Hi Bucket! It's a bit quiet today, but that's OK. I am getting caught up on some reading. Hope your day was also good.

If You Go Down to the Woods Today
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in If You Go Down to the Woods Today
Grumpy Bear, you have a very twisted sense of humor. That title is so twisted for this chapter. The Teddy Bears Picnic is a fun children's song, but with the kids at the Academy marching into the wood to be the picnic for the monsters is just plain GROSS! 🤢 Rodney and Marcus are two brave souls. I hope they run into the kids group and escape with them into the night! Their efforts to slow the monsters will be completely useless unless they can disable Christopher like Thomas did. -
Hi Gary! Hope your Monday morning is off to a good start!

Archibald is certainly arrogant, but also a very despicable Papa. That doesn't excuse Christopher. Gabriel and Daniel did what the could for Christopher. Nelson's pack took him in and treated him fairly until Christopher threatened the survival of the pack. Gary tried for 10 years to help Christopher heal, and now his is in danger because he could not stay with Christopher after Christopher first attempted to change a non-kindred human. Christopher is a dangerous rogue bear and needs to be put down permanently. I'm with @astone2292. Don't touch Gary or the kids.

Allegheny Mountaineer Academy
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in Allegheny Mountaineer Academy
Gary is a sweet man. I hope that Christopher doesn't get a chance to victimize Gary once again. I also worry about the boys that are going out on the trip with him. It is nice that Gary has found Bill is kin and wants him to come back when Bill is much older. Gary is a good soul and I want him to stay intact Grumpy Bear! -
Interesting optical illusion. I stared at the black spots for a while then switch to the black area in the middle. There were ghost spots at appeared in the middle.

The Tale of the Ungrateful Cub
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in The Tale of the Ungrateful Cub
A very good twist to the plot and not one I expected. Christopher's Papa doesn't appear to be a typical werebear and definitely didn't do much to raise his cubs properly. However, among his many cubs that were sired, Christopher was the only one to become psychopathic and evil. I think that is more of an inherited trait than the result of his nurturing. At least the one thing that has resulted from the massacre of Nelson's pack is a possible way to avoid a lot of deaths of the werebear and wolves that will face Christopher and his monsters. Take out Christopher first. It also provides a place where the army might be able to set up the ambush of Christopher, Mt Savage. One thing of interest in this is that Christopher seems unaware of what has happened to his family since he was thrown out. -
Something Wicked This Way Comes
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in Something Wicked This Way Comes
Well Gabriel had a connection to Christopher as did Nelson and his pack. That Christopher is connected to a very wealthy family is a surprise. Was it his sociopathic personality, his selfish nature or his psychopathic evil? Probably all three. It seems as if he was spurned by his Papa in favor of Gabriel. I wonder who else is on his list for revenge. Thomas seems to know about him, so Gunnar will probably also know who Christopher is when Thomas reports back to him. At least the villagers other than the hunter/warriors were saved. Now its time for the Lycan Council to kick a certain Beta's butt, and call out the army. -

Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
raven1 commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
Hi @Kitt I know that there are many shifter stories where drugs and booze don't affect shifters. However, I have read other shifter stories where drugs (aka potions, herbs and medicines) do affect shifters. I confirmed these four; Brothers, Here Kitty, Kitty, Spirit Wolves and Running With the Pack. I also believe herbs were used in healing in Malaise. So that's where my question was coming from. 😊- 20 comments

Vera is both observant and intelligent. I wonder how she knew about werebears and wolves before. It was very kind that she and Johnny are going to take care of the diner while Gunnar and Mike take care of the monsters. I can understand Gunnar's sympathy for the humans that were changed to monsters. He is very protective of victims, and they are that. I hope he can achieve this miracle. On the other hand I know that Alex is 100% correct. There is not a bear or wolf that would not kill the monsters if one of them were about to kill their friends or mates, including Gunnar and Mike. If the Elder has the correct information to help the monsters to change back to their human form, then Gunnar is going to need to create a way to capture them individually without endangering any other humans or weres. He will need all the help and luck in achieving that goal.

Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
raven1 commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
Thanks @drpaladin. I thought it might be a lab manufacturing drugs that affected lycans and/or other shifters. I appreciate the clarification.- 20 comments

Sounds more like a Top Hat that has been folded down. First known use of the word was in 1940. However, Barnstormers not the only pilots that flat-hat. In the 1920's recycled WWI planes were used to do crop dusting for insects. Fun Fact: One of the largest crop dusting companies in the US, eventually became Delta Airlines.

