Thank you! He was the first to tell me, “Just start writing, don’t overthink things.”

    Chapter 1

Thanks and a v happy new year to you and your feline companions. 🤗
  5. Carlos Hazday had a great sense of humour. Hopefully, he will forgive this black comedy submitted in homage. It makes complete sense only if you have read his CDMX first, where CJ arrives in Mexico City to work in the Embassy. oOo What if we all got it wrong? He groaned inwardly, not daring to disturb the giant of a man spilling over the armrest. Surreptitiously, he tried to reclaim at least part of the rest for himself. It was to no avail. The guy just grunted in his sleep and se
  6. A tongue/in/cheek tribute to Carlos Hazday-s "espionage novel", CDMX.

I’d like to know @PrivateTim’s view on whether Will can avoid having the odd tantrum about this!

We have a few hours to wait in Spain (currently 15.25), which is a good thing given dinner I’m preparing later. i totally endorse your comments re our esteemed author, @Mark Arbour. He is a champion. 🏆
  11. I’m trying to work out how I missed this amazing tale of what? Grief, guilt, anger, redemption, perhaps. It is exquisitely written, not a word is wasted and it flows seamlessly to its powerful conclusion. A powerful piece of writing which, literally, had me wiping a tear away at the end. Congratulations

Ace work but the best for me was the interaction between Jeremy and Jake. The world could be ending but we can’t be rude! Love it! 😍
  13. Many thanks! Let’s see where the muse ( and limited skills) take me. Next is a take of Carlos H in the anthology and I half-way through prompt #260 which about a holiday nightmare with two weiner dogs. Then perhaps Juan and Pepe…. best wishes for 2025!
  14. I’m chuckling as I write. She/he looks so adorable and innocent. I just hope the friends are ready for hell on wheels. We are on holiday in Pyrenees with Greta (the normally good one) and Lilebeth (aka, Spawn of Satan, Lucifer junior etc. etc.). We have a garden. Great I thought when I booked the apartment months ago. No. A nightmare of disobedience has ensued since we arrived. More to be revealed in prompt #260 soon to appear, inspired by @kbois……. It’s a wiener dog horror story….
  15. Me Catholic seminaries 😭😱😭😱😭😱
  16. When a student in Rome, our mad Latin teacher used to raise hell about his fellow Americans’ destruction of the English language. “They can’t use the past perfect, they don’t know what it is. How can you learn Latin without it?” Totally mad. A total genius. Now it seems that worldwide we are losing the past simple as well. And if used, inventing new versions of old verbs. In Spanish the present simple can be used, correctly, to animate a story in the past. It seems to have entered into English writing as well. But for everything. I’m 100% with you on this, @drown. We are fighting a losing battle, I fear, until I read some exquisite English from @Robert Hugill or @James Carnarvon, or my beloved @Mark Arbour and others on this site. And that lets me live in hope for our language. Keep the faith!
  17. A very nice surprise to read about one of my favourite persons on this amazing site. Never will I forget reading the interchanges twix @kbois and @Mrsgnomie when I was not in a good space. They kept me smiling. thank you x
  18. me too but I thought I had all seven

If an excuse for my lack of knowledge of medical abbreviations were needed, in Spain it would be DE, I think. Anyway, what’s wrong with being a little innocent 😇

  22. Thank you, kind sir. Not sure I can reach your productivity xxx
  23. Funny you should say that….. Greta appeared in my first offering here in GA. Neither appears in my tribute to Carlos Hazday for tomorrow but I have the beginnings of an idea to include them in the next one! We are staying in a castle (think big house walls of stone, rather than Windsor Castle) so it should be fun 🤩 hugs
  24. I would eliminate the “sometimes”. Hope all goes well xxx tomorrow we head to Pyrenees with the weiner puppies - owners of the apartment said they looked really cute…… I’m just worried about extra charges for damage and destruction…… Happy New Year, everyone Gary
