  1. Good news regarding TedLouis dot com -- Storylover dot us is in the process of moving TedLouis dot com -- the whole site -- to their server. And, the message there said, there may be one or more days of outage while the site is moving to the new server. However, ALL the stories on the TedLouis site will still be at the same address. So, @Mancunian -- @raven1 -- @PrivateTim -- @Paqman -- @Zombie -- TedLouis dot com will continue, but there may be one or more days where the site will be temporarily unavailable while changing servers. The home page will now read "Ted Louis' Bookshelf."
  2. This is a set of high-quality stories. Each one is different. The main complaint I have is -- some stories could use sequels, especially number 29, "Hood's Wrath," and number 18, "Cadet Cruise." (@JamesSavik -- how about bringing the other sections of Cadet Cruise here to GA?) Lots of imagination and things to think about here in these short stories.
  3. This short story makes several good points as it keeps our attention. Not all is as simple as it sometimes seems. Just because a religion has "pat answers" does not mean they are always logical in the way they apply sections of their sacred texts. Chris asked questions Peter found hard to answer. HONEST practitioners of a religion will try to give reasonable answers to questions of faith instead of merely saying continually "this is how it is." An excellent story of less than 2,000 words.

    the Barlow Boy

@JamesSavik, have you considered a sequel set a few years in the future, showing the long term effects on Peter?
  5. Who knows what REALLY is going on at Area 51 and Area 52? In the movie "Independence Day," the President did not know, either. Given that government -- and business -- tend to keep some stuff secret that they think "we the people" should not know, little would surprise me. I am reminded of a book my father had when I was a kid, talking about myths and mysteries. One line in the book I still remember, on a particular conspiracy theory, that said that three million, three hundred thirty-three thousand, three hundred thirty-three people secretly rule the world, and that they have done so for more than three thousand years. It said: "If 3,333,333 people can all keep a secret for more than 3,000 years, they deserve to succeed!" We are unlikely to ever know all of the truth.
  6. I would say quite a lot. Often I find the answers I need more quickly on Bing, because there are fewer sponsored results to wade through, and also because Google will let people pay so much a "hit" to put their answers near the top but not listed as "sponsored." I know this because I used to work in a business where we were allowed to visit with the customers (and sometimes point the to things which interested them). One of them told me how he paid Google one dollar per hit (up to the first $25,000) for his results to be in the top two seemingly non-sponsored spots when someone used Google to search for what he had, using of four certain key words. Usually the Bing answer are not in quite the same order as Google, and for my searches, relevant more quickly as I go down the page. Sometimes DudkDuckGo also has more quickly relevant than Google. However, when searching for specific passages in books, Google is often quicker than Bing, and much faster than DuckDuckGo.
  7. @JamesSavik -- I also am glad you are working on this story again. I know life sometimes gets in the way, but this story is definitely worth continuing as your time permits.

    Chapter 3

Worse than that is the following situation, mostly in Kentucky: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/10-year-olds-hundreds-children-found-working-mcdonalds-rcna82583 Some of the ten-year-olds were working as late as two a.m., and one of them was using deep fryers, which federal labor laws prohibit any on under age 16 from doing. The article is enlightening.
  9. My faith in humanity is low enough that I look both directions when crossing a one-way street.
  10. Some of Dewey's stories are on storylover dot us website.
  11. The Fort Family of websites is now at storylover dot us and there are lots of places to explore. The row of stuff in the left column will give a lot of hints of what is going on. Under the list of latest story chapter postings there is news of various happenings within the Fort Family and various other of the websites related to StoryLover and the Fort Family,

    Paranoid

Good chapter, @R. Eric. A bit tougher read that many of the chapters, because of Joel's worried analysis, but a necessary chapter, in my opinion. Have they learned anything about Ark IV yet?
  13. This is an interesting story. Though written years ago, the message of tolerance and reason still stands today. The story starts with the sighting of something which turns out to be a meteor that crashed into a field. As they learn more of the meteor, people began to sicken and die. It becomes a race against time to find out why some persons are immune to what is happening and why most are not immune. As scientists and doctors work with determination to find a cure, suspense continues to build. Will prejudice win over science? Good work, @Bill W.
  14. This is one of my many favorite Charlie Boone stories. I greatly enjoyed learning more about Kiernan and Amy and meeting Robin. We learned more of Third Planet Inquires, more about Horace, and many other things, while having a great adventure doing that. This is definitely more high-quality Geron Kees.

    Chapter 2

I worked for a place 1/4 mile (0.4 km) from where a tornado hit. We had no damage at our location, although some leaves were blown onto the parking lot, but the tornado followed the road for about 3 miles (4.8 km) before the road turned away from the path of the tornado. The owner's insurance company cancelled him even though we had no claim because we had no damage -- simply for having an address on the same street! (The insurance company payed out millions for damage on that street -- it was a major retail thoroughfare.) Insurance Pirate? Maybe Insurance Avenger? Insurance Re-Adjustor? Insurance Nemesis? Insurance Revenger?

The party poppers, party poopers, or party peppers? If we get into party pipers, I will really chuckle!

    Chapter 2

Oh, love it! Now if several retail chains could get it though their proverbial heads that increasing prices just to increase markup is not good ultimately for business, that would be great! Good action and thought into this chapter, Aaron.
  19. This is a story of discovery between two youthful guys. Don't let the young ages fool you, Guys can feel every one of the emotions and physical sensations that are described. I know some guys who started some of their sexual exploration MUCH earlier than described in the story, and all of it consensual, as well. As Jesse and Marty get to know each other, they are also now looking forward to other things, including more "personal interaction." These types of interactions happen at differing ages to different persons, but all have an impact and leave a memory. Good work, Geron.

  20. I have read this story several times over the years, and I see something every time I had missed. It has lots of messages about live and living that I can't say here or give spoilers to the story. Suffice it to say it is a story worth reading and thinking about as Roy and Randy live and learn about themselves, life, love, and much more.
  21. Both the original and the revised and expanded "Can You Spare A Quarter" are on Nifty. The expanded version is posted as one long post, with chapter breaks inside the chapter, plus an informative afterword. It is at https://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/adult-youth/can-you-spare-a-quarter --- I have not read the story; it is rare for me to read anything in the adult/youth category. I just researched it.

Often brothers and sisters are different. Kruel Karen might have Karing Karl as a brother, or Sappy Sam, or Edgar Egghead.

    Chapter 1

As people have been saying for some time, it is the Dawn of a new Era. All Downy softness can be traced to the chemistry of Proctor and Gamble, while air freshener helps keeps things Glade fresh. The Ivory softness and the Pledge of Charmin for freshness and fastidiousness sometimes rules, While the PUREXpectations of 20 Mule Team Borax pull things along. To deal with the trail's dust, Endust helps give a shine to things, as does Glass Top Stove Cleaner. (Sometimes what sounds good does not spell out as well.) I look forward to the next chapters. This is pulling up memories for me, such as the time I was working at the Service Counter and a woman brought in a box of something and said, "These are too big for my husband." It was a box of condoms, in the smallest size the store carried. (We did not carry any extra-small. only small, standard, large, and extra-large.) Hey, in the Family Planning aisle of the pharmacy, Retail Ninja could find that nothing was covered up yet! This has to be one of the most fun stories yet!
