Awww. The Old Man of the Mountain in New Hampshire and now this. Are we going to lose all of these natural wonders?

W_L, there seems to be some cultural differences here, if you see a problem and he doesn't. Maybe you have to show him, but do it nicely. What I mean by this is start asking him to do things you want to do, even though it may not be his cup of tea. If he refuses and suggests something he likes instead, then you state firmly that you're not interested in doing that. After a few times of wanting to move in different directions, he'll probably get the hint that this isn't going to work out. When he does, you can both agree to break it off amicably. I hope that helps.

A lot of Spanish ships sunk in the Caribbean and around Florida for various reason, storms (shuch as hurricanes), battles and even pirates. In addition to those wrecks, addtional vessels from later periods that traveled from teh West Coast through the Panama Canal were also lost, so there's a great of gold and silver lying hidden beneath the ocean floor. If only the oceans were receeding, making it easier to get to, but unfortunately it's headed in the other direction. Maybe oover time a portion of it may be found, but most of it will remain there forever.

Suddenly images of Morlocks, the underground creatures from H. G. Wells story "The Time Machine," comes to mind. Will we now see them emerging from these holes and attacking the local inhabitants? A scary thought, indeed.

Although it was a long time ago, my family wasn't the accepting type, so I never told them. I was afraid of a violent reaction, since similar situations happened when they reacted to other things they didn't approve of. Therefore, I hid the truth from them until the day they died. I truly hope none of you have to go through a similar situation.

Education is fine and a noble effort. Just don't forget the old adage. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

WL is correct when he says not everyone that is homophobic is the same. However, there is one thing I believe can be said that might be wise to consider. It's impossible to argue with ignorance and opinion. Most opinions are not based on facts and are merely something the person accepts as true. Sometimes this is due to the old adage that if you say something often enough and loud enough, people will begin to believe it. Another way of saying this is that if you throw enough crap against the wall, some of it is bound to stick. In most of these cases, it is useless to try to persuade te person otherwise or attempt to convince them they are wrong. In such cases, it's better to move on and stop wasting your time. Stick to those you can reason with and write the others off as a lost cause, because you'll never change them. If you don't believe that, just look at those that would like to return to the days of Jim Crow or before the women's rights movement.

I love fried shrimp, fried clams and fried fish, but only enjoy it occasionally, since it isn't good for me. I can eat it, just not fried. I wish that weren't the case, but it seems as if most things I enjoy are bad for me, one way or another.
