  1. It took me a few minutes to realize that "revise" means "review". "Revise" has a totally different meaning to me. I think the A-level exams are more like a proficiency exam (that determines what type of diploma you receive from high school) rather than a college entrance exam (SAT or ACT in the US). Am I right? I can't imagine doing one in Economics...the dismal science.
  2. Thank you. No bribe has been offered. If one was, it would be rejected immediately. Fair enough, although I can take care of myself.
  3. The original show in the mid-1960s with Patrick McGoohan and Diana Rigg was great. I'll try to see an episode of this remake.
  4. I very much resent the unfounded accusations you have made. You have impugned my integrity. And for what purpose? If you were paying attention to my posts during C James' most recent story, Changing Lanes, you know that I took the goat to task every time he released a chapter which ended with a cliffhanger. Conversely, when he ended the story with all cliffhangers and other issues thoroughly resolved, I was pleased to give him appropriate recognition. I have also voiced other criticism, when appropriate, for all of his stories. My agreement to become a member of his team in no way indicates that I have relaxed my personal standards nor that I will not criticize when I feel it is appropriate. My sole purpose in serving as a beta reader is to make a small contribution to the quality of the stories published at GA. It may also put me in a position to influence one author in his use of cliffhangers and other nefarious schemes. Have a nice day.
  5. If 50 is the new 30, then I look forward to 70 being the new 40. Actually, I wish I was 50 again. Happy Birthday, Sharon. You don't look a day over 39 1/2.
  6. XSRR is good. I think of them primarily for their Christmas music.
  7. Sorry about the picture. I just wasn't thinking ahead. That sure looks like bacon. I think after smoking the goat for 12 hours, you throw it away and eat the bacon.
  8. In Arizona they barbecue goats, right?
  9. WB, goat. Your absence was noticed. We've been having fun.

    Sandwiches

Have to agree on the BLT. Bacon, lettuce, and tomato with mayo on sourdough toast is the best ever. The tomatoes are the most important ingredient. We grow our own primarily for BLTs. Supermarket tomatoes are gross...pink tennis balls.

    Hung Cute!
  12. We know from recent experience that politicians do not always fulfill their campaign promises.
  13. Probably not. I know you are a big country fan. I'm not really (with a few exceptions).
  14. I have not yet seen the movie, but I hope to soon. What really surprised me is how well it has been received by a certain niche audience.
  15. Excellent pictures, Lacey. Hope you don't end up with too many mommies.
  16. I would be glad to post my playlist, but I don't care for being ridiculed in this forum. Thanks for the opportunity though.
  17. I've never cut my own hair, but I cut my sons' hair while they were growing up and one of them still cuts his own hair now. It's pretty easy to do (another person's) once you get a little experience. Having a friend do it makes a lot of sense. Just make sure it's a good friend. The comments about the cost of a professional haircut remind me of Hugh Grant's line in About a Boy. He has gotten a very casual, rather expensive hairstyle done at a salon and muses about "having my hair carefully disheveled".
  18. Your lover must be supernatural.

    Election

The election results were very interesting, but we don't really know if the GOP will learn anything from it that will lead to overturning the majority in the House and/or Senate next year. The one thing you said that I must take exception to is the idea that Howard Dean could return to the DNC. Please spare us that.
  20. I'm probably the last person you would ask, Graeme, but for some strange reason I seem to be the first to respond. (Edit: Well it seems I'm not the first; I just type slowly.) Your sons are certainly not too young to have the "birds and bees" talk. Of course they may have had that already or a lot of sex ed in school. In the old days, we learned about that stuff from our friends who had older brothers. If you need to have the talk, you may as well have the whole thing including your additional revelation. I guess you have to first evaluate where they stand in their knowledge of sex/reproduction/dating and start from there to plan what you will say. You have to decide if this is a father/son talk or does it include mom. Do you talk to each son separately? There are a lot of things to consider. I trust the counselor will have some good advice. I think the most important thing is to emphasize love...the love mom and dad have for the son and for each other. That's an important thing for them to carry over into their future relationships. Giving them honest answers to their questions and emphasizing the importance of love in their relationships, current and future, will make all the difference. So, there's probably not anything above that you haven't already considered, but maybe this will get the ball rolling with more substantial suggestions. Best wishes.
  21. I tend to get a little emotional at funerals and weddings. They are quite similar to my way of thinking. I guess it's the finality.
  22. There's a new threat to goats everywhere... No Goats, No Glory.
  23. Appendix and gall bladder due to their dysfunction. Prostate due to cancer. My consolation? The doctor says I'm very healthy for the condition I'm in.
  24. Happy Birthday, Rory!
  25. Paula Deen certainly uses butter in everything. Most of her recipes start with one pound of butter.
