand how much he means to him, and is really stepping up his game It is hard not to jump the gun, but Alek knows that taking things slow is the best way to make sure he and Liam have the best chance last this time around.
