It's probably because I just finished reading Firefly but I do remember Toto. When I first saw the title I thought of the scene in Firefly where Toto tells Gianni he's not allowed to see him and then I thought uh-oh. Good move on finding a way to tell us about Gianni and Angelo without a sequel. @raven1 said the towns "social milieu" hasn't changed but perhaps that's only Salvatore I guess we'll see if the rest of the town will be like they were with Gianni

I believe in numbers of words this is the second longest story on GA (as far as I know) to read this in three and a half days is quite impressive. I'm sadden to hear what you went through. If you do write your version there is no doubt it will be as incredible as this story is

Oops made a mistake in this comment see next comment

The one thing about this list that impressed me is the diversity of the artists on this list . I mean how many times do you see Pink Floyd and Don Henley on the same list? (I love both BTW) I know some of the songs but others I don't so it's on to YouTube I guess (after reading a few chapters of James next story of course)

What you say there is true more often then not but I can think of a couple of exceptions. An author on GA who if I'm not mistaken I think I seen you react to a chapter he wrote recently @Ronyx wrote sequels to two of his stories something he says he doesn't like to do in both of those cases the sequels was better then the original great stories. Speaking of great stories now it's time to comment on yours . I already know it's somewhere in my top ten the problem is which incredible story would I have to remove to put yours in. One question that came up as a result this chapter is what was Nonna thinking when she changed her mind about Gianni staying? Father Stefano was part of the search party I wonder if it was something he said to her.As @travlbug said I don't think Angelo would tell anybody of Gianni suicide attempt but I bet it crossed Nonna's mind. I take my faith seriously like Nonna does but she's closer to almost being extreme about. So thinking from a perspective of a person who is devout I wonder Nonna saw this as Jesus saying " You screwed up with your daughter and almost screwed up again with your Grandson you're getting another chance NOT to screw up" Well on to your other stories now which I will read in order because that's what you suggested. Thank you so much

Usually I have a pretty good idea how a story on GA will end I don't get it 100% right but I get the gist. In this story it can go so many plausible ways and I bet all the readers who read this wasn't sure what would happen. A sign go masterful writing. One thing I noticed there has been no mention of anybody having a cell phone ( unless I missed it) You said you wrote this in 2008 is the story set in that time? If it is then how come nobody has a phone?Perhaps their small town can't get access to service. The main reason I ask this is if it's set in a slightly earlier time that could explain the town reaction to Gianni or perhaps it's nothing more then a small town mentality

Pretty much concur with what every one has said. One glass of champagne and one glass of wine? I guess when you're 14,15 and haven't drank alcohol a lot and he's pretty thin to begin with I suppose it can cloud your judgement
-
@raven1 pretty much said what I was thinking. You did an incredible job of portraying the somberness and grief of the occasion. Angelo stated that he didn't cry in front of Claudia and the family. Being able to cry with Gianni says a lot

I wonder if at the beach Angelo would have done the sand thing if Gianni had opted for the speedos

Is it possible in this day and age that two teen boys Gianni and Angelo's age haven't thought mucho about sex and what their likes are? In Giannis case had only a few close friends and was only casually friends with others while Angelo is in a very small town with only a few kids his age who he doesn't interact with. So did it really take them two to start hanging around to awaken these feeling?Or have I missed something?

That inspires him to write another story .........The Attack Of The Killer Chihuahuas

Great stuff 😄 But you did forget what is by far the biggest pain of going shopping....Those morons who leav their shopping cart smack in the MIDDLE of the aisle where nobody else with a shopping cart can pass

It was hard to hold back the tears after hearing what David said. And the way he articulated it he's quite intelligent

I'm amazed @JohnnyC found the perfect GIF for this chapter. Great chapter BTW. I"m surprised Mr Rude from the earlier chapters wasn't one of the visitors next door

Father Stefano handled the situation pretty much the same way the Priests and Deacons I know would have. “Look at the synergy,” said Pietro, putting an arm around Anna’s shoulders and glancing from one boy to the other. “They’ll be finishing each other’s sentences next.” I wonder if Pietro senses something
-
With age comes wisdom I hope. As other readers have pointed out perhaps Nonna experience with Franchesca will have her thinking twice about this time around. If Nonna had asked the priest for some guidance on this issue most priests would say this is not worth disowning your child over but that doesn't mean Nonna local priest didn't think differently . As far as the possible gay issue the Catholic catechism states that although they don't agree with the gay lifestyle that a gay person should be treated with respect and dignity I would think that would also mean loving your grandson.I'm not sure yet if Nonna understands that.

I bet the thoughts Seth had about sitting next to Adler are universal to all teenage boys who are crushing on someone boy or girl. A couple of thoughts Seth had "Hasn’t science come up with a way to combat spontaneous boners for young teenage boys yet??? Is there, like...an anti-viagra pill for us or something?" I actually have a solution to that give them a picture of me in a speedo that'll take care of the problem every time. Seth's other thought?" What’s next? Me drooling all over his lap? I’m such an idiot." Well at least he would be over his lap.

It was mentioned how different each was. Eric had a relationship of three years while Mike's longest had been three hours.Because of that there is one other thing different Eric seems interested in what Mike wants to do with his life with the talk of College and everything I bet Mike never had that before. If Pete starts putting his excess drinking behind and hooks up with Maggie perhaps Michael could find a way.

Great gesture by Trevor to approach Christian and Taylor (jeez even the names are hot) and Trevor in turn got rewarded by being invited to that group. I have to say I though Wolves had better instincts when it comes to detecting character flaws if they do then Trevor's is broken.Man all that stuff Shannon revealed OMG..The best thing I could say about her is she isn't as bad as Cassidy (aka THAT BITCH) but that is like saying It's better to have your hand amputated rather then your leg. Thank you sir for an excellent story and I'm looking forward to more in the future😀

I'm curious if that was part of the conflict between the Grandmother and the Mother. At the very least Gianni should express his reluctance to the priest. I have sponsored in becoming Catholics and I'll tell you the church want a person to do this voluntarily at least where I live. Gianni did understand that he couldn't take communion because he hasn't been confirmed so he's not totally unfamiliar with this

Looks like I discovered another excellent author. Its no surprise its a tribute as to how many good authors GA has and because of that it is easy to miss someone like @James Carnarvon. Other readers who commented here know what authors I read as they read the same authors when I saw that they commented here I knew this story would be good. A lot of interesting stuff still to find out but the most interesting thing is what was the conflict between Gianni's Mom and Marina and I'm curious if Gianni's Dad had any part in this

So happy to hear that

That picture @JohnnyC had in his comment pretty much perfectly conveys what Thanksgiving is like at the home.Although I would guess they didn't make the drumsticks available at least not in that form too many kids to fight over them. David getting teeth is the most important thing of course so this detail isn't all that important but I assume David is getting dentures I never thought of this before but I guess a boy that young couldn't get implants. After that dream GG sent to Armand is said “Thanks, Peter. I’m never sure if the kids that hang around me like me to feed them or just the extra attention. But, I wouldn’t change a thing.” I will admit this I don't think I could be as patient as Armand was with the kids but in my case it would be a good thing it would stop me from overeating on Thanksgiving
-
Oh man that dream would be a huge wake up call . As far as that little girl saying they were taking their daddy away from the other fish I wouldn't know what to say I wonder what Tommy did tell her.I also wonder that if she ate meat before she din't make that connection? The smallest boy from the home caught the first fish and it was huge. That was Cool definitely but I wanted it to be David
