    Lucas seems entirely comfortable around Jubal and eager for his company. He's been alone too long. Jubal is showing his knowledge of building is considerable. They won't be building a shack, but something to last as a home.

    I've flown in them and owned one, but I've never heard anybody call a helicopter this in real life. The closest and most common term would be the shorter 'bird.'

    Riam has to be the most screwed up looking monster ever. I know I wondered in one of the earlier books about Demifae becoming Messiahs. Now we know it can be done.

    We now know for certain Lahari is alive. Unadi will have a steep learning curve and period of adjustment if he's never eaten or slept. I would imagine he will need to take it easy on his digestive system at first. There is no telling if there will be adverse effects. Only time will tell.

    Well, that's not so bad. When they start getting longer than that, it's too much. I still haven't finished a chapter which ran over 130k words because my browser kept crashing and I'd lose my place.

    I recall hearing a story about a state trooper here who decided he'd go ahead and have the cars towed from a fatal wreck scene where the victim had been ejected. The coroner arrived, looked to the left and right, looked all around, looked down at the body, and then said to the trooper, "Well, obviously this man fell from a plane since there are no wrecked cars here."

    How long is loooooong? You could always do like an unnamed author here and just inexplicably end a chapter, perhaps with one of those intermission notices they used to do for really long movies. lol

    Reading between the lines, Lothar killed his own father when he dispatched Wolfrick. I doubt it would have made any difference to him had he known. He abandoned his children to their fate and thought them better off dead. Gustave has a twisted sense of humor having Lothar there in plain sight and using him as a tool. Fran is playing a deadly and delicate game marshalling all these pieces on the board. One mismove could be disastrous. He's setting fire to a house while he's well within it. The game, as they say, is afoot.

    The setup is odd. Why was Sam there after hours? I'm not convinced Kane killed him, blood on his muzzle isn't proof. I don't know the protocol on reservations, but everywhere else a coroner is called to the scene to determine cause of death. God help anyone who moves a body or disturbs a scene before they get there.

    Killing Kane seems rather abrupt on circumstantial evidence and without examining the body. He wasn't exhibiting any aggression and was known as tame. Michael has some past demons judging from the severe level of his attack. Good beginning.

    This is the first sign of any legal authority we've seen in this entire series and they react to something like this? What useless idiots. I for one choose to believe Pelipi isn't dead.

    I think we've all seen Lahari as a kind of black hole for energy, but she is more of a conduit and I think her consciousness has gone to the otherside where the cosmic power comes from. My belief is she will return more enlightened about these powers. We'll see.

    Well, it's not the shortest chapter in history. There are some books with single word or blank chapters. If Ilya has brought Lahari back, she is likely still alive.

    No wonder Bivon knew he could bring the children here. He was with the Mystic pair before the timeline of the books. It always makes me uneasy when drunken lips are openly sharing too much in public. I hope this isn't one of those cases where it comes back on them all.

    The first thing which popped into my mind was Lancelot du Lac or Lancelot of the Lake, but lac comes from Persian and Hindi sources rather than French.

    I've said before this place needs some type of law and order, but judging from Fennah's family, even that can be relative and undesirable. The Mystic's little patchwork family just keeps growing.

    Xavier and his companions are not only list as far as place, but also lost in time. Was this purposeful or a mistake? I have to think there is purpose behind it. Unknown challenges lie ahead of them.

    My impression is Ogomo and his sister haven't returned since they left. They would have been unlikely to have known about navigating the waters then and presumably none of the crew are pfamiliar with these waters. Hence my question why no one was looking for shallows.

    I believe the box is just for convenience to carry him around since he has no physical form; for the same reason, it would be very difficult to hurt him. I don't even believe a Messiah could hurt or kill him.

    I was very happy to see this addition to the Kandric Universe posted here. I enjoyed reading the prologue again. The hopelessness of the situation is acute when even their greatest heroes have fallen and they seem abandoned by the gods who favored them.
