I have the capability of adding a Java-powered chatroom. All you would need to do to use it is to click a button on the site and it would automatically log you in with your site username. Would you use it if we installed it?

At the moment: Site Administrator -- Root Admin. Full access to all board controls. (me) Administrator -- Admin. Access to almost all board controls. (me) Moderator/Author -- An author who moderates a forum or more (wep, BM) Site Moderator -- An author who moderates all forums. (dkstories) Hosted Author -- Authors that have their official sites hosted here. (Comicality, dkstories, DomLuka, bwstories, navigator, JulienGregg, GhostRyder15, frank, etc) Published Author - A writer with published gay books. (Josh Aterovis) Newbie Author - An author with less than 5 posts. (several) Author - An author. Authors have access to post in several places that members don't. (like The Library). Authors also have increased PM capacity and other things. Advanced Author - An author with more than 75 posts. Members - normal member with greater than 5 posts. Newbies - New member. There are less forums availible to them. Like No Sneak Peaks, for example. They automatically upgrade to Member after 5 posts. Editor - A person that specializes in editing on the board. (B_O_B, Emoe57, James Bond, Moonwolf, Sparhawk) Validating -- Someone who has registered, but has not verified they have a valid email. (Lots)

Julien, This board was setup at the end of July in 2003. It wasn't actively promoted until early 2004. It was a testing ground for much of it's early time. And you may notice by people's member numbers that over 300 inactive members from the eary days were deleted. "Administrator" was member 1. I'm member 3.

I've bene bust this morning doing some updates. 1) Member Banners. I have changed these and reduced them by a great deal to make them easier to maintain. 2) Member Groups. I have reduced the number of member groups to help clean up the forum system as well. 3) Forums. I have removed a number of inactive forums in part of my clean up and I have added a link to dkstories's Blog, as that is where he prefer to discuss his stories. 4) Story Archive. I have made some major internal improvements. Some of these are very visible in the new alternating colors on the stories, for example. More minor things will likely be coming later today.

Aleric. The place for story comments is in "The Cafe". There is a huge thread on Dan's stories in there. You can also visit his blog. I also made it easier to find today.

Part of that is install base. Since 90% or so of all users use windows and IE, hackers have focused on it. The reason there are no viruses and worms and such for others is because nobody uses them. Windows had more new users this year than ALL of the Mac installed base, for example.

It can definitely be really handy. You can type whatever and then right click in the text field and it does a spell check.

Both are required. Some people like to just BS... that's primarily what this forum (General Discussion) is about. Not only that, but non-cerebral things are just as important as the cerebral ones.

Do you use ieSpell? http://www.iespell.com/ The new version of the board that is upcoming has a new "rich text" editor. It has a spell check button that uses ieSpell.
