The distance between them closes further still. But what is Sebastian up to? Trying to flush Noah out into the open? Trying to hit on him? Or just being friendly enough to make other people think? Great chapter.
Awesome news, Drew! Integration by parts is one of my favorites! I sometimes teach my students to use four-color pens to do them, which can help. You are doing some great stuff - trig integrals, partial fractions... (does small fist pump here). Hugs and high hopes.
Even as Kevin adds another layer of memory with Duncan, the other strata of his life define the shape of his landscape. You weave all the strands together so well.
So very sad. We lost so many brothers then, and we still lose more now.
One reflects that it might have been the narrator dead beneath the soil if not for his tubby frame and devotion to his friend. Yet he survived, and found love, which Denny never did.
Tommy got more than his revenge on Sean. True, Sean was both deceitful and callous, treating Tommy like a cheap garment to be used and thrown aside. In the heat of the moment, Tommy failed to foresee that Sean’s relationship with Bruno could explode with his bit of revenge. But I agree with another reader that it wasn’t Tommy who wrecked the relationship, it was Sean. Tommy just brought it to a conclusion sooner rather than later.
You were so very kind in your comments. Friendships are indeed very powerful, and in this particular case, a great blessing. And if the first two found spots in your mind and heart for a while, then I am delighted. Thank you for reading, and for your comments.
I’m glad these appealed to you. I love the challenge of finding the humanity in the worlds of science and math. I am very grateful you read them, and I appreciate your comments immensely.
Thank you for leaving these with us, tim. I had just a few exchanges with cognac, but I remember them a friendly and warm. Like you, I am sad he is gone.
The snappy back and forth seems to have no visible effect on Skyler, but Daniel will have an ulcer before long. The two seem to be at war, though Skyler appears to be enjoying each and every battle. Can that last?
Poor Kevin - first to be the butt of office jokes and pranks, then to be swallowed up by the nameless horrors of the copy room bin. I suppose being humorless is a grave offense in and of itself, yet I can’t help feeling sorry for the poor guy.
These are awesome. In number 1, the images of light and its quality permeate each line. Beacons shine, clouds part, and light prevails. I love the phrase “felted gloom.” That’s especially memorable. Number 2 speaks of your care and love for your friend. You write in vivid strokes of a difficult way ahead. Your friend is fortunate that you walk the way with him. Thank you for these.
I have enjoyed this story each and every time I’ve read it. I feel badly that I forgot to comment on it to tell you so. Life can be unconventional, so why shouldn’t this wonderful story end well? Thank you very much for it.
It is do good of you to read these, and to comment so kindly on them. I might blush, and I will certainly smile. I am glad you decided to stroll along with me.
