  1. What a terrible life Jake leads. He is surely condemned no matter what he does.

    Thursday

This sounds a little like Simon has walked into a fairytale. Friends, social events, acceptance: it’s all there. At least, all there until his father texts yet again to break the spell. Maybe he should start forwarding those texts to Niki and his mum.

    On the Bridge

You are most kind in your comments. There are moments of magic, which connect us to memories and encounters long past, and to songs we never realized we knew. Thank you so much for reading this.

    On the Bridge

I really like the way you put it: “a sweet smiling sigh kind of way.” That was the aim; I’m so glad you think it hit the mark. Thanks so much for reading, and for your kind response.

    Healer

You have again written a fantastic chapter! So much healing going on. Thank you.

    On the Bridge

I’m glad the disapproving bearded grasses and scandalized leaves connected with you. I’m very grateful you took time to read these. Thanks.

    On the Bridge

Thank you, Gary. The voices of the stream and the moon lift my heart, as do your very kind words.

    On the Bridge

Thank you, tim. These lines just wouldn’t stop sounding in my head. It makes me glad you liked them, too.
  9. On the Bridge We met upon the bridge you and I, one walking through the high grass, while a thousand long beards whispered disapproval against bare biceps, the other scuffing brown and orange leaves which gossiped and blushed at what they heard. As equals we leant against the railing, near the middle, where last February’s sand washed up. The breeze spoke from the southwest, promising a change, and our songs floated, so dif
  10. What an amazing experience you conveyed in this poem. I feel the awe and wonder of the encounter. Thank you for giving me just a taste of what you must have felt.

    Semifinals

How do we score tickets to watch Chipper in the next round? Another great chapter in which you place us right in the action. Awesome. And those shoes wouldn’t be in your closet, would they?
  12. Thank you, tim. I bow my head with your words under today’s grey skies, and remember.

    Loose Ends

Bliss let Chipper down easy, maybe. What has been described has been pure fun, but not much more than that. They must both be planning for a rewarding career, as the conversation with Ethan and Miles showed. Let’s just hope we’ve seen the last of Mr. Nalbo.

    Story

This is a beautiful story. I enjoyed this postcard of Paris during the war. Thank you.

    Scars

You wrote another compelling chapter. I can’t wait to see what develops next, but even so, you have written healing into this world. Thank you.
  16. Thank you @Carlos Hazday, for gathering these insights and letting us learn from them. Thanks to you, and to@Mikiesboy, @AC Benus @northie and @Geron Kees for responding. I’m grateful for some important reminders here about writing.

    Wednesday

Freddie’s the friend Simon seems to need. With him, he can talk and be himself. And perhaps Simon will heed Freddie’s warnings about his dad. It really sounds awful. But yes, Simon, you can live without a phone.

Excellent chapter! You had me on the edge of my reading chair. Too bad only one person wins.

    Wounded

Orson is a smart man, and Clay knows how to apologize. And I sure hope Jeremy realizes how real that apology, and the love behind it, really is.

I like this poem. It resonates for me.
  22. These beautiful poems each talk to my heart about autumn and the coming winter. You observe the small birds so well, and I wonder with you about them.
  23. So much that’s good to read and hear in these. I loved your haiku, as each successive one brought a fond image to mind. I could feel your heartbeat, strong and alive, in the lines Woke, and in An Ant Can too. Sometimes our heart is what we need to hear. Thanks for sharing yours.

    Social Media

It’s savvy of Chipper to make sure his social media are relatively clean. Employers, Universities and Sponsors all care about matching image and social media presence. He’s definitely hitting the big time as he gets offers from big names. Chipper will be in the spotlight for good.

    Fear

You’ve written characters that are easy to love and hard to hate, even when they’re stubborn and mulish and wrong. Each one is hurting now, and healing is going to take time. But I hope that healing will come for each of them. You’ll write that, too, right? Please?
