  1. Read and enjoyed them all, they are a brilliant mix of stories. Thursday's just won't be the same when all of the anthology entries have been posted, the stories are something to look forward too.
  2. I've just been enjoying having too much time on my hands, but that's about to change, now it's time to plan on how we go grovelling 'cap-in-hand' to big businesses ready for Christmas and New Year. It's going to be harder this year with the way the economy is.
  3. You're all slow pokes, I had them all read before going to bed Thursday night, lol, and loved reading them. I'm having trouble waiting for the next batch.

    The Perfect Car

Thank you @Quilah for your wonderful comments, I happy that you enjoyed the story and I'm sorry if I broke your heart, but rest assured that they did make the best of their time together and everything they had. Their loving children Maxie and Charlie are a testament to the lives they had together and are a priceless legacy for any parents to leave.

    The Perfect Car

Thanks @raven1, you're right the first car is the most special car to most of us. The ford Anglia was a fun small family car so I think it's fitting to show that. From what my father and his friends told me before they passed long term relationships were more common than most of us think, they were just more closely guarded with partners often passing as brothers or cousins. While I created and wrote the story @Mrsgnomie helped me greatly with her editing and helped to make the story what it is, she also deserves credit for her hard work.

    The Perfect Car

Thanks @lomax61 for the lovely comments. I'm glad that this brought some fond memories for you as it has for others. A first car is often an important landmark in many peoples lives, helping to create memories, in this case it was almost part of the relationship and yes they were lucky to meet each other. I think we all have that bit of a soft side to us, I'm no exception, lol.

Thank you @ReaderGuy81 for commenting. I'm happy that you felt the love and emotion that I wanted to convey.
  8. Thank you for the encouragement it means a lot to me. This story is coming close to the end - for now - but there will be more stories to come in The Boot World in the future where we will hear more about our favourite characters.
  9. @Freemantleman it's good to see your still me and enjoying the story. Without realising it Benjamin has met some good people, he is yet to find out how good.
  10. Benjamin was welcomed with warm hugs and a meal prepared by Eli. Shamira's motherly instincts took over as she learned of his life over the last few years. Sleeping arrangements were changed for the night, Shamira slept with the twins and Jacob shared with Benjamin in what had been Shamira's room. They would need to rethink when Isaac arrived the following day. When they retired for the night Ariel would only settle on the floor between the twins beds, it was as if she felt her place was ne

@Howzat I live in the UK too and I understand your fears. But there is something that we can do about it, remember the phrase 'The pen is mightier than the sword'. When we go to the ballot box during elections we can use our pens, consider carefully who we vote for, if we vote wisely it can be prevented by wielding the mighty pen.
  12. Another great selection of stories, it's got me reading stories from genre's that I don't usually read and that's got to be good. We are being spoiled with this anthology. Thank you to all of the authors and their teams. 😃
  13. A short tale of two kindred souls finding each other in the old west amongst the prejudice and hate that existed then, not to mention the betrayal and greed. I'd love to read a follow-up, read it and I think you will agree with me.
  14. Now that is the ending I was hoping for. I loved this short tale and would love to read a follow-up if you've a mind to write one 🤞🤞🤞
  15. I'm guessing that Lucas never heard of the saying 'the pot calling the kettle black', but everyone else got the message when Virgil pointed it out. Now we just need Virgil to get Wyatt out of there.
  16. I like Virgil and I think he likes Wyatt, I hope they do become an item and leave together.
  17. Not my usual choice of story, but this looks like an interesting start to what promises to be an interesting story. It may make me do a rethink on this story genre.
  18. Dust Bunnies? Zombies? Habanero rotgut? It's a strange but amusing story, I quite liked it.
  19. A frightening view of what the future could hold, it makes you think about what some want for our future both politically and climate-wise. Read and think hard about the type of future you want.

Phew, a gradual build up to nicely paced action. I like the way it's written but shudder to think that it could be all too real if we're not careful. Shades of George Orwell's 1984 me thinks.
  21. Intense, tension filled in both a good and bad way and filled with more realism than any other story I've read. Get yourself a drink, get the snacks, get yourself comfortable and read. Be prepared to read about real issues dealt with in a realistic and true to life way. This is definitely a recommended read from a very skilled writer.

    Chapter 1

Wow, the intensity of the writing brings tension to the fore. Yes tension, the tension of self discovery, the tension of dealing with the acceptance or animosity of others, the tension of dealing with the mental health of a close family member, the tension of simply truing to grow up and many more. It's real, it's gritty and very well written. I don't profess to know anything about non-binary issues but I do respect everyones right to be who they are and be true to themselves, now I can at least be a little more understanding. I hope Shay has a better future, they have suffered enough and deserve to have something good to look forward to. Thank you for writing this and giving me at least a little understanding.
  23. A cute story with a delightful cake recipe. My recommendation is, make the cake and enjoy while you read the story.

A cute short story with a cake recipe thrown in, what more can we ask for. The cake looks really scrumptious, I might have to try some. 👨‍🍳
