    Short Stories

I actually find writing shorter stories more enjoyable. I find myself writing both long arc stories and short one chapter stories intermingling. Like I'm writing a long arc story now, but will write a different 1 page short to break up the mental rut. 90% of what I write goes unpublished.
  2. Yes!!! I subscribe to him on YouTube, he is fantastic. I love how most of his music, is just his voice, is layered in multiple tracks.
  3. I've found there are two ways one follows stories: 1. On the Main Story Page, if you had clicked the White Follow Button, it would turn blue as a Followed Button. If you click that, there is an option to Unfollow the story. 2. On the Main Story Page, if you had given a "reaction" like a Blue Thumb's Up, or a Heart, or something else. Removing that will unfollow the story for you too. I hope that helps. EDIT: Of course, if had done both, you need to remove both.

    Goon

An excellent tale of time travel, and the second chances one might be able to get. Wrapped in political intrigue, well-rounded characters, and brilliant descriptions that paint a most amazing picture.
  5. I'm more of the "Two is a Couple, Three is a crowd," type of person. In stories, I don't have published, I've done a threeway relationship, and a love triangle. However, neither felt "natural" to me, when I was writing it. And the whole short came across as forced.
  6. This week's Topic Tuesday is a fairly straightforward question: How Do You Write? Some people use a desktop computer, some a laptop, or even a tablet. Some can write using their smartphone, and others like the tactile sensation of pen on paper. There are even some of us that use typewriters, both mechanical and electronic. We all have our preferences when it comes to writing, and for me, I use both pen and paper, and digital. Why do I use these methods? Well, for pen and paper, it's easy to carry, and quick to use when I need to jot something down, or I think of a scene for a story. Also, the tactile sensation of writing manual helps with memory enhancement. However, I do the bulk of my writing on my laptop, its the industry standard now for all Writers, and while I'm not a published author, nor do I aspire to be one, it is the best medium in order to share my stories with you all. So, how about you? What do you use?
  7. I feel honored to have been chosen for this month's CSR. I hope everyone enjoys my stories, and see you later this month for the discussion. Book 3 is being plotted now.
  8. This was a good little story. I liked your take on it.

    A New Life

Heya Xander. Thanks for the comment. Yup, this one was just the one chapter, but Jill, Chandon, and Brayon will be in Book 3 with Adam, Duncan, Rob, and Giles. Book 3 will focus more on the relationships between the three couples.

    A Reflection

Since I first read this poem, when you posted it, I've been finding it hard to express into words what I felt from it. Fantastic poem, tim. It invoked some good emotions.
  11. Great story. Loved it.
  12. A fun story. Loved it.
  13. I loved it. Was a great story, tim.

    I See You

Excellent poem, Mac. You can see the love that is in your words.

    "Low Light" Reel

Comas are the bane of my existence. Even when I cut them out myself, use Grammarly to cut out more, @Kitt manages to find more that I missed. @Mikiesboy shared with me a document that he made, of tips, tricks, and things to look out for, that @AC Benus shared with him over time.

    Mindfulness

I don't have many words to say, my friend. We walk similar paths, and I'm here if you ever need to vent. It'll stay between you, and me. I might not know the words of advice to say, but you can always count on my virtual hugs and my thoughts and prayers.
  18. I wasn't able to get it written in time.
  19. I recently read an article that addressed this. Sadly, I don't have the link anymore. In it, they stated that in today's culture, you have less than a paragraph to hook a reader, or your story is garbage. My response to that is Horseshit. I would like to say, that if I only had one reader, and that reader gave me good feedback, then that's all I need, but I would be lying like a Politician. I once answered, a blog question or forum post by @BlindAmbition about who I write for, and I still believe I write for myself. However, I'm a human being with a pulse, and I like my ego stroked as much as the next guy. So, having readers that interact, and give feedback are pure gold. My last project, that I posted here on GA, called My Son, was my most successful on the site, and it scared the fraking shiznit out of me. I'm used to having low feedback, because of the genre I normally write in, even though I complain about it, but with that story and the number of likes and comments, I was in hog heaven. I was also worried about letting the reader down, as I was writing the chapters to post. I'm guilty of story abandonment too, but I've done it with my own stories. I've got a few sitting in the "on hold" because I'm a serial writer, and I can't find the inspiration to go back to them.
  20. I hope you get the help and support you need. I've been in your place and can sympathize with you. I've been fighting Depression and Bipolar for years now.
  21. Thanks for posting this Cia. It's refreshing to see GA being open about its policies, unlike other sites, and the staff being approachable like Y'all are.
  22. Status Update: I might need to either switch entirely to Google Docs, just to make sure this crap stops happening.
  23. Thanks for pointing these out, Myr.
  24. Let me paint a picture for you. It happens to all writers at one time or another. How you get over a block, is different for each of us. For me, I try switching to a different story, most of the time that works for me. Or I go and read some stories here on GA, or the latest novel I'm reading. Take a walk, or even fire up either EvE Online, or Star Wars: The Old Republic, and blow stuff up to relieve some stress. Eventually, I'll find my way back to the story I was working on. So, how do you handle the block?
  25. As Myr mentioned in the blog about the book, Narnia has a lot of Christian Undertones to it. I loved the first movie and didn't catch the 2nd or 3rd. However, I love this Stephen Curtis Chapman song that was made for the movie.
