Consider this - Pete says he calls the house and they don't answer. It doesn't mean the kids don't want to talk to him - maybe Mom has forbidden them to talk to him and they're too afraid of her to defy her.

Thank you Jiminy Cricket.

I very hectic chapter with a lot going on. I was thinking that Jimmy might have to come live with George and Pete, the way his dad was acting, but that was before the scene out in the yard. Jimmy still might need a safehouse if his mother does kick Micca the fuck out of the house and divorce him for what he did. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
-
Maybe his mother's brothers. They sound like that type.
-
Is anyone thinking as I am? If the new kid at second is getting really good, could Pete move over to short? He no longer has to worry about hurting Mitch's feelings, not after what Mitch did to him, so maybe Mitch will lose out in baseball now.
-
Most 14-year-olds are even thinking ahead to college yet, let alone what they might major in, and Pete is already thinking about a career. I'm not so sure about what people are thinking about what Mitch is doing. He might have overheard something while he was showering and notified someone about it... maybe even the state police. Who knows? I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Personally, I worry most about those whose age is greater than their IQ! Dinner with the 'rents. Not just about sex now! hehehe

Another one bites the dust... it looks as if Chilton is done teaching - at least at the school in Elko. Oh, that might be two bite the dust... Greg, the guy that bumped into Pete intentionally will probably suspended or expelled as well. I guess they're just culling the herd.
-
Something tells me there are going to be a lot of big changes coming to Elko. Principal Dumbass is going to lose his job, possibly the police chief will be on the carpet as well, for releasing Carl Turner without any charges, and Jordan Turner may also losing influence in Elko due to his and his son's bad decisions. We can only hope.

effervescent - Word of the Day - Wed Jan 22, 2025

Things that are bubbly or carbonated are effervescent — and both words come from a Latin root, effervescere, "to boil up or boil over," combining ex, "out," and fervescere, "begin to boil." The earliest known use of the word "effervescent" was in the late 1600s. The earliest evidence of the word in print is from 1684 in Guide to Practical Physician by T. Bonet. -
I knew Mitch and Pete would make a cute couple, I hope they haven't just been added to the Endangered Species List. I get a kick out of Uncle George as well. I'm counting on him getting his lawyer to file a protective order or conspiracy charges against Carl and his goons, or even better, both.

I loved the last part of this chapter with Mitch and Pete. They sound like they'll make a cute couple.

I don't think you have to worry about Carl. After the coach heard his bigoted rants, knows that he start the problem, and he's already told Pete he made the team, I think Carl's going to find out tomorrow that he's NOT on the team. It may lead to him wanting to ambush Pete later, but since the Seniors stepped in to stop Carl and many teammates told the coach that Carl had start the ruckus, I think Pete will have plenty of backup, it the others are around when it happens.

Yes, the reveal was like hitting Mac's parents between the eyes with a sledge hammer. I think you've got Mac's dad partially figured out - I think he'll require a beer and dessert. Mac's mom, however, might either be due to her love for her only remaining child and the desire to have grandchildren, or the fear of being attacked by some monster if she raises a stink or reveals their secret. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter.

Yes, how the boys disclosed being a skinwalker was kind of like Oscar the Grouch popping out the garbage can when you least expect it. And I don't think you have to worry about Mac's mom keeping their secret - I think she'd be worried about what they might transition into when they confront her about it. 🤪
-
Thanks for that information about the guide training, VB. And I'm glad I was able to surprise you a little and approve of what the boys did. Now, we just have to wait and see the parental responses - hopefully all will go well.

Al, I enjoyed this chapter as well. I've always found that little guys often walk around with chips on their shoulders and ready to fight just to prove themselves. Many feel that if they show they aren't afraid, even if they get the shit kicked out of them, they'll still get their licks in and make some have second thoughts before they try anything. I'm glad Peter has a better home life now and some support. I'm just hoping the team members will come around if they see Peter as valuable teammate.
-
Thanks, Danilo, and now the boys have got some "'splainin" to do. I think we all hope it goes well for them.

Then was hereditary kind to you, Al? 😵
-
Al, it sounds as if you're mother not only treated you poorly, but she apparently wasn't much better with her husbands. Once they got married, or shortly thereafter, she must have shown her true colors.

All of us enquiring minds want to know what happens, Mancunian. I know I sure do!

Don't feel bad, Tony, because you're early as far as I'm concerned. I just get so wrapped up in writing my own stories that I haven't been reading much, a problem I'm trying to correct. And since @Al Norris is one of my loyal readers, I saw this story, read the blurb, and couldn't pass it up. I am now hooked.

drs, it you think you're late, I must have not only missed the boat, but fell off the turnip truck as well. 🤪 😵

I thought the same as you. What is Peter's mother going to do now that he's gone? I suppose she'll dump even more responsibility on her oldest daughter, who will probably end up rebelling as well. I imagine Mom will enlist the next oldest daughter to help out as well, unless the next oldest son is older that the second oldest daughter. Oh, and if you never heard the word "tetched" before, you either didn't grow up in the country or hang around your grandparents. They always pointed out the people they felt were "tetched in the head!"
