  1. This just goes to show you that a lot of publicity and a gimmick can bring you fame. You don't even have to be able to sing. But you do have to get your hair cut.
  2. All is not well in your kingdom by the sea.
  3. I'm not sure what it is about law schools. It seems every university wants one. It's like there was a shortage of lawyers or something. I know one young man who was in the first graduating class of a New England state university's law school. He was never able to pass the bar exam; is now the manager of a Walmart store, which is actually a pretty good job.
  4. That's great! 10,000! And most of them are in chat right now.

It's over-rated and it will happen anyway in due course. In the mean time, enjoy being youthfully indiscreet. I agree. Plus, once you've grown up, you start growing old. It, too, is overrated, although it is better than the alternative. Cheers.
  6. Happy Birthday, Nick! http://www.gayauthor...nickolasjames8/
  7. Chris? Didn't you mean Cliff?
  8. Ah, I see there are other pictures of you and your boyfriend which I overlooked earlier. Very photogenic...both of you. Thanks for getting me to look again.
  9. Excellent stop action photography, Jeff. I'm sure there's much more to it, but what camera do you use?
  10. Congratulations! "...Mike is the only person I've ever really loved." Guys named Mike have that effect on people.
  11. This discussion is an interesting and largely feasible hypothesis. I have no doubt that Trevor's mom is still alive. As for the polygamy issue, remember that, under Florida law, Rachel is legally deceased. That may or may not make a difference.

    General update

Congratulations! This sounds like a promotion which will be a plus if you do decide to look for a different job. You've heard of the catbird seat? You are in it.

Amitriptyline (brand name: Elavil) also helps.

    Whew!

Congratulations! I think one is a good number to start with. No need in appearing greedy. I've always heard that boys are easier to raise because they are more independent. No way for me to know for sure...all my children and grandchildren are male. Congratulations on the guilty plea. You had several victories that day. I'm sure you will teach your baby, boy or girl, to play well with others and not be a tyrant when in authority.

    Stressful times

I like Bob's approach too. It's ironic that, now that you've done their dirty work for them, the big shots don't need you any more. They must be a bunch of wimps. Best wishes on your new position, whatever decision you may make. I know you will do a good job.
  17. I think there's much more to like than to dislike on the new GA site. Especially for us readers of stories, there are a lot of neat ways to search and sort through all the stories, poems, forums, and blogs that are posted here. It will take a little bit of time and effort on our part to learn how all the new features work. I would guess most writers feel sort of neutral on the changes. For eFiction prose, the new system seems relatively easy to use. Hosted authors' stories are not quite as snazzy as they used to be, but that may save on valuable resources. For me, as a poet, I was disappointed that the formatting functions in the editor did not work as I expected. Poems, usually short by comparison to prose stories, would benefit from formatting which adds visual appeal. As for the other features of GA, especially the sense of community that others have mentioned, they are as good as ever. I have made a large number of friends over the nearly five years since I joined. I have helped several authors by serving as a beta reader for their stories. And much to my surprise, when I stop to think about it, I have tried my hand at poetry, which I would never have considered doing otherwise. I appreciate the encouragement of other members the and comments my work has received. As for me, GA's the place to be.
  18. I'm with you, Wen, on the Super Bowl...super game! I also settled in to watch Glee for the first time ever. I fell asleep, so I won't waste time on the show again. Guess it wasn't totally wasted. I have a three year old grandson who loves Glee. Now that he's started repeating dialog, his parents are weaning him off the show.

Trevor's speculation raises an interesting point. I think the detective may be like a lot of people whom I would describe as "mildly homophobic"...perhaps even "subconsciously homophobic". They don't hate gays, but they are surprised when they realize that some gays like or love each other. They are surprised at the realization that it's not just about sex.
  20. Can anyone say "global warming"? It appears Al Gore can and with a straight face: http://washingtonexa...storic-blizzard
  21. I really enjoyed chapter 63. I'm glad that Trevor and Shane will apparently be friends. What is Shane typing? Is he up to no good? Maybe he will not prove to be Trevor's friend. Very mild cliffhanger.
  22. I expect Green Bay to win. That doesn't mean I am a fan.
  23. I suspect there was a firm understanding if not a valid, signed contract before she became pregnant. You may need to remind her of that. I would recommend e-mail over telephone calls. It can express your appreciation without getting quite so personal. Some flowers when the baby is (babies are) born would be a nice gesture. That's should be about the limit of her involvement. Hopefully, you are not on the hook for treatment of post-partum depression. Legally, it's your baby.
  24. Facebook continues to get bad press. I'm beginning to think the company really doesn't care about their 500 million members when it comes to milking personal information for more money. Now, every time you "like" something, all your "friends" will receive paid advertising from the "likeee". See the article Privacy advocates don't 'like' Facebook's ad plans from USA Today. I urge you to read the story. If you haven't already, please vote in the poll at the top of this page.
  25. James, your erroneous title may later seem prophetic. Let's hope Egypt becomes more democratic rather than more militant.
