chirography - Word of the Day - Fri Nov 8, 2024
Bill W commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
For me, I would define chirography as being able to write so others can read it, not just a bunch of squiggly lines. -

I try not to use this word, because there are many other words that are more appropriate. -
I had several agate marbles in my marble bag when I was growing up. They worked really well.

The evil skinwalkers wouldn't seek medical attention, and that leaves only Devin's family, all the way back to his great-grandfather. Seeing medical science wasn't advanced enough to discover such things, they didn't have to worry, and since then Gramps and Pops have never needed medical attention and they stay away from doctors. That's because doctors routinely request blood samples to be tested for varios reasons, and who knows what else they might discover.
-
For much of their life, science wasn't advanced enough to catch that. Later, they primarily stayed away from doctors and never suffered any serious injuries that required medical treatment, so this little tidbit never came up before.
-
Remember, their good skinwalkers, not evil skinwlakers
-
I thought about that, but there just too many things he'd have get rid of and too many doctors with notes and memories. I don't think skinwalkers have a device to erase someone's memory.

I used to do that, and now I have to watch that I don't do it any longer. Maybe your thinking of Entenmann's donuts.

The first time I came across the word etymology it was in an upper elementary spelling book. It would take the more difficult words and give the etymology for it. I was hooked, and from then on I like to know the etymology for any words that pop up in my reading, whether its in a book, a magazine articles, or something online.

I don'[t know about the rest of you, but I'm only counting 6 legs, possibly 7. But as long as she picks on insects and not humans, her scary look won't bother me.

That's one thing to consider and worrey about - the rush to publish an unexplainable phenomenon.

Maybe they could move to an out of state college, like Maine, New Hampshire, Alaska, or Hawaii so they doctors will forget about them. Or they could go see Oral Roberts and ask him to do one of his faith healings. I'm not sure if he's still doing them ,or even still alive, but I don't know of any other pastors currently that are doing faith healings. Maybe Franklin or Ned Graham (Billy Graham's sons) could do a faith healing. ✝ Or they could go to Italy on their summer vacation and visit a statue or the crypt of John Paul II and claim a miraculous healing, 🙏 But hose kinds of miracles have to be confirmed by the church, and they have their own doctors to investigate those claims. Or maybe try another religion? ☯ it's a conundrum!

Your comment gave me another idea. Could they transfer to another college in a state far away from Colorado so the doctor's lose interest in the situation, since they can do no further testing? 👨⚕️ Maybe this would go away if they were in Maine, New Hampshire, Alaska, or Hawaii for awhile? You never know!

They could do that, but then they might expose the connection with the shaman and his son if this goes south. Then they'd be investigating the family and the shaman connections, and that wouldn't be good.

Yes, Danilo, this chapter took a great deal of research to write. Getting into all of the medical issues and finding something that would sound realistic was difficult. You should have seen the list of issues I considered and then discarded. And Devin's mom is having issue with cutting the apron strings when her son is injured. I'm sure see's not alone when it comes to that, but it ended up with Mac and Devin's dad getting involved to soothe her bruised sense of being needed. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter.

That is a question of how serious this situation will become and if Devin can talk his way out of the problem or think of another solution. This issue might not become a major problem, only a curiosity, or it might expose Devin and the family. Devin is fighting to regain his independence, so do you really think he'd be willing to ride around in a mobilized wheelchair? I'm sure he would think that would not only bring more attention to him, but it would make him look weak to all those he's come into contact with in physical confrontations.

I'm not sure if I'm getting ahead of you guys, but Devin's doctor has consulted other colleagues, so this could become a larger issue.
-
Good point and something I didn't think of.
-
I think if Devin refused more blood tests, that might raise an even bigger red flag.
-
Yes, Devin's responses to why he may have animal signs in his agglutination may cause problems later, so we'll have to wait and see how this plays out. That's something Gramps and Pops never encountered, so it must be they haven't been injured and needed medical attention recently. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter and we'll see how this plays out. Btw, if my answers to you or others sounds strange, it's because I was temporarily at the hospital for a procedure and the anesthesia and drugs haven't quite worn off yet. I hope I've been making sense and was responding to his chapter and not thinking ahead.

Healing faster would raise suspicions with the doctors, and that might cause them to want to study his case further. We'll keep the comic book characters out of this story, but it might make a difference on how he can do things later. Let's hope for the best.
-
It has been difficult for Devin to accept help, but he's finally learning to accept it. It was important to his mom, because she was feeling neglected and unneeded any longer. Devin might be able to continue his educarion remotely, and if that's possible then he won't have to add on another semester, after Mac has graduated. That would be a blow to Devin's ego. It's also putting a strain on Mac, besides missing that one day of classes, so we'll see how they both make out.
-
Yes, Devin has to be careful or his lack of patience could be his downfall. The abnormalities in his blood test is one problem, but healing to quickly is another. So many red flags, but will they expose him or create long-term problems? You'll have to wait and see.

Yes, Gramps and Pops may have been able to get away with things like that, since the medical profession when they were first around was very primitive, compare to today's standards, but Devin doesn't seem to be that fortunate. The thing is, they may be curious, but will they be able to figure it out and expose Devin's secret? And will Mac be able to convince Devin that healing too quickly could become a problem, not an advantage.