The Lycan Council bureaucracy is no better than human bureaucracy, maybe worst. I do hope the pisant Beta gets what is coming to him when the Alphas find out. Hopefully, Apollo will be better able to persuade them, especially if a wolf community gets hit. I loved the picture posted by @astone2292. Great chapter the ramped up both the tension and evil characters. I didn't know how deadly a group of dababbi could be.

Strange Things Roam the Mountains
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in Strange Things Roam the Mountains
I was only 6 years old at the time, but a ride in the back seat of a black T-bird was a thrill I never forgot! I had to share this photo I found online. Now, back to finish this chapter! Had they answer the phone the first time, it would not have saved anyone in the village. However, the delayed response probably did save Thomas and Sam's lives. I feel sad for the humans that became these monster, but know that the monsters must be exterminated. I hope that Thomas and Sam get the hell out of there and seek haven with Mike and Gunnar. I don't think they will be safe there, since I think that Gunnar has been targeted by Christopher. I hope the wolves and bear lycans can figure out a way to stop the massacre of innocents in the path of these monsters. -
Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
raven1 commented on astone2292's story chapter in Chapter 22: Dangerous Druggies
In NYC the meeting with Cyrus and Tilliman led to some good. It was fascinating to see Cyrus and Kaplan switch good cop, bad cop roles. I am hoping their cooperative efforts with Tilliman's investigators will quickly lead to Harold's downfall. Dirk and Justin being domestic is fun, but they sure lost the affection to be replaced by professionalism. Who is behind the drug lab? What kind of drug is being produced there? I want the answers now. Hey @astone2292! Is there any way to speed up the next posting?- 20 comments

A very relaxing chapter to fill us in on what has been happening to Mike and Gunnar. They have had a normal and productive life together, and Sam and Thomas too. I think it would be great to have a restaurant nearby like Papa Bear's Diner. Of course, we know the "interesting times" are about to start soon. I am sure that Christopher's 200 year old plan is the result of something that happened near the time Gunnar was turned by Nils and will be targeted at Gunnar.

With a causal Executive Board like style, Charlie and the group made a brilliant decision to reactivate the Inspector and establish communications with Espero. I feel it is good that Espero want to make contact with them. However, there are some clues that might indicate that the humans are not from this Earth's reality. First, they use Esperanto as a language. Next, their tech is not of this universe, but far advanced over Earth's current tech. They are also powerful users of sqwish, and were not detected by the elves, possibly because they have not been long on this Earth's reality. Their behaviour seems more like a business enterprise that wants to integrate into a new market. Their statement of getting a patent on the Investigator technology was revealing. One wonders if much of today's tech is a result of Espero introducing new tech to the Earth after WWII. It is also interesting to me that their office is in Switzerland, a neutral country during that war. If this is a possibility, then the the boojum may also be from that alternate reality. Of course, this is just some mind play on my part. I am sure Geron will have fun laughing at my twists of mind. He's proved me wrong so many times in all the dozens of books he has written in addition to the Charlie Boone stories I love so well.

Dark start indeed! Christopher is not a character I would want to meet anywhere, especially in the dark. He is definitely a hate filled predator. Who or what is the target of his revenge. Joshua was fortunate that Gunnar and Nils were so protective of him. Very fascinating start.

Grumpy Bear has created a very unique shifter story for Trophy Cub. Mike is a human that has been kidnapped by wolf lycans who are perverted fundamentalists. Gunnar is a werebear still morning for his dead love Nils. The first chapters are extremely difficult to read and have appropriate warnings. However, they form a solid base of information on which the beautiful and enchanting story of love and adventure is based. A great cast of characters will grab your heart as the story tells their tale of adventure, intrigue, and smoldering moments. There is some great comic relief to salve your soul thrown in, as well tense confrontations to set your heart beating. This is a very unique universe that you will enter. A great read for those looking for a different POV to the world of lycans.

I am going to miss the She-Wolves if they are not in the next book! Of course the biggest laugh was when all the loose ends were tied up in a perfect package as Thomas found is own bear kin in Sam. Great HEA? epilogue! 😁

In Which Many Things are Resolved on the Battlefield
raven1 commented on Grumpy Bear's story chapter in In Which Many Things are Resolved on the Battlefield
Thanks Grumpy! I loved this story and only have the epilogue left. I am determined to catch up, so expect to see many more comments and reviews as I binge my way through these stories. I appreciate the clarification about the bears. I am living in Thailand now, but was from Oregon and traveled extensively throughout the western US and Canada. You have a great skill developing empathetic characters and a definite talent with setting and plots that are realistic and natural in feeling. Your dialogues feel so real. Terry -
Sometimes irony can be beautiful as in this ending with Mike, a descendant of Nils, becoming a Cub to Gunnar, Nils' cub. I am happy that Gunnar has taken care of a few loose ends like Alex and Joshua.
